For future reference (I know you won’t see this, but if anyone here has the same problem) Fire Resistance improves your visibility in lava by quite a lot, at least in bedrock edition. It helped me a lot when building a castle in the middle of a lava lake :)

7:33 To reference the full netherite beacon thing, Mumbo is actually pretty close. According to the equation 4x9x((3x3)+(5x5)+(7x7)+(9x9)), it would actually take 5,904 ancient debris, & another 5,904 Gold Ingots. So he wasn't that far off!
You don’t need the parentheses for 3*3, 5*5, 7*7, and 9*9 because pemdas/bodmas will make them go first anyway, the only ones you need are the one that encompasses everything after the 4*9
I dunno if it worked this way when the video was made but you can stop the campfire particles from going through blocks by leaving a 1 block gap between the campfire and the block above it.

Fun fact about building a netherite beacon I did some maths: 1 bar of Netherrite needs 4 pieces of netherite scrap 1 block needs 9 bars so 9 X 4, which is 36. A full beacon has 4 layers which measures at 3x3, 5x5, 7x7 and 9x9. That's 164 blocks. So in conclusion you would need 164 x 36 scrap, that's 5,904 pieces of scrap and the average amount of ancient debree in a chunk is 1.7. You would need to dig out over 3,472 chunks of the nether to get a full beacon! Anyway thanks for coming to my tedtalk
