I advice you to research the great research writer necip hablemitoğlu who has been assassinated while he was writing a book called “German Foundations” It’s easy to have fun of leaders who has to protect power on himself and get paranoid. Kilicdaroglu, with their to be selected vice-presidents, are all clear about anti terrorism yet the corrupt gov. keep throwing them blatant lies to make their supporters believe the opposition and their supporters are terrorist. These actions even caused a fuss that hurt at least 15+ people(the supporters of government threw rock at the people who are there to support the opposition, in the year of 2023). Fun fact; one of the parties that supports the government, which are called Hudapar, is actually have a past of supporting terrorist organization called Hizbullah. And they are openly supported by AKP. Also, there are tons of videos of PKK that says the government reached us more than any other parties. So tell me Merve, who really supports the terrorism? • As a young Turkish I can say that this election isn’t democratic at all. Erdoğan has been our president for the last 11 years and according to law he doesn’t have the right to be a candidate for the 3rd time. Unfortunately the half of the Turkey still is on the side of his because they don’t question things while we’re drowning because of the inflation. In today’s Turkey a family barely pays their bill, mostly can’t and this bills only involves food, rent and electricity. Rents are in a level which isn’t affordable, people are either moving to worse houses or move to cheaper cities, villages. This might be our last chance now or things will come to a position where they can’t be solved anymore…

May be some people aren't impressed about Erdoğan but he made this country more stronger than the turkiye that secularists were building about 80 years, Turkey is in the G20(for those who are complaining about the economy) ,and in the 10 most strongest countries (while it was nothing in the past). I think the only problem that Erdoğan is facing is the dollar ,which US uses always to weaken the economy of other countries and Turkey is in the front.

And when no one watches them....they start getting frustrated and start going and crying "democracy is dead.....please bring the gov. that we support" As for Turkey, I hardly care bout that country...but it's obvious that at least among older gen Turks, Erdogan is quite popular.

The ruling class is the group of people that possess all the main means of production, finances, banks and the state apparatus itself, and so on. Oligarchs in short. Like those in Germany, Russia, US, China and everywhere else. The ruling class decides what president is to represent the ruling class, not some youth or pensioners.

Unfortunately in almost every country around the world, even the biggest left-leaning parties and representatives, who are supposedly anti-establishment, are beholden to the people who hold the absolutely unquestioned power even in the mind of the population, the bourgeois capital owners, due to how over-dominating neo-liberal capitalism has become after the Cold War. No matter the political affiliation of the ruling party, the 1% will never allow anything to happen to their wealth and power and will do their best to keep things the way they are.

None of your interviewees made any mention of this. Erdogan's policies resulted in strained relations with many many countries, to the point where for a long period, Turkey was isolated not only politically but economically as well. With well educated population and strong industrial base, Turkey could have been a leading nation globally. Unfortunately, Erdogan did his best to bring failures and unprecedented financial hardship across his nation. Hopefully, the young voters will manage to bring about change.

      @MarijX@MarijX Жыл бұрын
    • @@MarijX Yes, in the last 20 years Turkey made tremendous progress in industrial development, and construction of major infrastructure projects. As for the economy, I would certainly not agree with you. All you have to see is the foreign exchange rate against the Lira (about 3 Lira for a dollar when Erdogan took office, and today it's almost 20 Lira for a dollar), and consider inflation which is almost 80% in Turkey while in most other countries it's about 8%. I am not an economist, but I understand that Turkey has to import most of it's energy and other raw materials for it's industry, which requires foreign exchange.

(And with a referendum in 2017, the regime has been changed to the presidency ) Last 5 years (since 2018), he is the president.... Hopefully, Kılıçdaroğlu is gonna win on sunday at the first round... "Her şey çok güzel olacak." (Everything is gonna be very nice) 🙏🙏🙏

  • Political ideology: Young people do not align with the political ideology of Erdogan and his party, the AKP (Justice and Development Party). The AKP has been described as a center-right and socially conservative party, which does not resonate with the more progressive values often associated with younger generations. Economic concerns: Young people are concerned about economic issues, such as unemployment and underemployment, which have been significant problems in Turkey. They do not believe Erdogan's policies have sufficiently addressed these challenges or have faith in his ability to improve the situation. Human rights and freedom of speech: Erdogan's government has been criticized for its handling of human rights issues and for suppressing freedom of speech, particularly in regards to the media and political opposition. This does not sit well with young people who value open expression and democratic principles. Education policies: Erdogan's government has implemented policies that some argue have weakened the secular education system in Turkey. Young people are concerned about the long-term impact of these changes on their educational opportunities and future prospects. Authoritarianism: Some critics have accused Erdogan of displaying authoritarian tendencies and centralizing power, which does not appeal to young people who desire a more democratic and inclusive political system. Corruption allegations: Erdogan's government has faced several corruption scandals and allegations over the years. Young people do not want to support a candidate with such controversies attached to his name. Desire for change: Lastly, young people simply desire a fresh start and new leadership in their country, especially because they feel that Erdogan has been in power for too long.
