VERY NICE VIDEO!!! Just earned a new subscriber!! I just purchased a 1969 ford galaxie convertible and the seats are excellent just faded in spots. This was PERFECT!! Thank you Sir!!!
Thanks brother I truly appreciate that! Just take your time to move slow. It will come out nice. Thank you so much for being here.
Merch idea: Shirts that say "Now, don't get silly on me!" with a cartoon Slade underneath text. Would be happy to provide designs!
Thanks!! That would be funny!! 😂
Very nice illustration, One tip on rattle spray cans I was taught also was to clean the tip like you showed and then turn upside down and spray till the clean air, LOL, (propellant) comes out, clearing the nozzle path. I re-stained years ago some leather corvette seats when I was rebuilding it. Luckily, I was able to buy the stain at an automotive paint store and used an air compressor.
Yes very good tip, I like when people add into the comment section. I have turned my cans upside down quite often then sprayed, I didn’t think to bring that up on here. Thank you so much
I usually have a rag with a little acetone to wipe it clean and I've never had issues with a clogged nozzle later on. Most cans of paint I've seen say to do turn upside down like you said but I've always been convinced the company wants us to run out of propellant to move on to the next can. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'll remain unmoved on this quest to stick it to "big paint" lol
Love how that seat turned out. Well done.
Thank you Ray! I truly appreciate that.
Awesome video! Looks amazing!
Awesome!!! looks great thanks for your time and video Slade see ya on the next one.
Thank you Doug, I appreciate that.
Top shelf information. Great video.
Thanks my friend I appreciate that.
I just finished detailing my VW for a show tomorrow. came in and watched this video👍 it doesn't get better than that on a Friday early afternoon. BTW what's under the towel?.. 🤐lol 😁👍🇩🇪
Thank you my friend, I hope you enjoyed the video. Those were speakers, on the workbench I didn’t want any overspray getting on them lol
Thank you for the video. That looks great! By the way, I don't cut Totally Awesome either.
Thank you my friend, I like to use at full strength. It says to cut it with water but I never bother
Hi Colored paint has dye in it for color. Dye is just the colorant. For soft, flexible surfaces, dye is appropriate. Paint is best for hard surfaces.
Thank you Mark, I appreciate your chiming in.
nice job.
Thanks Jim!
It looks brand new top job
Thank you Dave, I truly appreciate that.
Looks amazing. I did my Comet back seat with this stuff. Works great!
Thank you my friend! It truly works very nice.
How well does it hold up? I have a red area on my snowmobile seat that I would like to be black
@@outdoorvisions628 I have to say it has held up good. I have used it a few times. It looks fantastic and quite durable
Good job. I use SEM brand paint
SEM is good stuff!! Thanks for the kind comment!
We have a vinyl seat that goes in a horse drawn Sleigh and we want to change it from black to red. Do you think that would work? Now you changed yours from a light color blue to a dark color black. We can see that working out OK
the right way is the proper way.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Oh yeah! I also use a magic eraser when cleaning the seats. The abrasive nature helps the dye adhere better. I haven’t used that VHT brand before. Does it stay glossy?
This one will stay glossy. It depends which one you buy. I’m sure you can buy an matte finish also
👍
Thank you!
nice job,how do you deal with the crease area where the bottom and back meet?
Thats a pain! I try and spread...that area....
Thanks for the video, how has it held up over time?
Actually quite well! Truthfully when you take the time and do the prep work it sticks very well. Thank you for posting.
I'd totally pressure wash it
It did cross my mind. I need a new pressure washer though. Or I need to try to repair mine.
Great idea, but it has a style of Paint and modification
I really like the style of the seat I thought it was nice.
@@SladesVWBeetle nice😍 job
🤩 🤩🤩 🤩🤩🤩 💯💯💯 👍 👍👍 👍👍👍 👍
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How long before it peels?
It’s all about the prep work. But I think you already know that. I have one that is three years old that has never peeled yet. But I cannot verify how long to be honest with you.
But how durable is it?
Honestly, I have done it this way for many, many years! Nothing is like original. But I’ve had some last five or six years and even longer. If it’s a work truck or a work vehicle. Obviously it’s going to take a lot more abuse
@@SladesVWBeetle That was going to be my question too! ive got a 78 Datsun f10 i wanted to change the seat colour in. enjoyed the video also btw.
Looks like a seat out of a Cheyenne truck 🤔
I believe it was Mike, I really liked it
It's gonna crack in no time
I actually did my last one the same way, so far, four years, and still looks good! Fingers crossed!
