    • Only make honorable decisions. And only recruit honorable lords. Release everyone you best on the field of battle, and soon, based on everyone's opinion of you, you will see which lords prize honor above all else. These are the ones you can rely on, and the ones who will never defect. They will always have a perfect opinion of you, because you will always act honorably. And they'll never defect; that would be dishonorable! Really, in the long run, being a nice guy pays off in Warband.

  • I remember when I got traped in Tihr with barely a company strong force against something like 1500 Nord army. They waited for a few days and attacked. They came like a morning tide to my walls, climbing the ladders and firing at us with their longbows, we sent them back. They came again. and yet we still beat them. In the end, me and my company of Swadian Sergeants and a handful of Rodock Snipers killed almost the entirety of Nord army in that siege. King Harlaus was so impressed with the feat that I have achieved that he granted me a second village, which was the entire way across Swadia and got constantly raided by Not Mongols.

Even if the faction that used to hold that castle declares war to your new faction, they will probably go to castles defended by fewer troops, since the game don't consider the quality of the troops, only the numbers.

Very helpful in kill the bowmen before they start shooting at you. That way you don't have to ride around in a circle forever to waste all their ammo. • There is one way to have a lot of happy vassals without constant feasts: Having high honor in the endgame! This worked great for me during my runs. The higher your honor rating is, the higher your reputation is with the *right* lords. This reputation caps out at 100, of course -- but if your honor rating is high enough, IT STAYS THERE! (I think this is because the actual reputation-value is higher, but it maxes out visually at 100). This means you can give fiefs to lords as you please, strategically, without worrying about all your other vassals bitching about someone having a bigger slice of the cake. First I thought it was a glitch, but I think it's a way the game rewards you for being good. I like it. It reinforces the roleplay-aspect that good people will follow you to Hell, if you prove through your actions that you are the "best" choice for the people of Calradia. CONS: -No raiding random villages, attacking peasants and caravans, general assholery -No ransoming Lords - always let them go after a battle (You can still do these in moderation, but it affects your honor rating). Quick ways of getting honor: - Training/saving villages from bandits, and decline reward - Letting lords go after a battle - Rescuing Lords -- You can rescue imprisoned lords in ANY un-allied castle/town. Great if you're passing by one at night. These can easily be done in passing, while you're following whatever main objective. Once you see those 100's in reputation, you know you have your future vassals. This is definitely only handy, if you're playing a "good"/pragmatic character, but I couldn't get myself to do "evil" ruler-runs, once I discovered this. The endgame die-hard loyal vassals are simply too OP. But what about all the looting-money lost in this!? Human trafficking of NON-lords, of course. Nothing morally wrong with that. Want more money? Bounties, is the answer. There's crazy early game money, xp, and renown in tracking down bandit parties and lairs - if you know where to find them! ;) Know it's a long comment. No one will probably read this haha. But I didn't see this mentioned ANYWHERE, so might as well write it here.

    @Darknizl@Darknizl4 жыл бұрын
    • I read it. Honestly I never really figured out how to trigger prison rescues... either way, good to know. (I never actually could bring myself to raid random villages/caravans unless I was seriously desperate anyways. I know they're not real, or even fleshed out in any way, but the thought of marauding through random peasant houses when they're just trying to survive in such a hellscape almost always stopped me, regardless of the rewards.) Still sold enemy soldiers into slavery though. There's absolutely no moral conundrums there!

    • Raiding isn't that great any way. Its much easier to just get businesses in most towns and play slowly, passively making more money than you can use without the risk, tedium, and honor loss from raiding. Using this strategy I would only raid once or twice to pay for initial businesses but it's not really nessecary. The fact that you get "locked" into raiding and can't move until you're done while the AI can run away on the world map really tilts me too.

My character has most of the quests done, millions in the bank, A huge mansion and most of the skills I care about at 99, and yet.. I still get on lol. I think one of my favorite interactions that I still remember, to this day, in like 07, I was a low level noob, in the desert mine, with shit gear, shit everything.. and some uber high levels (to my thinking, though they where like maybe 10-20 levels higher) came in, had a chat.. gave me a bunch of gear and basically set me up. When asked later (I still have them in my friends list, and I've ran into them on rs a few times over the years) They said "hey, we where bored, figured we'd help out a noob. But man, It felt awesome. I think because of those two, there is a reason when I log in, I smith up some iron or steel armor, sit in lumby, and hand out full sets.. literally just to pay it forward, (I get it, most players are vets by now, and are just redoing a character, but if there is even one there that is brand new, I hope even a small leg up, is appreciated) Anyway, I have about 4000 hours into Mount and blade over 11 ish years. The singleplayer experience was great and mods opened it up quite a bit, but the competitive aspect of the game is wildly underappreciated, even to its own niche followers.

