the premier league was able to market itself the way it did and change viewership and the way football in england is followed by fans by modeling it after the nfl in the states. tv deals with cable networks were where the money really was. the modernization of britain's telecom infrastructure in the late 80s/early 90s was a pretty large factor. the internet's success a decade later was also a major contributing factor.

The funniest thing about this hate is that these people are our neighbours, colleagues and friends any other day of the week, but when it comes to football…pure hatred! It’s dumb but that is the reality of the situation. In a way, playing your rivals every season probably eases those tensions. Amazed that Taunton versus Bridgwater didn’t feature! As for imposter syndrome, I always think of a quote I read on a piece of art by Billy the Butcher- “The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence”. Stay awesome Nieve, 300,000 folk on here love you x
This is really lovely and thoughtful, thank you. Appreciate it
Love that quote... Need to find a way to say it to the stupid cnuts I work with daily 😂

@@DannyHill3 we need to get Nieve down for a game!
Yes Stuntpegg, Jussi Jääskeläinen your favourite Bolton player ever! You have now new Finnish friend forever! Cmon Jussi!
Brilliant! Finland is on my bucket list to visit as soon as possible, awesome country!
From Finland as well, big fan of both Jussi and Nieve🫡
@@stuntpeggnieveDear Nieve aka StuntPegg. Thank you for another video. I think I agree with nearly all your favourite 5 derby's. I am surprised you didn't pick Portsmouth v Southampton. You are wrong about Wimbledon and MK Don's, because they used to be both the same latter team.
@@stuntpeggnieveMay the best team win tomorrow, even though you hate Rugby, as my two teams England and Wales, are playing each other tomorrow. Well done for your other half, the Italians, nearly beating your English half and only losing 27-22.
@@stuntpeggnieveDon't build your hopes up too much about Finland, although the people are very friendly.
I would be nervous around Thierry Henry. You never know what he is going to do with his hands.
Ian Hislop once made a similar comment about France not being able to keep their hands to themselves after cheating against Ireland. He hit the proverbial nail on the head.
Dear Whiskey Chaser, I figure, Henry using fingers and hands would be frightening as a forward field player.
probably touch something hes not supposed to !
Massive respect for the Type O Negative shoutout, and INXS as I'm Aussie, also had a giggle at the captions turning "we need you again" into "we'll eat you again"
The mirror gag, only got that one after some...reflection
Ha! Classic.

The way Sir Alex handled his Men was optimal IMO. So many big personalities, and kept them all (mostly) in check. A true manager of people rather than manager of resources.
Totally agree.
Finally someone outside of Sheffield has recognised the importance of a Steel City Derby only someone with intelligence and a deep knowledge of football would understand it thank you..

I'm a Villa fan living in Sheffield now and I would probably say that rivalry is fiercer than the Second City derby. Feels like genuine dislike whereas Villa-Blues can often feel quite jokey (mainly because Birmingham are a silly club).
@@celtic69 and long may it continue 🙏 Derby games are great if you win but horrendous if you lose. They're not worth the gamble 😂
Street striker getting a call out was not what I expected, I loved that show growing up
That show warrants a genuine use of “they don’t make them like that anymore”
For any other curious Americans, there is Street Striker content here on KZhead, including at least one full episode.
That just unlocked a core memory I completely forgot about
@@stuntpeggnieve Dear Nieve aka StuntPegg. Assuming it was you liking my comment, showing respect to your Italian sides Rugby team, I thought I would keep you informed, that they lost 41-0.
@@stuntpeggnieveDear Nieve. If you did ever visit the Portsmouth or Fareham areas, you would be very welcome. The only dislike I have known, not from me personally, of foreigners, is for Germans, certain types of Blacks, and Czechs giving themselves a bad name, through letting people get drunk, coming out of the Prague Junction bar. I am sure I also had a distant Italian next door neighbour.
10/10 craic on every response, these videos are honestly such a joy & lovely to get some background on the 80s music snippets which we have all come to love
I always knew that you had great ball knowledge but your choice for the #1 derby and the best stadium exterior surely now confirms your status as the leading brain of English football on KZhead.
Best English football content I've come across, including ex-players.

You are sheer class and greatness. Thanks for sharing!
That music segment at the end made me really love you. All those names you reeled off, Zombies, Hendrix, Cream and then Soundgarden and System of a Down, I didn’t know someone my age (mid 20s) would love and know the same names. Brilliant stuff👏👏
The Shoutout to Paneer and the Love for India!!!! yesss please. Loved the vid

