Came across this on the side of the road at Myponga SA, we saw the Redbelly chase the Brown across the road and then catch it. This video only shows the initial few minutes but the Redbelly eventually ate the Brown. To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please email licensing@storyful.com
The red belly is immune to the venom of other snakes as they are a known snake eater. They will also take frogs and lizards but seem to prefer snakes when they get larger.
Thanks, i was wondering about that.
Thank you for filming this video in LANDSCAPE MODE, the way human vision is designed.
When will we learn to just live together regardless of colour! ❤
lol
This does seem to work in theory until someone gets hungry...
🤣
Holy cow 🐮
Well , I'm a tiger snake and I gather you're something like a copper head by your emphasis on colour . Personally I've never been fond of the red bellies or browns , but fortunately for me my stripes tend to help me blend in well with my grassy , swampy territory , so they generally don't notice me .
I'm 15,000 miles away and that was still too close for me
I grew up in Australia and can say that I would rather face a Red-bellied black snake any day over a Brown snake. The Browns are much more dangerous to humans. The Red-bellies usually run for the hills when they meet a human whereas the Browns are much more feisty.
If you get attacked by a brown snake you were fucking with it. Sure they will chase you if you get in its face and start kicking at it but you would literally have to do that and continue doing that while it chases you otherwise it would just run away. Even if a brown snake was chasing you if you just stood still it would leave.
Brown snake attacks aren't exclusive to that circumstance.
Used to live just outside of Sydney until I moved to the USA, and I never saw a brown snake, but I saw plenty of red bellies. Got dry bit by one once when I was 13. Thank the lord!
Yeah, I agree, today I stepped on a red belly and it ran off into the bushes.
@@willywhy2642 Yeah, exactly, if we dont annoy or stir them, both will just look for an escape route. We aren't on their menu. Even the browns will flight rather than fight unless they are cornered or feel super threatened, even then they will generally warn with rearing up, head butting and possibly a dry bite.
Live close to Myponga. Have had issues with both those snakes. The brown is by far the most dangerous. You most likely will survive a red bellied black's bite if you seek help. A lot longer time span to receive that help. Brown, well hopefully you can get help quick.. Unless you are carrying a shotgun (and it is illegal to kill these snakes) for protection it is best you remove yourself from the danger. There are millions of these brown snakes in SA, the red bellies usually around the creeks, swamps, waterways.
Eastern brown Snakes are a common food source for larger red bellied black snakes
I clicked on this thinking, "what kind of a person would record this", then I hear Australia in the background
kzhead.info/sun/p6efp5xsaKaBa4k/bejne.html
yeah because there aren't a heap more from good old US of A??? Muppet....
@@kermita12 I wish I lived in Australia. Better than USA. Like when in hospital you don't need to sell an arm and a leg.
He’s like “2 snakes fighting till the death , lets stop recording before anything happens .. “
Legend says they still bite each other until now
They are still fighitng in 2022
Good to have closure on the description. Thank you.
From what I've read both snakes are venomous but the brown snake's venom is the far more lethal of the two. In fact, no one has ever died from a Redbelly Black Snake's bite, whereas, the Brown Snake's bite has proven fatal all too often.
True, but can The venom of the Brown Snake kill the Red Belly Black Snake? I wonder which snake won that encounter?
@@conservativesniperhunter7439 In description, the Brown eventually got eaten.
@@conservativesniperhunter7439No they are immune to the Browns venom.
The red belly actually eats them.
Some Aussie snakes can handle the venom of other Aussie snakes, the King Brown or Mulga snake is another that is venomous but hunts and kills other venomous snakes
Bloody Australia, two of the worlds top deadly Snakes (Red belly black and Eastern brown) mucking around with each other, awesome video!
redbelly isnt usually deadly
Taipan and Brown.
rustymotor lol red bellys arnt deadly. They are toxic but wont kill you. My brother had a pet for he nursed back to health and returned to the wild. It used to sleep next to him at night
@Spikey Wikey don't ex wives fit into that category ?
Red belly is harmless 😂
How fascinating, thanks for posting
I wish snakes would just get along and be friends.
