Join me as I make my way around the shoreline of Connecticut photographing raptors and take a trip to the Conowingo dam in Maryland to photograph bald eagles.

  • Love your photos & videos. I grew up down River, back when Osprey were just starting a tentative comeback. This was early - mid ‘70s, DDT banned in late 60s I believe. An Osprey flew onto a platform about 15ft up a tree. With a borrowed 8mm, I got about 20 secs of him in flight carting a nice fish in his talons. Poor guy, once he landed the fish twitched enough to escape. Fish landed on our grass, didn’t make it. And the Osprey had to go fishing again! 🥺🙄

  • I have a giant eagle nest right down the street with juveniles of all ages. They stay all year. Winter is easier to find them. But anyway. Patience pays off. Check some of my eagle videos from Connecticut if your interested

    • Jeremy T. Grant Jeremy thanks a lot bro I’m definitely going to. Would you believe this, I had to go back to the shop today to grab something. I thought to myself “I should grab my camera in case I see anything today.” I get to the end of the driveway of the landscaping company that I work at and there’s a freaking barred owl sitting in a tree right over the driveway, amazing timing! Got some great photos and video of it!

  • My dark eagle belly shots turned out very dark although I already set exposure compensation +1.3 to even +2.0. What did you do to avoid that in your beautiful photos?

  • Great stuff! Quick question for you - I'm just starting out wildlife photography and my best lens is the Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS USM. It's not the brand new one, the first one with the telescopic barrel. Is this a good enough lens for Connowingo? I can't afford a 600mm lens. Let me know what you think, please?

    • Shawn McDonough Hey sorry for the delay on this. Just saw it right now. Yes you can get away with a 400 mm at Conowingo. Especially if you’re on a crop sensor body. I’ve been there a few times and I’ve never got the super close ups that I hear guys getting about. Definitely worth the trip with a 400 mm. You can get some good images with that and with a little crop you could fill most of the frame on some shots down there!

  • Great pictures. I went to conowingo damn for the first time thus January. Eagles were sparse because the damn wasn’t down. Wondering what you are using for video?

    @barefootwomanacademy@barefootwomanacademy4 жыл бұрын
    • Taryn Pyle thank you. It’s amazing down there isn’t it? So I was there in March 2018 and there was a lot of action. I went there towards the end of last year either in November or December and it was a very chill day. I did not get away with too many great photographs. Didn’t get any of them taking fish out of the water. Kind of upsetting for the 5 hour drive there. down there. So for anything vlog type with the camera in front of my face i’m using Sony. I Wildlife stuff I’m using my Nikon d500 worth the 200-500 5.6. I also talk about that in the other wildlife video that I have