Absolutely
CONGRATULATIONS ON 300K SUBS!!! Very happy for you Nieve :)
I've never heard of anyone outside of America that likes Type O Negative. I tried to introduce them to some of my English friends, and they didn't care for them at all. One of my favorite bands. You are the best!
I'm in UK and also like Type O Negative.. (mostly bloody kisses\october rust era).
Stuntpegg funny loves the match & Soundgarden some other young un needs to marry her.
If it is any consolation to you, some Limeys have hated your Alice Cooper.
Found out your name is Nieve from the comments! I love your channel and your passion for the British game. The premier league gets a lot of the publicist but there is something special about lower league football that I think you are doing the best job I’ve seen in capturing the essence. Keep up the great work!
Love your videos. Keep them coming!
You're amazing thank you for the content ❤
Damn did not expect Street Striket to be mentioned tbh 💯
Love this lass she talks more sense about football then a lot of men I know .
StuntPegg has great musical taste.....and....Roberto Baggio! 😎
Noticed the Svay Rieng shirt straight away!
another cracking video . keep it up chuck.
Thanks for giving the Sheffield derby a shout out. So many people overlook it.
No surprise to learn StuntPegg is a real music lover. The needle drops in these videos are always top.
As a posh fan absolutely made my day that final bit about Peterborough
Arsenal vs Spurs and West Ham vs Millwall another couple of honourable mentions
Amazing as ever! Enjoy your weekend superstar
Your videos are just awesome!!! 🙌
Just discovered your channel. You're great!
Jaaskelaainen was always on my Fantasy team back in the day, that's a real real throwback indeed!

Burnley v Blackburn Rovers rivalry runs deep. Honourable mention I think
Southampton vs Portsmouth is also wild.
Oh no, yet another cool video on it's way...! all your videos are cool Neve, that's why i'm here. And now that I know we can rave to the same sounds of Yardbirds. Zombies and the Who etc, as well as Footy, your channel is now Bolted into my heart with 10" Bolts..., why Bolts and not nails? Well, Bolts are bound to be more suited to a Bolton fan I thought, yep, that's me being thoughtful again! And to top it all, I might even throw away the spanner if you're into Jeff Beck as well.
Appreciate you putting the subtitles high enough to still be visible on zoom to fill mode.
Was not expecting to hear Type O and Soundgarden! Great taste in music 👍
Your channel is a treasure! Your passion for the sport is infectious. Here in America, we had endless levels of professional baseball in the past. I wish we still did. Your tiers of football are fascinating.
I really wish we had promotion and relegation here in America. Imagine a team rising up the ranks to reach the pinnacle of the sport. It would be electric.
I think you are just Stellar! Thank you for all that you do
Currently watching this at 3am in Cambodia. Glad you are representing!
Oh wow! Thank you!
I’m same with music, it’s the one thing I love more than football myself, I sent a question about music myself, (sorry if that offended you but in Whitney’s case I struggle to separate the art and the artist there) but I really love Psychedelic/Guitar Music Myself, and Soundgarden, congratulations on 300,000 Subscribers, you’ve earned it!
" in Whitney’s case I struggle to separate the art and the artist there" - what does that mean?
@@SteRDLK the songs are alright but I’m not a big fan of the woman who sang them, I don’t like speaking ill of the dead, but I didn’t find Whitney Houston a pleasant human being, so when the songs play I struggle to take that away.

Can’t believe you were in the Holte to see Alan Hutton’s goal! Iconic 😀

Thank you Dave 😊
I would have loved to have seen the 70's era of football. When it was possible to get promoted to division 1 and win it in your first season, the hairstyles, the music, no super rich clubs and it was free to watch footy on the telly, mucky pitches and crazy tackles
But only Nottingham Forest won it after promotion.
It might have been free to watch but it was one game on TV a week, very few highlights and nothing below the first division was televised or even filmed
I first went to a game in 1971 as a young lad absolutely loved it. It has changed so much now.
@@stewartbanner Don't forget the violence in and out of the stadia, banana throwing racism and people getting crushed to death.
And Elton John owned a team! Brilliant!
The next video is very very cool? Mate, all of your videos are very very cool. Thanks for all the content you're bringing us.
I’ve been to Aston Villa v West Brom as a neutral. Also, stood in the Holte End and it was pretty lively stuff with volleys of abuse being hurled across the pitch from both ends. I really enjoyed it. Got talking to a few Villa fans at half time and they realised we weren’t from Brum and we got a few funny looks.
Thank you for giving the Sheff derby a nod.
Would love to see you sometime soon covering Indian football and culinary. Trust me, would be a treat and experience of lifetime :)
So nice the hear a shout out to Baggio!
yooo you are awesome, thank you for the content!!! and please come to Schalke!!

