  • Two of the simple wedge design have always worked for me. Hickory and white oak are hard to split and better to use hydraulics. You can swing a sledge!

    • Untrue, green wood is easier to split. Dry rounds often cause wedges to get lost half way thru a split.

  • Sir, The first wedge should have been sited closer to the outer edge of the log. You may have seen better results.

  • I use two wedges, but also use a large crowbar which helps once I get the crack started. Either way it’s a lot of hard work.🙂