Lol 😂
heheh snakes are programmed to seek and destroy. They don't have common sense. Just saw a clip of Pacman frog ... never seen them before but they will literally eat anything even their own and they don't know when to stop. Even at a very young age they are programme to just eat.
Brown Snake lives matter 😊
Red belly snake is the Australian king cobra version, a snake that eats other venomous snakes.
Size does really really matter. Sept 4, 2020.
Just saw a 1.5 m red belly in our front yard. It slithered under rocks in a retaining wall . We live in suburban Adelaide next to a creek and have frogs in our yard .
This is like watching half of a football game then turning the television off.
1:59 when you bite yourself 😂😂😂
👍 that Common Brown had bitten himself the moment he tangled with a Red Belly
THE BROWN SNAKE LOOKED HELLA MAD
I just found a northern Brown yesterday in my yard. That was tough to watch, although I completely understand how nature works especially with snakes. She's curled up sleeping on my chest though while I'm typing this so at least this Dekays Brown is safe😉Pennsylvania USA.
Is the black snake taipan?
Great footage a little info would have been nice. I have some great footage of BS hunting and catching frogs, right up to the ‘swallow’. Sad you didn’t complete the vid as to the outcome. What species was the brown snake??
Have read quite a few comments here but haven't read the feature which as someone who lives in the Australian bush, I think is the biggest or at least first consideration: brown snakes are more aggressive than blacks. Both can kill you (though the brown is the more toxic I believe), but the more immediate thing you need to know is that the brown snake is far more likely to attack you than the black. You almost have to stand on a black snake to get bitten. Get within a few feet or even a couple of metres from a brown snake, however, and there's a good chance he will come at you. Not a very pleasant experience I can tell you. Which is why we keep a sharp ended shovel at the back door!
Unfortunately we don't get to see the ending. Looks like the Red belly has a good grip over the Eastern Brown. But the Eastern brown doesn't look to be weaken. RB has a size advantage...
You forgot to mention that snakes in Australia are Australian wildlife and it's illegal to kill our wildlife very un Australian actually. And considering the eastern brown is the second deadliest snake in the world they are more venomous than the red belly's.
@@dunkodownunderRed belly has all the advantages, browns is what they eat.
2:00 In all that excitement the little one bit itself
which one was best reptile ? whose venon finished the other ?
What happened to the big finale!?
Who won???
Два семейных персонажей... Свекруня и любимая невестушка. 🤗
Legend says the brown snake is still struggling to swallow the black snake till date.
RedBelly : not a single scratch
Brown's fangs can't puncture RBB's scales. Learnt something new. Thx Sean.
Peter Clark 113qqwe
Peter Clark
Peter Clark que cobra é essa???
Peter Clark the fangs can punture the black snake..who ever said that dont know shit..the red belly is ammune to its venom...red eats brown..and if the brown was fully grown..more of a meal for red..browns to humans ..there venom is worse than red belly but..and just for more confusing..a king brown snake is much larger than eastern brown snake and is actually a member of the black snake family...not brown..they too like eating other snakes..what gives it away is there head shape..there venom is really fucked up..shares basicly same as brown and red belly..similar to a viper venom..your flesh rots and fucks ya cardio stuff
@jacktheripped a
In other countries people ran from snakes in Australia we get the close up look
Wheres part 2?
They say if you've got red bellies around your house that's good as they eat the browns. Finally a video to back that theory up. Much rather a red than a brown!
My questions are..... are they still alive? And if so why?
I’ve seen a red belly at my nature walk I’ve seen a baby brown in my backyard but I have never seen them besides that I’m Aussie and proud but this is legit cool
this is quite common for a red belly to kill a brown snake. what was the out come with this?
Do Redbely have immune to browns venom?
