it is a great feature but its a shame they couldnt hide it behind the dimmer knob
Great idea 👍🏻
Exactly. They could fit a larger control knob which would cover slotted know of the potentiometer.
Or have a secondary face-plate which unclips without revealing the wiring.
Fabulous kit.
Thank you sir How does tweeking brings in complete effectiveness of dimmer into play,?
Good idea MK.
Bloody good you two. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
thanks paul
Good honest review and pretty neat having the potentiometer on the front. BG Nexus have a spacer where the back box is too shallow (bit of a hack I know) - MK have the same?
On the dimming cheap dimmable lamps, you can also use a better dimmer to get better low end performance, which if there are a lot of lamps can be significantly cheaper. I'm not enamoured by the Varilight V-Pro dimmers, but I've not yet found anything else that comes close to their performance and features. I often want to dim the high end as well as the low end. I think my biggest frustration with them is the super slow soft start that cannot be adjusted.
I feel exactly the same. I don't think "soft start" is a feature, it's just annoying. It reminds me of CFL bulbs which took a while to warm up. And it makes the dimmer more difficult to adjust to the level you want.
Yeah, I think I’d want the electronic stand-on-your-head learning mode for looks.
From my last comment having the dimmer were it needs to be pushed in to trim the low-end. A dual preset in the same package were the shaft is pushed in to turn the low-end potentiometer in side the unit. Easy not pot on the side. As am thinking different brand of LED lights will need a slightly different setting.
Excellent idea of yours, as a slight variartion - pull to set, because less likely to be pulled accidently whereas 'leaning' on it whilst passing may occur more often.
hmm, could those dimmers work with 110 volt or with cieling fans?
Could you do a video for the useability and the regs (in how they comply) with regards to the old 3A and 5A socket outlets???
Thanks Mark - we'll put it on the Q&A list.
Bs546 sockets were commonly 2Amp 5Amp and 15Amp. Don’t remember seeing a 3Amp version.
@@jamesdyas542 correct, there was no 3A version
These sockets are mainly used in commercial and industrial
They are useful when it is necessary to have a non-standard outlet for specific loads to stop people trying to plug in unsuitable appliances. My reading of BS7671 suggests that they are still perfectly legal as long as correctly rated circuit protection is in place.
Good evening gents! Does anyone have recommendations for y.y. Flex insulation strippers? I have tried the Knipex ergo strip but have had poor success with it. It's that or a knife right now but I have a job coming up with a few hundred lengths of it so all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Try one of these - you can adjust the cutting depth - kzhead.info/sun/pquFhcykhIOFrYE/bejne.html
@@efixx looks good, thank you kindly. I'll give it a go.
Quality review guys, the dimmer itself doesn't look very appealing to the eyes. I'm a little unsure about this one. 🤔
Is the feature a rope edge brass cover
Not yet - but stay tuned a treat for rope edge fans coming very soon!
Seems like electricity and lighting in the UK is a pain. Maybe it is the higher voltage or paranoid regulatory folks but in most US. states a homeowner can replace an existing outlet or switch legally with no hassles. One of my favorite dimmers is the Lutron Skylark dimmer. Once installed there is a small finger adjustable switch that allows you to set the low end, dimmed value. Just put the faceplate on and the adjustment pot is covered. Considering how long LED bulbs last you shouldn’t have to reset that pot.
Always good to hear of how things are done in usa, thanks. The faceplate idea seems to be an excellent idea - we do have gridswitches in uk that have an exterior faceplates. Historically gridswitches have not been particularly popular in houses but are being fitted more often now, especially when multiple switch modules are needed at a single location.
My thinking is why not have this set up so the dimer is pushed in and adjusted for the low-end.
lots of variants on the "how to set low end" - on most rotary dimmers pushing the pot is also the on / off function.
@@efixx My thinking is push in so it locks in to the second preset a bit like on old old old car radios were you pushed in the volume to I just the volume the back speakers.
Perfect if you work in or visit a broths 🤣👍 all you need now is for the lamps to be Red
efixx red?
@@efixx now that’s an idea, Coat the lamps in red with the eFix logo so when you dim them they fill the room with the eFix logo 😂👍👍👍 Great video guy’s as always 👍❤️⚡️
So you can install and adjust it no treble at but not so ace on looks . Looks cheapo
with the lights dimmed you'll hardly see it!
double box, no 2 way so retrofits limited..I'm out....the min dim thing is done at install and nobody cares after that....other than that the base range is ok have trialled some and would use but nowhere I use has them in stock, order only.
Or you could just not be so picky over a light 😂😂
Surprised to see you contemplating the use of nasty old round pin plugs with unsafe, uninsulated live pins. Bad idea.
You can get insulated versions
I’ve always used MK accessories unless the client asks for something different. This MK switch is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen. They have lost their way big time
It looks nasty
