The fact some of the Elk were waiting on the last Elk speaks volumes to their herd pack. Just a beautiful encounter to see. Thanks for sharing.
Me: ‘awww they waited for ‘em’; tear. Such a sweet video.
Cracks me up that there’s one silly elk trailing and getting worked up at getting left behind for a moment, because that’s exactly how sheep behave. I’m a sheep shearer, and in my experience there’s always one in the flock being ridiculous
I’m going through a difficult season in my life and seeing that last elm make it really lifted me up. Thank you.
I hope you’re doing better, bud!
Hope the 'straggler' gave you inspiration. Good luck, my friend.
I bet I wasn't the only one who cheered when she finally cleared the fence!
How do you know that it was a she?
@@jamesmhango2619 No antlers. But then, it may have been just after the shed, so it could have a he as well.
OMG that was the best moment. Poor thing. Finally figured out to back up and go in fast and when she cleared it I’m like ‘you got it! way to go!!’. Fkn fences.
Just beautiful. We lived 16 years in Montana and somehow it stays in your heart, no matter where you go. Thanks.
Life lesson from nature. There are times in life when you just have to back up and take a run at it!
I knew he or she could do it.
@@JoeKoOhNo Need to take some lessons from the felines.
Just like what the driver of that car behind them shouldve done.
But she jumped beautifully...
Proud member of the No Elk Left Behind program.
Okay..... That was just too funny!
We live down the road from here and see this herd on both sides, but never saw it move from one to another! Thank you for being in the right place and time to capture and share the magnificence. (Including, of course, that lone traveler.) As a Montana native, I absolutely love it's big sky beauty.
I lived in Bozeman about 15yrs ago and know this herd too, I was late to work one morning because they were crossing the road ahead of me. Montana definitely stays in your heart!
Aww. It was awesome that the herd waited for all the herd before moving on.
So beautiful. I loved how he finally jumped the fence. I was rooting for him.
Merry Murphy hk
I was thinking 'he might be injured' then when it jumped the fence I thought 'What a Dumbass!'
The guy in the car should have just shot it.
@@mikebeesley3150 - Stupid boy, i hate you!
@@mikebeesley3150 In Montana, it's illegal to shoot game animals from your vehicle (assuming he even had his Elk tag for the hunting season, which would be another crime if he didn't, poaching)
What a beautiful sight, watching all those Elk running free, glad that last one made it!
Looks like the American Southern Border....
That was so nice to see , makes me respect the wild life nature and to see them still around.
Makes me hate fences.
This happened to me several years ago on the Mogollon Rim in Northern AZ. One of the greatest things I've seen in my 56 years on this planet!
I was thrilled when the little guy finally figured it out!
Thank you for filming this with steady hands!
great point! LOL
That's awesome how the herd waited and made sure everyone got across.
I liked that too.
Rx humans dont wait for others
Ringo Garvin so you have experience in this area..
Problem is anyone who knows elk knows they were not waiting for the calf that's just the tail end of the herd slowly moving on like they always do and they would have kept right on going even if it hadn't caught up.
dean nelson Like I said earlier, wolves have to make a living too. And from the elk point of view, I don't have to run faster than the wolves, I only have to run faster than you.
Theres always one with "wait for me guys" in the pack.

I was sad for that last little elk. So glad to see that he made it and that his friends/family were waiting for him.
"friends and family", my God how ignorant are you.

I experienced a crossing like this one in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Being from Florida, it was a awesome experience. In Florida we usually see thing like alligators, opposum and racoons, so see a elk migration was pretty exciting.
In Florida also. The only gathering we get are the black vultures.
the 3 bestfriend elk was like " why u taking so long dude "

who also said "yay" when the elk finally jumped over the fence? lol
They are going to the elk-a-hole
I did! My husband did!

That one must've missed the jumpin class at school that day

Wow! Several Elks were just waiting for her/him! Just beautiful!
2:51 lol can you imagine what they're saying "FUCKING FINALLY you silly goose :P "
Marlin Covert I know right? Those damn elks.. Must wash their mouths with soap :P
It was glorious when he finally made it.
We were in Yellowstone some years ago and came across a huge herd like this one. I was hoping that the last guy was going to figure it out that he needed to get a run at it to clear that fence.
Yayyy. I love how the herd waited for the last one before they took off...awesome!
Amazing footage. And, they didn't leave their friend behind....so touching :). I also heard about the Bison migrating as well.
the other elks are like "come on jerry you can do it" when he gets trought they're like "i knew you could do it jerry"
this reminded of me when I was a kid...my family and I went on a bike ride and my father went in front of me with everyone else... and as he was getting further he forgot that I existed and I was screaming real hard for him to wait and I screamed to the top of my lungs and he just forgot that he had 1 more extra kid... so finally after going for so many miles he turned around and I wasn't there... so he sent my brother to come back and get me... I was so relieved yet so tramatized at the same time cause they just left... so it was refreshing to see how some elk waited for the last one...lol... that made me happy :)
I hope you're okay now though even though your father's lack of consideration has burned a traumatic experience in your memory. I could never understand how parents could even walk in the malls, or anywhere out in public, and nowadays while texting, while their precious children are yards behind them. Parents, it only takes a split second for some maniac to snatch up your kid, never to be found again.
justme HK I wish you could have told my parents this when I was growing up...but they were so busy fighting with one another that they wouldn't have even listened to you... I was around so many child molesters and pedophiles that I'm surprised nothing happened to me. I'm still in my 20's and I'm alive and well and that's all that matters... this is why I was so happy for that last elk to finally make it because it reminds me so much of myself. I'm happy that the elk wasn't left behind and there were actually a few waiting for him, whereas there was no one waiting for me... but I'm still here and alive and well, so that's something to celebrate :)
silvercord2018 Elks dint forgot the other was trying to cross
I know it's been 4 years since you posted the comment but how's it going man?
The guy that filmed this said he was heading out of his vehicle to help (and you can see the vehicle across the way, that person is also getting out to help). However, this little elk finally figures it out. Give nature a chance first. If they can't do it in the end, then that's when we step in. I love how the other Elk wait for him and once he catches up to them, they continue on their journey. :-)
You're wrong, this is an obstacle made by men, so in this case we must always help
H0PL0N There are lots of things we unfortunately built in the wild. But we still need to give them a chance to figure it out and then we help. Bottom line, we should always help when necessary.
Yes ok agree, it was just a statement my friend :) In this case I would also have waited
H0PL0N :-)

