  • Boomslangs are so adorable, even the females!! They have pretty faces. She looks to be in good condition, probably shed recently, as shiny and uniform as she looks. She's probably never going to see another Boomslang either haha It's surprising, to me, how many Boomslangs make their way to you despite being non native to your locality. They must love to hitch rides. Great job, as always.

    • She was in beautiful condition. The Boomslangs do occur naturally in my city, but only in certain areas. Where I got this girl I have never seen or heard of any being caught there. So she hitched a ride. But although they occur in my city, they are not common at all. I only catch maybe 4 or 5 per year.

  • Nice catch. That are the benefits of KZhead in todays time. I remember back in the 70's and 80's over here in Germany Boomslangs were described to be more dangerous than Green Mambas are and also more difficult to handle than a Green Mamba is to handle. But this video (beside other videos that I watched) clearly indicates that Boomslangs are very chilled snakes as long as one does not appear to be a potential threat to the snake.

They're even a different colour in captivity, they go black. So nice to see a wild girlie behaving so nicely. Thank you for this video. All reptiles should be left in the wild as it's so unfair to keep them like they're kept in captivity. 🐍💕🐍

    @FrankRzzo@FrankRzzo2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, the females are usually this colour. Very occasionally you get green females. Yes, it wasn't an allergic reaction. It didn't itch one bit. I think it's just the body's natural defence, to swell in the area of any trauma. By the time I reached home I just had lots of tiny red punctures. No swelling.

You can’t move the rattlesnake too far or it won’t know where it’s winter den is and I think they automatically try to find their way back to the area where it is and most of them die of exhaustion or getting hit by cars.

Any chance you could do a video and talk about the times you have taken bites over the years and where/how/when and recovery or severity of them. I'm just extremely curious and I know how dangerous this job is for you and your family and mistakes can happen. Thanks so much and I am a huge fan of yours.

    @davidsorensen7438@davidsorensen74382 жыл бұрын
    • They get up to about 2 metres (7 foot). She measured about 1.6 metres (5 foot), so she's a decent adult size. Their venom is very concentrated. A single drop of their venom can probably kill about 15 humans. Whereas a single drop of Black Mamba venom can probably kill 2 or 3 humans. So they are a lot more venomous. But... When they bite, they only deliver a microscopic amount of venom, whereas a Mamba would inject a lot more venom.

  • Hi, greetings from New Zealand, really enjoy this channel. Thankfully, we don't encounter land snakes in NZ, we get the occasional sea snake, highly venomous, but very docile. You should visit Australia, they have the Eastern Brown snake and varieties of tiger snake, both of which are highly venomous and aggressive, and all manner of venomous snakes and python. Take care out there.

      @gsf67@gsf672 жыл бұрын
    • Yes, they have very slow metabolic rates and do not need to eat that often. A meal every well or two would be enough for most species. Some species like Gaboon Adders might only eat 6 to 8 times in a year.

The fact black mambas can smell a cat or kittens and have developed a taste for stray cats is cause for why stray cats need to be spayed or neutered so they can’t have litters of unwanted cats. 🤷🏼‍♀️
