  • Seeing this is so bittersweet for me. I used to be an insane Pokémon card collector in the early 2000s in 5th-8th grade. Had a few binders full of cards including a ton of holos. My house was hit by a really bad storm and the entire basement flooded to the ceiling . The binders were down there and got completely soaked and got thrown away by a company that came to clean the basement afterwards. I still think about those binders all the time and imagine what super rare cards I might have had and not known about at the time.

    • I think all collectors have some deep pain about their past cards as a child. Thus we try to make up for it in the present. I’d say 4-5 years ago shit hit the tan in my household and ended up having to move everything out. I made SURE to bring those cards. All of them. One big box. Put them in the basement of my grandmothers house and never found them since. I searched that entire basement.

  • 16:25 Moment of recognition. Kadabra's are some of the rarest Pokemon cards, because Yuri Geller sued the Pokemon Co. in the year 2000, claiming Kadabra stole his iconic spoon bending trick. They stopped printing Kadabra cards until Yuri Geller came to a comprise with Pokemon Co. allowing them to Print Pokemon Cards again in 2022. So think about it, Every Pokemon from base set has been reprinted, to some variance, except for Kadabra. And if collectors want to collect the rarest Pokemon cards, then they should look into Kadabra cards. This man gets it.

  • What a pleasant stroll down memory lane. I had 1st edition of every holo as a kid in middle school. I sold my 1st edition Charizard for $80 to buy Donkey Kong 64 when it was released in 1999. At the time it was worth only $100-120. A few years later I ended up selling my entire binder of Pokemon cards at a garage sale for a painfully stupid amount, I basically gave them away. I want to say for $15. Definitely less than $50. At that time I remember everyone I knew saying they weren't worth anything anymore and it was "just a fad like Beanie Babies" and that sadly became my final verdict. Looking back, it's one of very few true regrets I have. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

But are they worth that in a normal persons mind? Come on now no. Do I like pokemon and do I think a charizard card of way back then is cool? Yeah sure. 100k cool? No lmao more like 10 euro cool

    • @@Teih. I see what you're saying, but I wasnt going there. Because I think lots of stuff that isnt necesairly needed to survive, is worth the money. Vacations, phones, comfortable chairs, nice televisions, decorations that you like. Anything really. Its not needed, but its more worth the money than a pokemon card with these crazy prices. If I imagine I have everything I need and theres barely a thing I can think of that I would like to buy. I would still not buy a card like this over 50 dollars, even if I was interested in it. Thats how off this price is with the actual value imo.
