  • I normally don’t comment on videos or posts. But you guys are showing everything that hunting can be. All of us are very thankful for that. All these people commenting your horrible people for taking that shot or for not punching your tag anyway. They are acting like they have never made a mistake or just been human. Keep up the good work guys, thanks for showing the real side of hunting and not just these KZheadrs that only show success.

    • The point is that bad of a mistake is hard to defend and should not have been made; and that if your going to be hunting mature bull elk you should be more prepared and careful about it. It is completely indefensible to just burry an arrow in a big mature bull elks hind leg and just look around for a few hours and call it a day.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Great sportsmanship in not giving up, learning, growing and sober respect for the animal. This is a necessary video to see for people like myself that have never gone elk hunting. And a fairly new deer hunter. Learn from your mistakes and get back up again. Praise the Lord for the opportunity to be out in his creation and steward the beasts of the field.

The shot was obviously not a good shot and looking back at it I know you guys agree the shot shouldn’t have been taken, but it was and that’s ok. All of us western archery hunters (that are halfway decent and get close to animals) know the feeling of busting ass and finally getting a shot. Sometimes nerves get to us and we take a less than ideal shot. Elk are tough and that elk may shake the shot off, he also may not, but shit happens and that’s ok. Live and learn, now you know what not to do lol. Love you guys and it’s always good to show the times that don’t go well and educate people on how to not make the same mistakes. Don’t let these wannabe hunters ruin your day with hate comments. “Stay hard” -Goggins

  • When you have an obvious fatal shot (which that was) that you can't recover (because it was such a poor shot), the ethical thing to do is to tear up your tag. You killed an elk, even though it died a long and horrible death. To call a deep gut shot like you made non-fatal is beyond absurd. If you were in the army, you have to know what the consequences of an untreated gut shot are. That elk died, but he probably went a long way before he went down.

    • @@brittrobertson7323 It went right through the upper front part of the bull's leg, but it went deep enough that it went right through the animal's intestines. That is a gut shot, and it WILL eventually be fatal.. Anybody who hunts will likely make a bad shot at some point. There is no way to avoid it, especially if the animal moves unexpectedly. However, it is what you do afterwards that determines whether or not you are an ethical hunter. If you make a poor shot, but the animal will likely die, and you are not able to recover the animal for whatever reason, it is time to go home and hunt again another year.

Aim small, miss small; practice practice practice .... that all i gotta say on matter! Imma guess ya probably didnt find elk neither sigh .... In future when ya in that situation, and ya know ya made bad shot, ya need to wait 24 hours, before going looking for the animal; especially with it being bigger animal (whitetail vs Elk). let em' lay and die over night, have greater chance finding them for a recover. And 2nd, i recommend calling a thermal drone company that recovers hunting animals for living. ( like the deer drone recovery company for example ) May cost ya $550 to recover it, but least ya find the animal, and not put it to waste over your f*ck up!

    • God has created so much beauty on this earth for US imperfect humans who don’t deserve any of it to enjoy. It’s very surreal to be in Gods beautiful nature with these beautiful creatures so yeah you bet I’m gonna pray and be thankful for all we have to enjoy.
