40+ years later and this skit is still true about the airline industry.
With airplanes dealing with loose bolts, wheels coming off etc. of late -- ain't that the truth!
More like 65years
No, those seats are too wide and the leg room is too spacious.
Close, this skit still has way too much leg room.
Yup indeed 😂
Dang! I think the airlines watched this and thought it was the model for the future. 😂
Model for the future? You realize this skit was done because of things already happening, don't you? That means they modeled their business like that first, to get the show to make fun of them in the first place.
@@northernsnow6982 Yet the show was supposed to be taking things to an illogical extreme. Today, those big seats in the no-frills section are unheard of.
@@matthew8153 OK. The airlines still didn't model any of their business ideas, from this sketch. I mean, they all still have seat belts, the overhead compartment isn't actually used to store plane parts, they don't have turbulence just for the cheap section, and they didn't get shrinking the seats idea from this clip either, as you've pointed out. So no they didn't model their seat sizes, or any of their business model, according to this comedy show. Thank you for explaining to me, what the Carol Burnett Show was all about. I didn't understand the concept until just now, thanks to your utmost genius brain, and your willingness to share your knowledge from it. I thought she was hosting a news program, for these last 40+ years of knowing the show. Bahaha 🤣
The legend.
Nope. This was a better version. You can't eat your own food or, god forbid, bring your own beverages on a typical modern airplane.
The second you see Tim Conway and Harvey Kerman walk in you KNOW its going to be ‘comedy gold!!!!’
Yup definitely 😂
Carol Burnett is a national treasure.
I was just gonna say the same thing, 😆
They are all.. lol
Internationally it seems as I'm a Swede
@@martinhumble Welcome, our new NATO friend!
This never gets old...i grew up watching..such simple times, silly, clean...goofy fun.
Me too!!!
You're lucky. We never saw this in the UK. Thank heavens for KZhead.
Grew up on the later half of the show.... beautiful comedy!
Same here 😊👍
This sketch is 99% better than all the tv shows full episodes on tv today.
damn straight.
Watch Family Feud. Every comment has to be dirty and everyone laughs like maniacs.
@@daisymaefrench4041yup. All the shows back then were so perverted. Idk why they always want to make the older times seem so innocent when they were absolutely not.
Henry

Tim Conway was in a comedy class all his own. Absolutely untouchable.
She is the best- funny and fabulous- a true natural comic!!! 1:25
I love this skit. In a lot of ways the jokes still play well in today's low-cost airlines!
Just the low cost? This also goes for United!
This was the inspiration for all airlines today, only everyone gets the bargain seat treatment
It's more relevant now than ever!
Those were some great roomy seats for economy.
Nowadays that aitline is called Spirit!!
Carol Burnett was a true prophet in this skit. We literally have planes falling apart today that were made in the 60s. And the stewardesses really are this rude. Only when flying internationally do I get 4 hot meals the whole flight, free ear phones, blankets and socks, and they tell me what to do in 6 languages. Flying in America, God help you. And I am American, thats whats so crazy!!
Yes
These bad things are happening because of Republicans. Their philosophy is that human beings don't matter, only corporations matter and need to be taken care of,
Maybe fly a better class of airline than Spirit.
I had the privilege of meeting Tim when I was manager of a steakhouse in NYC. I told him i wanted to compliment him on something I was sure he never heard often. He tried to make a joke and his wife told him to shut up and listen to what I wanted to say. I told him that the skit when he fell down the stairs in slow motion was an incredible athletic accomplishment. His face and eye's lit up and he obviously didn't expect that. If you watch and think about it he was an amazing athlete and obviously a comedian beyond belief.
Shut up? That is not nice.
Great story, and good point that Tim Conway was athletic. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice observation sir
What a shame we don't have great entertainment like this any longer on tv.
We have FAKE NEWS & WOKE TV
There were some great shows back in the day.
You can get great entertainment like this with a ticket on American, Delta, United... =D
We do. The problem is that there is SO much content out there, it's hard to separate the good from the hype. Back then there were only three channels. There was a lot of crap back then but no one cares or shows that.
@@kma3647 😂😂😂😂
Masters of comedy - all of them! Simple & clean. They don't make them like that anymore.👍👍👍👍👍
I couldn't agree more 💯 👏 ❤😂
One of my favorite skits. Airline travel today is like this parody.
Nowadays, all of coach is the no frills section.
It’s worse, see how huge those seats are?
@@johnp139 Yeah there is more leg room those planes that real ones. The head rest on the lap is about right. I think this clip gave United Airlines some ideas!
Was just thinking that lol, what was comedy then is reality now
@@johnp139Ikr, as someone who just flew, I envy that
Looking back i now realize why this show was on tv for such a long time. Carol was so down to earth with her male counterparts. I’m sure we all miss them now.
Henry12346
Thankfully, Carol is still with us. RIP Harvey and Tim.
It's like every airline saw this and made it the standard
😂
Vicki Lawrence intro. How I miss the Carrol Burnett Show. One of the classic comedy shows on TV.
Pluto tv has classic episodes of the carol burnett show me tv Monday thru Friday night at 11pm😊❤awesome cast awesome show
Tim Conway was very underrated in his time. He was a comedic genius, especially when it came to physical comedy, and he was at his absolute peak when teamed with Harvey Korman. RIP Mr. Conway.
He was not underrated. He was a legend then, as he is now.
I also LOVED Conway with Don Knotts, in The Apple Dumpling Gang! That was actually my introduction to them both, as an early 70s kid! However, this show was already an institution, so I eventually figured out it was the same guy.
Especially his DORF character
Exactly 💯 I couldn't agree more
His comic genius was well established following his role as Ensign Parker on McHale's Navy.
I will never forget this skit! I came home from work and my Dad was laughing so hard I thrive never heard him laugh so hard this was what he was laughing about!!! I was laughing at him what a great memory to see this in remembrance of him 😂😂😂😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Funny, I was just thinking the same watching this. My parents and I use to watch the Carol Burnett show all the time back in the 70’s and my Dad use to go hysterical laughing at the comedy skits like this one. Good clean fun and wonderful memories.
What year was it?
What a nice comment. It was nice to read.