    • I actually think multiplayer in this game is, in a sense, a more accurate representation of medieval combat than the base game. Not in regards of the base mechanics, but the skill of the players involved. The skill of the players on the server usually follows a normal distribution curve. You can run into anyone from a guy who barely just started and has no idea what he is doing, to someone who at least understands the mechanics and maybe some of the easier tricks, to people who will massacre anyone in seconds without any chance of retaliation. Kinda like actual medieval combat, the person you run into on the battlefield may be a peasant who was handed a spear and told to go in the general direction of the enemy, or an armoured knight who was trained for this his whole life, but you need all of them to actually succeed (this is also the reason why I almost exclusively play Siege in multiplayer. The others just aren't that fun to me if you aren't a master at multiplayer combat).

    • False. Crossbows and longbows could harm knights back when they used chainmail, NOT plate armour. The french got fucked against the brittish longbowmen in the battle of Agincourt because their horses were shot, plus there was a lot of mud, and the vast majority of knights didn't die, but were captured. And that's the reason that battle became so famous, because it was incredibly rare for knights to lose so decisively. They especially hated crossbows not because of their power (the strongest crossbows are far weaker than average longbows), but because literally everyone with no training could use them. With bows, and especially longbows, you needed years of training to develop the muscles required.

I find it bogs down when you've got a castle or a town or two which need garrisoning and your role changes from Das Boot But On Horseback to recruiting sergeant. The divide between PC and NPC bothers me. NPC lords don't spend their time traipsing between villages looking for recruits. I'd like a game with a better-realised system for growing your warband: one used by the PC and NPC, that's open to interdiction (weaken your enemies by stopping them reinforcing), and which the PC can delegate to an NPC lieutenant.

I have already saved several nobles asses from being wiped out and taken entire cities with little help, but STILL I have so little influence as a vassal (Not to mention how hard it was to even be accepted as a vassal in the first place.) This being said, when I have had my exploits recognized it has been that much sweeter! Every battle won against some character that had previously slandered my characters womanly-ness was that much more glorious. So, even if the cards are stacked against female characters I would say that the game as a whole is more satisfying!

For instance if Jeremus has 10 points in surgery than your party has a 65% chance of not losing soldiers. But if **you** have 10 points in surgery than the party has a 81% chance of not losing soldiers. So there **is** a downside in letting your companions handle every party skill.

  • This video almost made me want to start playing again, then at the end you reminded me Bannerlord is almost out and I'd barely be into the mid-game by the time it's released if I got back in now. Also worth it to mention that mods can fix a lot of issues with the base game, not entirely, but for example that issue with battles being over when you get knocked out, I think Floris fixes that.

  • I like to share one of my memories from like 8 years ago, I was like in school grade 6 or 7, I was playing Stronghold 2 which is also a strategic lovely game from 2005, one I came back from school and my brother surprised me by a new game Mount & Blade Warband, I was the happiest boy in the world and I started playing it. At that time I couldn't understand how the story mode works and I quickly left playing Mount & Blade after a month or so. About 6 years later while searching my old laptop I faced Mount and Blade once again I played it for about 2 years and I still have the game, now I have my own empire and I have wife as well😆😂🤦‍♂️. I will always love my brother for his lovely gift (mount and blade).

  • I have over 1.5K+ hours in Mount and Blade Warband. Thank you for making this video! It was informative, kind, and well thought out. I'm a part of the NW community and have been for 5 years now. I was a part of the FH and their Zombie server along with Appleorgasm's Zombie Server too. I've seen many regiments and people come and go from this community. It's sad knowing that the DLC community is dying out but perhaps Bannerlord will bring a slew of new players and ways to play. We, as a collective community, hope that Bannerlord takes us to new horizons and brings the modding community to more creative ways of creating new experiences too. Warband is amazing and I picked it up at a local book shop. Little did I know that I was going to be here this long satisfied. Thanks again, Lord Aperion.

  • Bannerlord is going to be amazing.. eventually. It touts amazing modding capabilities on its own custom built engine. If we don't love it, and the devs don't fix it by its final release, the modders will. Most of the Warband's shortcomings are 'fixed' by the mod BannerPage, a newly release mod generally considered to be a definitive addition. "Less talking, more raiding"

Thanks for putting the time into this video, it was informative, fair, and entertaining. So, knowing there's a new M&B coming (although for PC for now) I look forward to your upcoming videos!