How close did you stand to take the footage? Lucky the brown snake was't fully grown..... then again I guess the RBB wouldn't have gone for it, if it was. I missed an opportunity to take a video of a Magpie going at it with a baby RBB in Western Sydney...
gef
fobfury fully grown the Brown snake would have been bigger ?
better the brown was fully grown mate cause adults can control there venom but young adults can’t and release shit loads of toxic venom witch more ppl die from young browns then old
fobfury is it true that in the suburbs of Australia you can get snakes literally everywhere?
fobfury is
It's rare but it can happen, a black mamba was killed in Rosenberg, tx it got into some cargo freight shipped to a big oilfield Co. In Rosenberg where there are plenty of rattlesnakes. Although it is more unlikely that anyone would witness this encounter
I was watching this intently, fascinated, and my dog walked up to me from behind and licked my leg. I screamed like a girl and thought I was dead.
To be honest, the brown snake didn't seem too bothered
Legends say they are still fighting to this day
Even to this day?
we need a *Ozzy review* on this
Did he survive
How did it end. Who got eaten?
Would have been nice to show us the rest of the video so we could watch what happens to the brown snake
I wonder who won’t that encounter?
@@conservativesniperhunter7439Brown snake gets eaten! Dog eat dog world, Funny thing is there is another version of the brown snake here in Australia called the Mulga Snake( King Brown) which also eats other deadly snakes, Would have been an interesting fight to watch red belly vs mulga, They are both around the same size and not sure if they are immune to each others poison like they are against other snakes.
i was laughing the whole time cuz it reminds me of my little brother trying to fight me
Are they both venomous?
Oh cmon on man wheres the ending???? What happened?
Kristin your dead right also if you confront a red belly black he nine out of ten times will turn around if he’s not threatened. But the brown is more likely to have a good go at you even if it means chasing you
How to fight with red belly cobra: part 1-10. Accepting your death.
Considering its not a cobra then yeah...lol..Its an Australian Red-belly black snake and they eat other snakes just like a cobra only its venom is just painful to mammals...thank fuck..
Fight wisely.
Yeah...the Eastern Brown’s venom is only 2nd to the Inland Taipan in potency. The Eastern Brown kills more Australians than all the other species combined. Too bad the red Bellied Black snake didn’t google his foe prior to his/her attack
BoilerBloodline the red bellied snake eventually ate the brown
BoilerBloodline the Belcher’s Sea Snake has the most potent venom of any snake on the planet (in fact 100 times more potent than any other snake on the planet). Thankfully they are dosile, and are not aggressive. That, and they will not bite unless they are provoked beyond belief, and they typically do not inject much of its venom. Fun fact.
"U bite me, im going to bite u back"
That's the biggest Redback I've seen! Terrific film.
That brown snake stabbed the shit out of the big guy though 👀😂
The red belly black and yellow belly black have been decimated in the lowlands due to eating cane toads. But they are making a revival and newer generations of these snakes seem to avoid eating cane toads now. They have worked out that eating cane toads is a dietary death warrant. Just what we need, snakes that can Think for themselves

EL Caballo Blanco
It's a shame those stupid dimwits brought those cane toads into this country in 1936 the toads have caused heaps of damage to the native wildlife of this land.
Where's the ending??
Which one won?
Slither.io in real life XD
zongivila You’re gonna smell my feet! Bow down to the stench!
snakes got no feet XD
2:00 um, I think your biting the wrong snake there, buddy
The brownie is like, ‘why the HELL is my 2nd most toxic venom in the world not working on this punk ass red bellied black snake’
and... where is the song numb like soundtrack?
2:01 the mf even bit itself 😢
I give a round of applause to that brown snake for being so determind he did not give up
Qual o final do vídeo
What happened? Did the brown one get away?
Snakes fighting each other. ☺
You don't say. Really?
Fun fact: the red bellied black snake is actually related to the king brown or mulga snake, and the brown snake is not.
Brown snakes are elapids and related to COBRAHS
Dude Australia seems wild. Like literally.
It doesn't look like an Eastern Brown snake, is it a Coastal Taipan?
Did he get free? Did he get eaten? What was the final outcome?
TIMOTHY WEBB its in discrition .. the black eats the brown...
Noah Stark oh! Thank you. The one time I fail to read the description, smh. 'Ppreciate it'
TIMOTHY WEBB u welcome .. when a final of a video does not satisfy me i always look on the discription ..😉
TIMOTHY WEBB Or she even. Lol
They ate each other out :)
I have heard of the eastern brown and thier venom is even more toxic then the mambas. But not the red bellied black snake. Are they venomous as well amazed that the red bellied black snake took a bite and kept on fighting. Both are gorgeous in thier own right. Nature is tough.
