  • The 6.0/4L80 is not a fast combination, that's for sure. But they will literally run at full load and full throttle for 300-400k miles or more. What's your check engine light on for? Could that be affecting the acceleration?

  • Towing my boat (22 foot 4500 - 5000 lbs) with my 03 H2...I just leave it in 3. I don't bother with the Tow Haul mode. I live in AZ, so in the summer you have to pay attention to the temps. But for a family of 5 packing all of our gear and the space we have inside while towing is awesome. Plus after we are done boating, we can go explore the offroad countryside. Can't find a better combo than that!

  • The 4L60/80e were analog the prior generations. In my opinion, you gotta use it old school and drop gears. The 321 behind the D gives you engine breaking and the effect of holding gears longer like the tow haul mode does. I think could get the breaking and better speed from that same truck by running it in 3 or maybe 2 even.

  • We still have our old H2 6.0. It has an electrical drawl though. It’ll kill a battery in a week if not started. Mechanically it’s been very reliable but SLOW is an understatement. Top speed towing a 6500 lbs boat in that truck was about 70 until you hit the TN hills and you’re lucky to go 50. I couldn’t make it from Memphis to Nashville on a tank of gas unloaded. That’s bad.

    @Treyk901@Treyk9014 жыл бұрын
  • The 08-09 tow much better. The older trucks like the one you have were only rated for 6700lbs while the newer ones with the 6.2 and the 6 speed were rated for 8000lbs. It toes way better. The 4 speeds are just pathetic. Also did you have tow/haul mode enabled? I didn’t see it on. It makes a big difference.

  • When they built the hummer with the 6.0, they forsure overbuilt under powered the engine. Tunes, exhaust (high flow cats) will wake them up. beyond that, HCI (Heads, Cam Intake) with slightly larger injectors really wakes them up. Beyond that, custom turbo, superchargers easily give it 75-100hp. The 6.0L 366ci engine making only 325hp is way detuned. They do that for 2 reasons, 1 it runs on 87 pump gas, 2 detuning it makes them last forever. The transmission was never anything to brag about, but if rebuilt with better parts it's pretty dang strong. I always felt like it needed better diff gears, the gearing standard of 4.10 was good for 2003, but really needs to be like a 4.56 orif you want real grunt, 4.88 maybe on 35s. 4.88 is a must if you go 37 or larger. (if my math is right, 4.56 on 37's is the same ratio as 4.10s on 35s) But I feel like it needs 4.56's on 35s, 4.88's on 37s. It doesn't sound like much, but that diff gearing change to 4.56 on 35's would really wake it's towing up and acceleration and would help in in-city gas milage quite a bit by giving it that mechanical advantage. But it really seems like the stock 4.10 gear was a really bad choice by 2006/2007 it just wasn't enough and should of been changed by GM. What kills me is guys who run 37's on stock 4.10 diffs. LOL ouch.

  • I've owned a 2500 pickup with the 6.0 and towed extensively with it. It was not nearly as slow as yours...I think there's something wrong with yours. Of course, the big tires don't help but it should be similar other than that.

    • The H1 runs constantly in 4 wheel drive, and the gearing is designed around that to perform better off road.

    • dedalliance1 kind of irrelevant given that he’s driving an H2...which is based on the GMT800 platform as was my truck that I referred to. Part time 4x4 with electric switchable transfer case.

  • The Hummer H2 was born in the wrong year to do well. Trucks nearly 8 years later make the H2 look normal driving down the road. The inflation of truck size has been ridiculous. Also could have benefited from a newer drivetrain
