  • When Colin Firth was first asked to play Mr. Darcy, he refused. When he was asked for the second time, he told his brother, Jonathan, about it and Jonathan said, “But isn’t Mr. Darcy a great romantic hero?” Colin agreed that he was and then Jonathan proceeded to laugh his head off and told Colin there was no way he could ever be a great romantic hero. Naturally, this made Colin mad so he showed everyone just how wonderful he could be. Thanks, Jonathan! We owe you one!

At this point he has no idea she might be thawing (because one is always the last person to know if a woman fancies you), he's just on his best behaviour, pleased she's there and not tearing him a new one - and she is sort of conveying "am I being kind enough to your sister?" vibes. But she is, I agree definitely more interested in him and prepared to reevaluate him. But I agree, it's a rather nice look of new understanding.

      @tyrannosaurusrachael@tyrannosaurusrachael8 жыл бұрын
    • +Tsukiko Mikihara That is what makes him a true gentleman, a member of the aristocracy, manner and behaviour when in the presence of ladies. His position at the top of 19C society, ensured he knew how to behave in public. His manner and behaviour at the start of the novel, was only towards his inferiors, or those below him socially. It was only Elizabeth's abrupt and forthright behaviour towards him, that brought him out of his shell. He saw her as an equal, even though they mixed in totally different circles. One of Brontes masterpieces.

I realized cave girls and cave women doubtlessly did the inhale-arm lift-which if one thinks about it sounds like a hydraulic shovel for displacing ground and making a big hole to drop into, and quickly too. I laughed and laughed all over again. 😊 thanks!

  • I will say, about two years ago I watched this series for the mere purpose of criticizing it so I could see how the 2005 film was so much more superior, in terms of the actors playing the characters, the soundtrack, and like all my other fellow Americans who get bored so easily: the length. But WHOA. I was not expecting to love it as much I did. Minutes into the first episode I felt really connected to the characters and their believable portrayals from the actors, while also feeling ashamed of how I had judged it so quickly. And now every year around Christmas time (around the time when I first saw it) I still get the same sensation as I did before as I hear the notes of the opening credits. And I get excited to go along the journey with Lizzie Bennet of falling in love with Mr. Darcy all over again. I don't think anything on TV or film has elicited a feeling like that in me, I'm glad I hold this one so dear to my heart!!
