  • Thank you for this video. I have a 200ft pro kit arriving next week. I was lucky enough to find it on sale at Govee earlier this week before it ran out. Running into this video will be very helpful, as I'm sure after arranging the lights on the front of the house (2 floors) I will still have lights I will need to cut off. 200 is overkill for what I need, but I plan to later add lights to the rooftop along the sides and back of the house, so any extra segments will be used at that time. Again, thank you for your information.

  • You have the best videos available for Govee lights!! I just bought 3 of the 100' kits from Lowe's (great sale a few weeks ago for $224 each). I bought the wire, wago lever nuts, solder seal connectors, connection boxes, etc... from your affiliate links, fingers crossed the install goes well. After watching your videos, I feel prepared. Side note, I just installed leds on a few of the shelving units in my whiskey room thanks to you also. I used the BTF leds in diffuser channels with Domestic Automation wled controllers. I have 2 with 300 leds and 1 with 365. All of them sync perfectly, and it really was plug & play using the solderless connectors. Just want to thank you for the work you put into making this easier for us.

I still have one idea I am waiting to see you try (I think you mentioned that you were going to make a video about it) I am super curious to see if you can cut a strand and essentially splice in a loop so an animation would syncronize across a house in an instance where you had 2 eves that were parallel and wanted to have an animation track across them at the same time.

  • Fabulous video yet again. My question is if the spacing between each light was nearly halved, how would it affect the light experience. I've ordered the 150feet but only need around 100feet. So i have the option of ignoring 1 of the 3 strings or just trying to condense them to my gap.

Also I'm doing the same setup you did for the 3x curtain lights on the garage overhead with the command hooks and 1/2 U channel and a 32' neon rope light up a flag pole! • Hello! I’m about to purchase the outdoor lights (not the pro) after watching your video on cutting (which helps a lot so thank you!) I wasn’t to know how many lights can you have connected on one single strand. I have the ability to do a continuous 200’ or more run and i wanted to know if there is a limit? I know each strand is about 16.4’ and I’m estimating i may need about 15 strands. Other question is if i split up the power support and make it one strand 8 & the other 7 will it will sync together?

  • I got the Govee 100' permanent outdoor lights (Non Pro) version. I'm super picky and put 1 light in each of the 3 peaks in the front of my home, I used all 6 strings of lights cutting the last one only using 1 light on the last strip. Which required cutting and splicing on 6" of wire in 2 spots, I also cut 1 strip of lights down to 4 lights then cut and spliced on my extension cord. I then ran another strip of lights, with the last strip being cut down to only one light. All are soldiered and heat shrink for water proofing. After connecting to my Govee app and installing a update, I checked to make sure the lights all were working. The last 7 lights of my install were off. I went into the apps settings and noticed it was only set for strings of lights. I changed it to 6 strings of lights and now all my lights work as intended. Just a heads up for other who need to cut & splice for proper fit & look. Can't wait till dark to play with all the different light settings....😊🎉😊

    • @@l3n0y.24yes it did work. I was able to make the cut midway between the 3rd and 4th light. I then used the 3 separate silicone covered wire that is in the link for about 8 ft. I cut the end of the included 12 ft extension to connect to the silicone wires. Then I took the end cap from the extension and attached it to the string of 9 lights to be able to plug into the end of the 12 ft extension. I used the heat shrink waterproof solder connectors and all worked perfect. I did just like the video and used wagu connectors to check everything before soldering.

  • I am left wondering if you had 3 strings compromised of 10 5 and let's say 8, if the calibration via the app would still work. I don't how govee is testing or figuring out how you had 11 at the end Assume they are basing it off the number 10 but somehow must be using the signal to hone the exact number. Always the best govee tech videos. I have a set of pros and at the end of one of the top strings I was going to add an extra light before an extension. I want to just solder the new light, I find their connectors big and clunky. But now I'm wondering if the connector perhaps has some signal significant rather than just being a straight jumper. Not sure what gauge the first version of the lights is but the pros are 20AWG and signal wire is 24 AWG. looking online I could have sworn somebody said the old ones were 22. if that's the case then the old ones also have better wiring. hopefully eventually there's a workaround for the WLED and the pros.

I have 4 splices using a mix of the supplied cables and 18awg thermostat wire. I'm wondering if there's anything I could to to boost the power/signal? Can I inject power in the middle? Can I use "better" extension wires with less resistance?

    • iPhone. Up to date firmware and app version 5.9.03@@ChrisMaherDIY I had to add the rest of the light strip back on and refresh to get the 3 lights to work since I cant manually add segments.

    • @@customcorporateimage interesting! I wonder if the app on Android has different capabilities. Doesn't make sense that it would be different but it's definitely there on my app and I'm running android.

    • @@ChrisMaherDIY Figures its an iphone thing.... Where you can manually add, I have to let the app automatically do it and it wont detect 3 or 4... It's working now. Just cant do a refresh..

    • Had the same issue. Had to add a full section to make the 3rd segment appear. Then the selectable list shows up instead of the refresh button now. I'm using the android app.

  • Just bought my Govee pros and followed all instructions, but my lights AFTER the first splice connector are not working. I even tried using another splice connector from the box and still no luck.

    • Did you get it to work?

    • @@kevinbarriga3428 Unfortunately not yet. I thought perhaps i needed to strip the wires further to ensure they were making proper contact, but that did not work. Trying one more thing this afternoon, then if that doesn't work, I will try a direct splice not using Govee's splice kit.