Are the red bellies immune to the venom of browns
The red Belly eventually ate the Brown 😮
So what was the outcome?
Where's the part 2 what happened?
agreed, dont ever kill a black snake...they keep you safe and eat rats
WORLD STARRR
Are they both poisonous?
Who won ?
a normal day in australia
The brown snake should concentrate biting the eyes of the black snake and there's a good chance that the black snake would let go.
Dan Sibayo this happens all the time. the brown snake has the most deadliest venom for snakes in aus. red belly isnt as bad bud they hunt brown snakes
Dan Sibayo, that's what I was thinking.
Dan Sibayo b
I'm sure other brown snakes would see your comment 😅😂😂😂
And they both lived happily ever after.
When two monsters bump into each other on MHW
you could not pay me enough to live in Aussie land way too many snakes and spiders that kill for me no thank, im in the Cascade mountains where there is zero poisonous snakes, just bears and cougars lol
charlee mcwhirter Charlee most Australians will never see a snake in the wild in their lifetime
bucklist item of mine is to go to Australia just to look for these kind of amazing animals
also snakes arent poisonous, they are venomous.
Australia is most certainly not for pussies.
Haha I said the same thing before I visited then fell in love.

Which snake is the black one? 🤔
Life's tough. Someone's always trying to destroy ya.
Red bellies are a good snake ! We have not had a death from a red bellie in many many years! But the brown is a completely different matter, many deaths are caused by their bite , you only have minutes sometimes if bitten, a red bellie often attacks them so its best too have red bellies around . I have a lot of snakes here where i live and their seen daily in this street. They get into garages, cars , the house, everywhere and a red bellies are always a much better one to find i can tell you!! Browns are extremely fast and will chase you sometimes if they are scared or corned. I have funnel web spiders here too and red back spidres that will kill you as fast as a snake. Hell of a place too live really! And yes im in a big city sydney!
peter clifton which suburb are you from? I am in seven hills but I havnt seen a wild snake for a vey long time?
Eric Chen Im not far from the city on the Harbour ,but there is a protected bush reserve behind me, no houses behind me, only a protected reserve and it goes down too the Harbour. So i get lots of wild life even though im in the city. snakes Gowanas millions of birds all kinds of animals. Drives me nuts some days because i cant relax if the kids are in the yard playing because of snakes, the good part is its full of kookaburra's so imagine they eat a few snakes here. Years ago i lived where you are!!
Have many people really died from snake bites in Australia? I think it's pretty rare. A guy died from a tigersnake bite at Falls I think.
Black mamba
Andy TV LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂
Andy TV no
So who won,..What was the out come
Either you finish filming them or don't post it bro
I wish nature didn't work this way and we could all just get along.
hypoeddy yeah
hypoeddy but then the numbers of animals will be rising too much that we (us and animals) must control them
ok, for that I propose sterilization. People will inevitably overpopulate the planet if we don't do that.
IKR!😭
but then we would have a world where the weak and disabled would require the strong and capable to provide them with resources constantly and for the entire duration of their lives and this would leave those more suitable to survive and thrive to have to live in a state of never reaching their potential because they have thousands of leeches draining their production value, and this would in turn reduce the motivation of the young and ambitious to the point where they too would rather do nothing and be rewarded for it, and that would just be absolute hell for everyone..... oh wait....

That brown snake is a black mamba the deadliest on earth and if you guys see one run fast as you can and I'm not joking at all
Lance Payne Deadliest snake on earth is the Puff Adder I believe. May be wrong though.
Oh for heavens sake. Most times snakes just want to mind their own business and are happy enough to put distance between you and them. The last place I lived at, I saw eastern browns all the time, and have never had one do anything other than try to get away. I will say though, that I encountered one so ridiculously small that it looked as though the eyes had been painted on. He was sunning himself on my verandah and was a real feisty little prick. I tried feeding him (after stomping) to the local kookaburra but was disappointed.
Who dies? What's the result?
What the hell was the final outcome?
