It is hard to narrow down, but these are, in my opinion, the first five submissions you should learn in Jiu-Jitsu. I based this on the criteria of versatility, efficiency, mechanics and principles. There are so many important considerations to make in regard to position and setup, but it is imperative you understand how these particular techniques work.
Let me know what your top five would be, and if you have any questions you think I might be able to help with. I really appreciate you watching, liking and subscribing!

  • This might be the most succinct and helpful video I've seen yet for getting started and practicing submission fundamentals. As a white belt, BJJ can be overwhelming with the amount of information to digest. Its also what makes it so beautiful. But as a beginner, it's important to have someone simplify where to start and what to pay attention to. Thanks for your breakdown and walkthrough of these essential moves!

Wrestlers have the mentality of never being on their back (unlike jiu-jitsu players), which really helps when on a concrete floor or road. • It depends, I would also add in Wrestling. So Wrestling + Jiu-Jitsu + Muay Thai = Deadly fighter. Wrestling to defend against takedowns and to initiate and complete takedowns. Jiu-Jitsu for all the ground game, defending against certain positions and chokes and locks while also trying to gain position and put your opponent in one. Muay Thai for deadly fists, elbows, knees and feet and for understanding how to defend and fight in the clinch. And obviously clinch takedowns add in to wrestling as well.

      @911shan@911shan5 жыл бұрын
    • shan_rocks Judo is much more helpful on takedowns than wrestling... a pro wrestler and pro judo fighter with same build will result in the wrestler getting tossed like a rag doll. Wrestling is good for control, but if you’re talking about throwing and countering throws, judo will win,

  • In my utmost humble opinion. “ Advanced are basics done correct” This is why truly appreciate your take on how you teach BJJ, as you make the curriculum extremely relatable, even to those who are just starting to venture into the world of grappling as a whole, and also delve into the self protection context of how to appropriately apply the art. Your videos have aided me tremendously as you point out not only the techniques “ as is” but you always give away those extremely important snippets of vital information to increase the efficacy of said techniques even further. Ie “ put his pinky to his other ear” true gold right there 🤣😄👍🏻 Many teachers” show and tell” but a sign of a true teacher is that he “ shares and expounds upon” not only knowing the why, but the how and the reason for the why. And that is the mark of experience and comprehension, not only knowing and doing. Appreciations for sharing your comprehended knowledge with all of us. Always looking forward to learn more from you sir. 😃 Sincere regards. Fellow martial brother. Tom Framnes. Norway

  • Just had my second session and we did sparring. I wrestled varsity in high school and that session felt like my first wrestling practice. I was soo lost. My wrestling experience is helping a lot but I would get into positions and literally say “I have no idea what to do” haha. I’m loving it so far! Thanks for the tips man

  • Went to my first open mat last night and I must say coming from a wrestling background is a gift and a curse. You know what to do until you don’t. I worked myself into so many problems because of that wrestling mindset. Overall bjj was freaking awesome, sore as hell and bruised all over but definitely something I want to continue.

  • i am in a kids bjj class and im a white belt with 3 stripes, before watching this video, I only knew straight arm lock and americana (idk if i spelled that right) from side control, now i can hit both from mount. As someone actually participating in this amazing sport, i find this video very helpful to not only improve in self defense and maybe get some medals, but to show my coaches that i do more than practice 2 hours a week in class. Thank you for this amazing video!!

  • This is excellent. I've been "rolling"/wrestling with my husband for years, but lacked interest in learning submissions because I'm kinesthetically slow. Now that I'm doing classes I'm defending but have no idea what to do when I get the chance. I'm going to keep watching. Hopefully I can get a submission soon! 😅

  • Always fun to see other people’s opinions. Personally My number 1 submission is a triangle choke. But I do have the Kimora and Americana used successfully on me more often than I would like.

  • Based on where you often find yourself and how easily accessible these submissions are (either by set ups or by virtue of position) my thought process was similar to yours: armbar, kimura, guillotine, RNC, but instead of americana I opted for arm triangle

  • This video is a 10 out of 10! I used to use these submission regularly when I was practising BJJ. Many years later, without training I almost forgot everything. Now I´m training Judo, and we don´t work a lot with submissions on the ground. My team mate just want to pin you on the ground with kesa katame or side control. I end up often in mount or in closed guard but I´m not able to finalize my position advantage. Sometimes the simplest way is also the most efficient one. Thanks for your video!
