With the trail being on a south-facing slope, Apgar Lookout is the easiest way to get some elevation in Glacier National Park in the spring. The forecast called for a bluebird day, so we packed our lunches and hit the trail for a lovely spring warmup.
Nice Spring hike in the "Last Great Place.” Thanks for the post Jake.
Always enjoy your videos.
Been anxiously waiting for this first spring hike update, Jake! Good to see a few glacier lillies! Wonder what the lack of snow pack and early melt means for upcoming fire season? My young grandsons love it when a new video comes out! They can hardly wait. Ya'll take care and keep the content coming this spring and summer. I will keep touting your map(s) for you for sure!
Sweet! Sorry for making you wait so long. Hope to get more out as we explore more. I'm not always sure about how the spring snowpack affects fire season. My inclination is that it's worse for stream levels, but probably also doesn't help if it dries out too quickly. I think that it being much hotter (like hitting 100 or close to it in July) coupled with no rains later in the summer can really make it a tinderbox.
Nice fine on the orange crowned warbler, the warblers are starting to migrate north, I seen 12 spices so far this year more to come in Pennsylvania just starting out
Yeah, you east coasters get such a variety! We have the hummingbirds though. Saw my first Calliope today at my feeder!
Nice, but I remember it being hot and dry last time. I was not as fresh as you two when I finished.
Did you go in April or July/August? That time of year can be brutal on that south-facing slope with no shade!
I find your lack of snow disturbing, as Vader would say. Going to be another long hot dry summer.
Yeah, unfortunately, the forecast matches your foreboding words. I've seen "Above normal temperatures". Boo.
