  • Oh wow. I hope your woolly jumpers are safe and on high ground. I lost everything in floods in northern NSW Australia last year when the rain didn't stop for weeks on end and the rivers couldn't cope with the enormous run off. The sodden ground couldn't take it either. It happened so quickly. Even my car floated away as I waded toward it. It can happen so quickly. The aftermath was horrendous. So many of us homeless, pets and livestock drowned. Please take care and have an evacuation plan. I was in a non flood zone.

  • I'm speechless to the amount of rain that poured down on you. I have lived in coastal towns most of my life and have experienced flood conditions due to N'Easters and hurricanes but always wind. As a child I lived in Germany in a small village and when it rained there, the creek swoll so bad it blocked the roads and flooded the fields. Love your videos and especially the pups, they are who brought me to your channel. My Harley was a Border Collie and I have had many breeds in my lifetime. I regret I didn't live on a farm for him. I digress. Stay dry!

  • I live in Colorado, and yes, I have. A couple of times. It's a lot more unusual here, though. There are parts of the US that deal with flooding on a more regular basis, especially during hurricane season. The weather in the US can be quite violent. I hope it dries out soon for you. I'm glad you guys are safe.

    • @kathleenmccrory9883 I have been kind of lucky. I had to buy a house in a hurry, because the place where I was living went up for sale 2 years ago. I had 10 weeks to apply for the financing, find a house at the end of summer in a tourist town, buy it and move out. I just squeaked in, and I was lucky to get a house that was built in 95, has a cement foundation, and sits up the top of a very steep Hill. So I have not had any issues with water in my basement. 🤞🤞

  • Hi Sean the Sheepman, we have also had bad floods especially in the Western Cape this time, in South Africa where I live. I am in Johannesburg, so very high up. We tend to veer between massive droughts (years' long sometimes) and floods in this fickle land! I do hope all your sheep and cattle, not to mention you, your wife and family, and the precious dogs, remain safe. I totally love Borders, Border Crosses, and wolves! So very, very intelligent.

  • I live in the desert of the southwest, in Arizona USA. We can have heavy rain that can last a few hours and drop an inch or 2. Causing flash flooding, and then, in a flash it's gone! Does cause damage on the lowlands, but if you're up high, you just watch it run down. Your Country is so beautiful and green so I know a guaranteed rainfall is why. Thank you for sharing, your dogs, family and country. I enjoy learning about all of it.

  • That is a LOT of rain! I lived in S> California during the El Nino years in the late 1970's (I think?) & we had rain for hours and hours. The neighborhood where I lived was very steep & houses next to us & across the street had damage from mudslides, another house down the street had the entire house pushed out into the street from a slide. We were lucky, just the very bottom of our hill slid into the neighbors' backyard & into their basement. Our next door neighbors had the top foot or 2 of soil just slide into their lower neighbor's swimming pool, but the joke was that the pool had not been built on the pool owner's property but on our neighbors, illegally, so they had no liability. Streets & intersections were flooded with up to 3 feet of water in our neighborhood. It was many years before I could hear rain without feeling a lot of anxiety! Stay safe.

  • I live in Oregon so we tend to have similar weather. There's a thing in housing listings here where people advertise "Wetland views" which basically means "this is built on a floodplain". When I was in high school my dad had to put a drain in the back part of our yard because it would just turn into a pond when we had heavy rain. The dogs never seemed to mind though! Although they were less thrilled when we made them dry off after. Glad you all are doing well and staying safe!

  • I'm in BC, Canada, and a few years ago we had an entire year's worth of rain in one day. It was out the major highway (our section of the Trans Canada which runs from one end of the country to another) and there were a few different cities literally surrounded by water. It was wild and hugely destructive to hundreds of farms. Literally entirely underwater, there were rescues missions to get out cows, pigs, chickens, but our region lost a lot of livestock and berry crops.

  • That is really a lot of water to deal with and I hope you didn’t have too much damage. I can imagine how that much water racing through the low points could cause erosion. We’ve had a lot of rain in New Jersey all summer and now into the fall. Rain from indirect hurricanes and slow storm systems. It’s been almost every weekend lately. Here, it’s nothing like what you’re having but in nearby areas such as New York City they’ve had flooding. I think global climate change is causing so much of the world’s weather problems, and I’m so sad to see the rain events such as yours. Let us know how things turn out and I’m hoping all the animals are ok

  • Thank you for all your great videos, I love the runding of the dogs, the way they read the tarrain and how Storm don’t like it when it gets too deep. I guess Storm doesn’t like skimming. Storm is so like one of mine that they could have been sisters.

  • We emigrated to New Zealand years ago and the day we arrived at our destination (West Coast, South Island) it started raining and didn't stop for 13 weeks, apart from one afternoon. I'd never experienced anything like that. We do get lots of rain and flooding here in the North Island where I live now as well.

    • Just wondering if you moved from South to North because of the weather?

    • No, because of a better job and school opportunities for the children.

  • Down here in England flooded streams leave the trees full of rubbish when the water goes down. It looks so clean where you are.

  • Thank goodness for Wellies Looks like you got the remnants of a hurricane/tropical storm. We get that a lot here in Maryland when the storms ride the coast.

  • I am from Houston, Texas where it rains a great deal; i remember it raining 12 inches in a single day. in some parts of town it drained well thanks to proper planning, in some hastily built parts of town the flooding is terrible

  • Flooding is tough. Herding and ranching in those conditions are difficult when trying to protect your animals. Here in central Texas we have been in and out of drought. But the town I live in has had many devastating floods when the rains do come. Please stay safe.

  • Good Gracious!! It’s going to take a few days to dry out! I pray you receive lots of sunshine and light breezes after the rains move on. Loved seeing Storm run through the field waters, and sweet Kate at the end. ❤

  • wow - it rairs 230 days a year in Scotland you say, that's a LOT! My husband's from Southern England, but even for him, he was so desparate to move out of the constant drizzle that he insisted we relocate to Portugal right after getting married. Nevertheless, I love watching your channel, and admiring the wild (and water-blessed) beauty of Scotland in this way. All the best wishes, and hope some of that water goes away (wherever excess water goes) soon.

  • Just thinking: those beautiful huge oaks still being in green leaf will be soaking up a lot of water. Hope there’s not a similar weather event during deep winter, when you could be looking at several feet of snow. I remember in the early 1960s watching news reports of farmers digging sheep out of massive snowdrifts when they’d tried to shelter along the base of the stone walls.

  • We live in Wisconsin USA and on the top of a ridge. No chance of flooding here but below it floods regularly with heavy rains. A few years back sheep were floating down the Kickapoo river. I don’t know why people don’t get their animals to safer high ground knowing the storm is coming. Looks like all animals are safe there. I would love to see a Pyranees dog, or two there when the sheep are in the fields.
