  • All credit to the players and to the Squash TV crew too. I greatly appreciate how they edit the commentary so that the speakers can finish what they are saying even though the coverage has moved on to a different scene or to a repeat of the action. The commentators are world class and have very informative and entertaining things to say. Well done all. Keeps bringing me back.

  • 5:46 the delay in swing is such a useful weapon from Coll. He's used it a few times so far in this video alone. It really throws off Farag who looks to rely on the timing of the shot.

  • There is a noticeable change in the game of topplayers ever since Asal joined the high ranks. The forehand power shots of Asal gave him many points on the scoreboard. I definitely see more powershots the last year or so. Especially with players like Coll. Fantastic match btw.!!!

  • Coll played really well. He is only guy capable of beating Ali Farag. Whole match was played with such a great sportsman spirit. Coll is only guy who does not allow Ali to contriol the T. Thats why he alwasy take Ali to very end and beat him often. Coll was just too accurate and played agressive. Pity I did not book the ticket in advance in HK to watch it live. Missed meeting Ali. I remember meeting him in 2019 and talking to him for long time. A true gentleman Ali.

    @mehulrathor@mehulrathor4 ай бұрын
  • The Top 6 is so interesting. Farag is number 1 in everyone's mind I'm sure. But who is number 2? Elias is probably the most consistently good, but never beats Farag. Asal's peak is the highest but he cannot sustain it. Coll is the only guy who can beat Farag and it not be a miracle, but then has no dominance against Asal, Elias and co. Gawad is injured now but when he's on he is one of the few who looks capable of beating Farag. MoSho has had the best historical peak but has been a bit below his standard for a couple of years.

    @James-sw9vm@James-sw9vm4 ай бұрын
    • Agreed, but I feel Elias is starting to dip a bit against Coll. At the moment, Asal and Coll seem to be the biggest threats to Farag. If Coll can prove he can take on Asal 2.0 (Willstrop Asal), it might be his return to number 1 next season.

      @James-sw9vm@James-sw9vm4 ай бұрын
    • Age has caught up with MoSho. I like the change in his character, UK citizenship. MoSho still has fire in his belly to win before he retires. But I'm afraid his peak is not sufficient to beat the current 1-2-3. Both Faraq and Coll are highly worth ambassadors for the sport. Asal 2.0 (re-born and less blocking after serving suspensions) is still very much the wizard of skill and imagination. For such a large and arguably heavier than ideal player (compared his bodyweight/height to Faraq, Coll, Elias, MoSho), Asal moves with tremendous agility and speed often creating "How did he do that?" highlight reels.

      @victorkhong7654@victorkhong76544 ай бұрын
    • Gawad is injured again? That’s too bad. Gawad (if healthy), Farag, Coll and Asal (if his head’s on right) look pretty even, with results depending who’s on form and has a better draw, and the court conditions (I.e. fast or slow).Elias seems to have improved a bit too, so he might be right there too, but needs to beat Farag.

      @ewallt@ewallt4 ай бұрын
  • Farag is incredible and it's hard to nitpick, but I think he could be even more dominant if he hated losing a little more. Coll was always fit & fast, and has been consistent for years, but this quality of shotmaking is new. Catching Farag twice with boasts from the back, not sure how many players have ever done that! Maybe Hesham.

  • Great match...I think diving is ok but can see how it can be very distracting for an opponent when someone's close by and dives but easy to get distracted and miss your shot.....you can't be sick during a squash match or you forfeit..if something falls from your pocket it's a loss of the point....but you can slide along the floor and spoil the floor ...if you can't get to the ball without diving on the floor the rally prob has to be stopped because it goes to that area of the court once again then that's ok and it's a let. Not sure that's right...

  • I always wonder why people dont play the straight drive off the drops from the front. Can put your opponents off balance with how unexpected it can be, instead of the orthodox crosscourt drive.

    @Islandkid679@Islandkid6794 ай бұрын
    • I believe - at least at my low level - it is often the case of footwork going into the front corner. When I rush straight to the ball and reach a lot (if the drop is good) I worry I won't be able to clean the path enough if I play straight. Crosscourt lob seems to be the most intuitive solution if you are in recovery mode

    • @dzimi2233 nice explanation, makes sense

      @Islandkid679@Islandkid6794 ай бұрын
    • Another reason not to straight drive, is that if your opponent gets into position to hit it properly, it turns into a strok (a lot!)

    • @antonybateson9060 yeah, I suppose, still, can pull it out of the bag from time to time

      @Islandkid679@Islandkid6794 ай бұрын
    • The textbook is to avoid a straight drive in order not to give the opponent a chance to get awarded a stroke if they are in position to play it. I like that return as it partially obscures the ball until it is past the player. Only then can the opponent see the drive hugging the wall and respond to it. It takes away time from the opponent. Racquet prep is the same for straight wall drive and cross court. Only the follow through reveals the swing path and the opponent would only hear the sound first before seeing the swing path.
