  • Danielle Collins on the court seems sort of tough but she is concentrating on her game, trying to achieve her best. She is a hard worker who played college tennis on Florida's public courts while others had personal coaches. She achieved everything on her own. She is always respectful of her opponents in her speeches. She did not win this championship but she is on the right path to win one soon. Ash Barty is an example of a player with class and dignity at all times. Congratulations to both players!

  • Classy and emotional speech by Collins. Not often do we hear the tournament volunteers get a thank you with such genuine regard. Collins is a supreme competitor and gives it her all...she's knocking on the door of all the Slams now. She doesn't do much wrong, you have to outplay her to beat her. Americans must be proud of Danielle but Australians are too. She impressed everyone with her spirit.

    • @@Q_from_Star_Trek Very hard to say but I think Barty because she plays every point in the moment and is not distracted by what happened or could happen. Barty is the most mentally tough player I have ever seen and that includes the men. She also has a lot of shots and weaponry and can therefore adjust her game point by point. But Collins definitely challenged her. She's very street tough, that's for sure. She will gain great confidence from this when she gets over her disappointment and I can see her challenging Barty in the future...if she is in the zone as the Danimal she could win too

    • At 28, she's two-and-a-half years older than Barty, but has never been inside the top ten on the WTA ranking. I have problems seeing anyone her age suddenly taking such a major step. On Monday she will be #10. I guess that's a start.

  • What a gracious human being! As an 🇺🇸 with All our lack of humility it is great to see a champion like Danielle represent the best of our culture. Climbing up from nowhere, fighting with guts, overcoming severe illnesses and trials, fighting with more guts, a team of tennis “nobodies” at your side, etc. The tennis elite “snobs” would have you believe she’s crude and disrespectful in her intensity, but just like Rafa (w/o 20 GS’s 😉) she’s intense on the court and gracious off the court.   • Excellent 2 weeks & great speech. Hopefully she can battle through the ailments and keep doing well. You can see she digs deep when she plays. The match between her and Tauson was inredible. Collins had to battle for every point and cruised through her next 2 matches. Bartys court coverage was incredible in the final. Collins moved her around quite a bit and Barty was able to track em down. The womens game is very good and I think these 2 are going to be battling in more finals.

    • The match with Clara Tauson (DEN) was phenomenal, they both played amazing, and they had to fight with that scorcher, too. Danielle came back from 3-5 in the decisive set to defeat Clara, and the next match with Elise Mertens, was by no means a piece of cake, either.

  • What a result! Coming back from 5 - 1 down was amazing! Was very surprised with Collins complaining about the crowd multiple times.....the crowd wasn't being overly loud or disrespectful at all.... I've seen a million times worse all around the world.... I think as soon as she stopped being focused on the game and starting obsessing over an imaginary crowd shed lost it, shame, would have been nice to play a 3rd set

I Think the crowd Should've cheered even louder......     • @@Q_from_Star_Trek Yes, if you understand where a person is coming from, you can better understand their behavior. In Danielle’s case, despite having a successful college career, no one respected her since she wasn’t a great junior and turned pro later in life. Also college tennis is very raucous and competitive so the liberal pundits were offended by her. I love her, hope she continues to do well.

  • Saw her yelling at herself for losing her match against Hsieh during the Sydney International back in 2019 and seeing her grow and reaching the AO final is truly incredible.