Love the channel. You need a contract with Sky or BBC. However... just one tiny thing... the title of the video was a little misleading. I ALMOST didn't watch it, but if i had known it was an amazing Q&A, it would have been a must watch! Again, very minor opinion but hey how am i to criticise what is quickly becoming one of my favourite KZhead channels. Keep up the excellent work!
Nice one on the Type O Negative mention. I saw them at Wacken 2007, tremendous band.
Any Toronto vs Montreal match, football or hockey. Congrats on 300,000 subs 🔥🔥
Japan is great for football, you should get over there. I've never seen fans quietly waiting for their turn to chant before and couldn't imagine the same ever happening at my club's ground, Elland Road.
Chesterfield Vs Mansfield deserves a mention. A rivalry that goes way beyond just a few miles.
Mansfield are poor rivals though, Spirites fill their ground and I've seen more Barnet fans at ours then what Mansfield bring. 😂
@@SpireUtd ha yes that's true, I've seen Town take 3 sides of MTFC's ground. Still though, the rivalry and hatred goes deeper than just that little stretch of the A617 😆
Somehow you showed up in my recommended section and now i cant stop watching your vids. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! Very kind :)
the premier league was able to market itself the way it did and change viewership and the way football in england is followed by fans by modeling it after the nfl in the states. tv deals with cable networks were where the money really was. the modernization of britain's telecom infrastructure in the late 80s/early 90s was a pretty large factor. the internet's success a decade later was also a major contributing factor.
Your music taste is goated
Shrewsbury vs Wrexham completely underrated. Has a whole edge of England vs Wales surrounding it between two border towns- absolutely hate each other. If they come up next season i'd recommend heading to it!
If I can get a ticket, definitely
Wow! Baggio getting some love makes me happy.
Cool stuff. Your biggest fan from Luxembourg.
Fratton Park is amazing. You should definitely try it out especially when it is the south coast derby.
I don’t know if you are in my side, but I have been having a debate with friends on both sides, Pompey and Saints, and they agree with me, there are 3 problems. 1. The 1% Saints friends who say Pompey are s***, 2. Calling each other Scummers. 3. The 657 crew denying being Racist, and causing trouble, towards Black players, of the club.
I would love you to review the Moroccan Derby one day, I'm sure You'll enjoy the rivalry between Raja and Wydad. The next level of passion is in the Mohammed V Stadium ! Keep up the great work I get to experience being in an English stadium through your videos !

No Spurs vs Arsenal for the rivalry? I'd also say it's the most consistently entertaining derby out there.
Nieve Pegg, Cambodian glory hunter.
LOL ❤ it, pegg is cool
If you come to India ever, make sure to visit Kolkata and its rich football culture with its legendary Kolkata Derby (Asia's oldest rivalry East Bengal FC vs Mohun Bagan SG)
I didn't think you could get any cooler, but then you mention you like Type O Negative. Nice one.
Excellent video again Nieve! Did you know that the bitter rivalry between Sunderland and Newcastle dates back to the English Civil War, particularly following the Battle of Boldon Hill in 1644, long before SAFC and NUFC existed 😊
Yes, but now it's about football ... a much more serious subject.
Who won ? neither.
Do you ever find time to...........breathe Nieve! Now then, the A52 Forest v Derby derby has its moments! Love your channel btw.
I prefer to call it the East Midlands Derby as it's the only one that really matters in the region.
Very interesting and entertaining video. Great way to understand British football through your eyes. Keep it up. Really enjoying your commentary
great shouts on the Bolton players, another great i remember very well is Ivan Campo
As an American Newcastle United fan in a city that has been big into English Football before TV companies did fan fests in cities like Nashville and Orlando. I can tell you that even here people don't understand that the Tyne Wear Derby started centuries before football existed. It's got similar economic talking points that Portland and Seattle in MLS have here but it's a lot deeper.
Wouldn't mind a video of you pairing up footballers and musical artists/bands, how their styles and vibes match and what not
Cool idea, this!
How happy I am to see you again, jiij is my favorite football vlogster 😊😊

@@stuntpeggnieveI wouldn’t have been your type then, after liking Ball games, as I am a Soul person.
SOAD? I love you even more
I am obviously bias, but Midlands rivalries are as intense as it gets. Take West Brom - Wolves, we have faced each other like 4 times over the past decade and the hatred has not waned one bit! The funniest thing about this hate is that these people are our neighbours, colleagues and friends any other day of the week, but when it comes to football…pure hatred! It’s dumb but that is the reality of the situation. In a way, playing your rivals every season probably eases those tensions. I would hardly say Arsenal-Spurs or Liverpool-United are incredible atmospheres nowadays. They are no longer special occasions Also, exceptional music taste Nieve🤟
I have recently discovered your channel and I am loving every video! It kinda reminds me of "la media inglesa", a spanish channel that talks about english football too, you could try a collab with them Keep doing your stuff! :D

She might have been born in Rochdale. She attended the game last year when they got relegated from the Football League. One of her best videos.
I think you are an absolute superstar. I love your work.
Whenever a girl says she is as passionate about music as she is about football, and then goes on to list the range of genres she listens to (from S.O.A.D to Little Mix to Billy Idol)... I dunno it just instantly makes them undeniably attractive in my eyes 🤷🤷🤷
Agreed
Technically only half English football, but Wrexham/Chester cross-border derby is always a huge security risk
Is that you Ryan? Gtfoh.
Well if you want to be even more technical then it's not even half English, it's a fully Welsh derby. Even though Chester is an English ground, their stadium famously crosses the Welsh border. The car park of Chester's ground is in England but the actual pitch is on the Welsh side of the border.
😂😂😂 English derbys are jokes
