  • I flew an M20F for several years. It was a group-owned plane we bought new in 1968 for $20,000, complete with one Narco Nav-Com radio. It replaced an M20C (same cabin size as the M20E). The longer cabin provided sorely-needed leg room for the rear seat passengers.

  • My only critique of this particular ’F’ is that the oil door Dzus fasteners are not streamlined with the airflow. That would drive me (further) nuts. I would HAVE to re-rivet the receptacles rotated 90°. That’s just me. Yes, it’s an illness. 😊 I flew a friend’s B model from Hemet, CA to Salt Lake one night w/ no gyros. VFR, but not fun.

  • If the upgraded exhaust brings the M20F's power up to 230, does that mean it now requires a high performance endorsement to fly? If yes that's a slight disadvantage over the standard exhaust for sure. Must increase fuel burn too.