hehe. i totally cheered 'yay' when he made it!!!! and i was like 'aaww where's the herd?' and there they were waiting for him!!!! total victory!!!! lol.

Thank you for been so kind to this poor soul .xxxxx
Yay! I found myself cheering
so did i.when he ran up and jumped over.
I love that he worked it out in fairly short order that if he backed up and took a running start, he might get enough height to clear the fence. Whether instinct-based or problem-solving - or some combination of the two - it is amazing to see a young animal figure something like this out, and while under stress no less! :)
Yes, some dumbbell couldn't wait and drove thru and spooked the calf. I guess that extra fear gave him the strength to try one more time! Success!
Now that's a herd - amazing - nice to see so much wildlife....
When I lived in eagle canyon ranch I had to take the frontage road past the old Oxbow ranch on my way to Helena, and there was a herd of elk there every AM around 6:00 that numbered around 300. I always caught them then and around 4:30 PM. It was amazing and the lead Cow and Bull would stand in the road until the entire herd went across and down to the missouri river to drink. Beautiful , incredible creatures!. Good vid.!
That was absolutely beautiful
I've been so blessed to have had so many people view and share my video, I want to thank you all because you guys have truly changed my life. If any of you find yourselves in the yellowstone area don't be afraid to contact me.
How many was it?
I believe someone counted and it was around 200 elk.
okay! Thanks
Great picture!
What a fantastic video! Thank you for sharing.
Wow! Never seen so many elk crossing the road on video 😱 Very stressful for that last elk, and the herd waiting patiently 🤗
No matter how many times I see herds of elk in Montana, I am still in awe.
@ 1:12 Well... it's pretty clear which one is getting singled out in a wolf hunt.
Almost heartbreaking towards the end. Thank goodness for the running start idea!
Gotta admire modern day survival of the fittest...
At least 4 of them were waiting for him in the end
Put some glasses on. They were all waiting.
Slenvr If you understand the basic concept of "herd mentality," you'll know that they were not "all" waiting for that one elk. Four were waiting, but some are waiting for the other four, which causes another chain reaction where another group is waiting for the other group. This in turn turns into the "bandwagon effect." Maybe you should do some reading and research before trolling on youtube and making yourself look like an idiot.
kashewz how exactly do you know that it were exactly 4 of them that were waiting on him and not a single one, causing the same effect on the other three? (by the way, why 4, I only see 3 that are a little separated from the rest) anyway, if the herd was waiting for the 3-4, which were waiting for the last one, then the horde was also (indirectly) waiting for the last one, so either way Slenvr is right with his second sentence..
***** Go wiki "herd mentality," idiot. You learn that shit in basic biology back in high school. Maybe go read a book and you'll look less like an ignorant lil fuck. =)
***** And let me help you out further. "Bandwagon effect" is from basic marketing and/or economics class during your first years of college. Of course, judging by your intellect, I doubt you even qualify to attend community college lol.
Thanks for filming, especially till the pretty girl finally made it over! Thanks for brightening our COVID days 💖
Thank God he finally made it! That was sad when his leg got stuck. So happy he finally got safely over & able to join the rest.

That is so true he finally got over the fence and caught up with the rest.

OMG! I was in Bozeman this April and saw an enormous herd. I took some video, but nothing this close. Well done!
I'm so glad the last of them made it over fence.
hahah! that last out of shape one. he or she was just like, "oh, god dammit... hey guys wait up! how did you do this?"
It would be good to create an elk crossing corridor on this road, since elk have to migrate. It would be easy enough to make a gap in the fence for the young and the mothers so no elk would be left behind. I have seen too many bruised and bleeding hocks of deer and elk who have to jump a fence like this twice a day. They also make collapsible fences for wildlife that spring up again afterward. Let's be conscious of the needs of forms of life that share this planet with us.
I literally cheered when that last one finally cleared the fence. What a beautiful scene, I could watch that all day.
Best silent natural video with a lesson involved.
this is better than counting sheep
The passing car scared the elk & gave it the adrenaline to jump.
from sad to happi ! :) they even waited him so cool !

Jackie, that is beautiful. We don't know much about elk in LOUISIANA. Congratulate Austin for capturing this for us. I was rooting for the last one,, glad he made it..
Good video, so glad he did not get too tangled up in that fence.
That last one - sadly, that's my animal spirit.
Perseverance!
The Elk at the end of that Huuuge herd is really smart! Reminds me of a scene in the movie The Great Escape, where Steve McQueen is escaping the Germans, while on a motorcycle. He's looking for a place that's lower in the barbed wire fence he plans to jump. He Almost makes his escape. The Elk running and jumping the fence reminded me of that great scene in a Classic movie.
I love how the whole group waited for the last one 😀
