  • The thing that made this comeback so iconic wasn't just that he had 13 in 35 seconds it was the team he did it against!!! This was the 04-05 Spurs who eventually went on to become NBA champions at the end of that season and T-Mac literally put together a performance like that in 35 seconds whereas any other team in the league would've called it a night and pulled the starters by then. I say this as a Diehard spurs fan who remembers that era in spurs basketball where we literally were built for defense and called boring because we didn't allow teams to put up big performances against us so to see that made it that much more impressive. I mean don't get me wrong 13 in 35 is impressive no matter who you are or who you're facing but doing it against the bobcats or clippers from that season wouldn't have been nearly as iconic as doing it against a spurs team that had both Greg Popovich and Mike Budenholzer on the bench coaching them with Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili all present as well

I remember one such game, just a reg season (vs Dallas ?) that went down around '02-04 , where at one juncture the Lakers scored something like 9 points in about 6 or 8 seconds thanks to two consecutive steals (leading to quick Kobe and Horry(?) 3s) by Brian Shaw. If I can find it I'll post the link here, cuz I've ever seen any team score that fast before or since. Oh, and eff Bruce Bowen, possibly the dirtiest player of his era.
