  • People don't realize how iconic this is in rugby, prior lomu big wings weren't that popular and recognized Jonah changed the whole thing we now see 120kg beats on the wing. What I'm saying is cheslin is smaller then most halfbacks(scrum half) yet no one has the answers to his game. Being a small rugby player and backline player is on the cars now.. Cheslin is special

  • This guy reminds me of the way people describe UFO's: They accelerate from zero to out-of-sight in the blink of an eye, they make right-angle turns that would kill a human-being and they can travel at high speeds, stop on a dime and then accelerate in a completely different direction at will. It's as if you crossed a greyhound with a bulldog and then taught it how to play Rugby...absolutely the most mind-blowing athletic ability I've ever seen.

  • In Stade Toulousain saw Cheslin played left wing, right wing, scrum-half, fly- half (4/5 transformation vs racing) , full-back and once he was even in the scrum like 8, and every time he was amazing.   • An incredible rugby player. The pace is one thing but his ability to slalom his way through several defenders is second to none. His side step isn't too bad either! A special player and the Springboks have missed not having him in the backline for most of the Tests played since the World Cup victory.

  • I must admit, I always doubted his defence and high balls based on his stature when he broke through. The trend for wingers seemed to moving towards 8th man stature. I'm glad I was wrong, he's definitely world class and couple more good years and he's in the list of the greats of the sport.

    • You weren't wrong before he left for France. He was a good player but certainly not the complete package yet. And as with SO many SA players, the trip to Europe was good for him! He has had the time to learn the defence and high ball skills and while I was surprised when Rassie called him up initially, it was only because I had not really been following his overseas games. PS Another one like him who definitely got overlooked was Gio Aplon. We have produced a number of these pocket rockets but have never really known what to do with them until now. Brent Russell was a prime example.

    • Karma if u saying that playing in Europe made him a better player I'm gonna have disagree. He was a very good player with loads of potential way b4 he even went to Europe and would've progressed even if he remained in South Africa. He developed with every game played. He only went there 4 money. If the Europeans game was superior, it would show with world cup victories because every1 in their national teams play within Europe. Tuolouse signed him because of his attacking capabilities and whilst he might not be the best defender, he certainly puts a shift in.

  • I'm new to rugby but this has turned out more exiting then I imagine. i'm not well versed but i can say cheslin looks like a gazelle among those giants and his side stepping makes it even more elegant. maybe his short structure keeping him lower to ground helps him since im 5'6 i'm pretty gifted with agility and short burst but not on the long sprint. jeez looking forward to see more of other greats if y'all can suggest me some ehehe😂
