    • Urban Dictionary is 100% created by users with minimal-if-any editorial oversight. If I made up some kind of wacky catchphrase this very instant, I could just put it up there myself right now, and it would probably stick. I know you just made a humorous comment, but I felt it worthwhile to preempt any misconceptions regarding UD being a reputable source or authority for anything - they're not.

  • A few months back I played quiplash for the first time ever, plus I was kinda "the new one" of the group, so I didn't really much knew the what to say to make the others laugh. Knowing it was a lost cause anyway, I decided to answer one of my questions with "Insaneo style" and I kid you not... it fucking flopped, of course. But my friends' understandably confused reaction told me that I was in too deep. Now I had to commit to the bit. I had to succeed where Joel had failed. I had to make Insaneo style a thing Next round I dropped one Insaneo style again and got some even more confused but also now a little frustrated reactions. I had to switch my strategy, I let go of Insaneo style for a bit to lower their guards... them, bam! Next game the Insaneo style struck back with a vengeance, it was still frustrating as ever but now in a more innocent way. People begun using the phrase too to add to the confusion. It wasn't until we were done playing that I told them what I was making a reference to. After that Insaneo style became an inside joke of sorts, where it constantly flip-flops between being so unfunny it's funny or just plain unfunny. Anyways, there's a chance some of my friends might come back to this video someday. If you folks are reading I want you all to know to you are the best and I love hanging out with you

  • I have a friend who constantly makes up phrases or words effortlessly and they catch on with our friend group very easily; it goes so far and we repeat it enough that even some of my friends in a completely separate and unconnected friend group have begun saying some of those phrases! With that in mind, seeing someone try so hard to do the same and slowly losing their mind over it invokes such a bizarre feeling 🤣

The film takes something universally relatable like saying something embarrassing in an attempt to be funny or cool and goes full tilt with it. The long contemplative scenes of just driving or staring at a phone as his sanity slips away from him; you are in his head because you have been Joel. It doesn't tell you how to feel, it invites you to dig deeper. And like a beautiful symphony this all builds and crescendos in a bloodbath with all remaining friends where finally, truly, Joel goes insaneo style.
