Storm Ciarán was intensifying during the day, but was straight on the runway coming from the south. We always need some extra concentration to perform a landing in these conditions.

    • Totally true! During disembarking of the passengers I came outside the cockpit to chat with passengers and their experience. Some were very happy we landed safely at Amsterdam!

  • 968 hpa very low pressure...yes very doable as the wind was on the nose.....20/30 degrees off and it would have been a different story....40/50 degrees off??? not sure?? dancing rain on window shows how strong the wind was.....nice bit of bumping around too!!! Love it...i was once in a Turbo arrow and my passport flew out of my breast pocket in a severe down draft......great!!!! Thanks for posting.

    • As long as we stay within the 33kts crosswind limit we are able to land. (So total wind can be higher as long as the crosswind component is not exceeding 33kts). It was really a strong wind, but on the nose, making it a kind of easy... (But it doesn't guarantee a good landing!) Thanks for your comment and support!

  • Not sure anybody has said this yet but that was a pretty excellent use of music, too. Not overhyped, nor underwhelming. Perfectly complimented the footage. Excellent work by consummate professionals getting people safely to their destination. Nicely done, sir.

  • Geweldig man!! Ik kijk vaak naar je video’s maar deze zat ik al op te hopen. Bizar zeg 968 Hpa. Dik respect hoe jij zo’n kist aan de grond zet, voor de mensen met vliegangst moeten hier naar kijken, ze stappen de volgende keer relaxer het vliegtuig in 😃👊🏻😍

    • Afterwards I've been speaking with some passengers... they were truly happy with the landing and that I took the time to speak with them. From our cabin crew members I understood we received an applause! That doesn't happen very often these days...

    • @@mightymkl can I ask, if you have the engine bleeds on during start-up, in which case as soon as the APU bleed is turned on, the Master Warning illuminates....OR do you put the engine bleeds on with the Engine generators after start? thanks

    • So the engine bleeds stay always on. Except when a non-normal or technical issue arises to switch off the specific bleed air switch. But we also use the APU to start the engines. As soon as the engine bleed air switches and APU bleed air switch are on the Dual Bleed amber light goes on. Reminding us not to use more as idle thrust on the main engines once started. When both engines are started we will switch off the APU bleed air switch since also will switch off the APU. Hope this makes things clear.

  • Uitstekende landing weer. Zeker met de die storm. Tegenwind is altijd goed. Maakt de landing zeer zacht. Mooie insert van aankomst gezien buitenaf door spotters en van het weer rapport. 👍

    • Tegenwind is geen garantie voor een zachte landing hoor.... maar vaak met dit weer heb je een lagere grond snelheid waardoor een zachte landing eerder gemaakt wordt. Bedankt voor je reactie!

  • Fantastic Michael!! Had a more challenging approach when 27 was closed when approaching 18R with 240 t 30!! On my 747 from LAX. With peak gusts of 45 had to go around for 2nd attempt! Very unusual! Got windshere short final as well Goed gedaan Michael! Fantastisch! Flip.

    • Wij hoorden ook geen applaus, maar er scheen wel degelijk geapplaudisseerd te zijn geweest! Ik kreeg die info na de landing en tijdens het uitstappen van m'n cabine collega's. Verder was het voor sommige passagiers wel fijn om me nog even vragen te kunnen stellen of me persoonlijk te bedanken. Heel veel mensen waren blij dat we geland waren op Schiphol in dit weer.