Loved, loved loved Carol. As a teenager in the 70's I never missed her show. As a matter of fact she was a role model for me. To this day at age 63 I am a goofball thanks to Carol.
same here at 63;-)
Same here 63 loved this show!
Her mom and her lived in an apartment in San Antonio Texas down the street from me before they moved to California.
Same at 67.
Classic. SNL writers need to watch these and learn.
You watch SNL? I quit watching after John Belushi passed. It was never the same.

I remember this episode from my childhood. I laughed til I cried. We used to gather around the TV to watch the show on Thursday nights, and eat supper on trays so as not to miss a word!
There was a time this came on Sunday nights, I think later in the '70's or early '80's. We ate supper the same way lol. I'll never forget the Went With the Wind skit! kzhead.info/sun/YJywhtp_iGKGZ5E/bejne.html

Good claen fun, something we have lost in this country.
We sure have. Now we have people calling for political violence against people they deem "enemies". A former president that insults people and tried to overthrow the government. One day we'll return to having a country where good clean fun like this is acceptable again
I watch the Show last Night, alone . Was laughing so much . Just hilarious. Why can’t we have that kind of Show back, it is so good to have a good laugh,❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Okay I'm convinced. I'll spend the $40 extra bucks! lol
I grew up during my childhood watching this show. I am sixty years old now and I continue to find it's unique skit comedy very funny indeed. I also can't believe that I am actually 60!
I'm 52 with the same memory. I remember watching this as a kid in black and white. Since I'm younger than you, the highlight of the show for me was the cartoon with the lady mopping a floor. I just loved seeing and hearing my parents laugh so hard. I also can't believe I'm 52!
You and me both and I'm 69. My dad is gone now but loved the Carol Burnett show . Rest in peace.
I'm 65, and cannot believe I have reached Medicare age so soon. My dad also loved Carol Burnett. Many good memories of those days.
The Carol Burnett show was the Best show ever
Yes it was! ❤️
I missed this one!
SHE IS A TEXAN SHE DISCOVERED STEVE MARTIN IN TEXAS.
Henry
There really weren't low cost airlines then, so this skit was before its time...and Harvey Korman had the very first flat bed seat lol
As a multi million mile flyer, I have not had a laugh this good in years!
Tim Conway was so adorable and funny…..Rest In Peace, Tim!
The knock on the no window killed me😂
I'm in my 20s but appreciate how humorous and simple these skits are. Man sometimes I believe I was truly born in the wrong decade. You all had a amazing upbringing .
No reason you can't jump right in there and enjoy it with us like you own it. 😁
In my 40's and feel the same way lol
I wish I was in the 50s. I am 48! I love the simplicity.
@@sureyyaekinci4630 I’m 60 I wish I was only 48
@dwillifredbolden1: I was born in 1968. Everything was better in the 70's even if the economy was not. We found humor in everything. Race, homophobia, misogynistic, bigotry....we laughed at each other and no one really took any of that stuff seriously nor personally (I recommend watching an early DVD of "Blazing Saddles"...if you can find one that cancel culture missed). There was no better time to be a kid than the mid to late 1970's. I'm sorry you missed out on that. However, history tends to repeat itself so don't give up yet!
This skit never gets old. It’s so funny. They don’t make good comedy like this anymore.
You got it 👍 💝 😂😂😂
I’ll never forget this episode ! I was 13 years old watching this episode on the only TV we had in the house with my mom.
This is what it's like flying today. Almost lost it when the seat starting bucking like the mechanical bull in Urban Cowboy.
I remember this when Carol Burnett aired it on television. It still holds up; it was funny then, it's still funny now!!!
Except that stewardesses are now called flight attendants and the space between seat rows, not much seems to have changed 🤣🤣🤣
Seat spaces have changed on international flights, some are beds and your own cabin space.
Sooooo?
Ironic, isn't it, that today's airlines are far worse that these people imagined
Yes, I can only imagine having such a large and comfortable seat.
This show brings joy to my heart I love Carrol Burnett.
One of the greatest skits of all time in my opinion. Tim Conway is just fabulous here. He’s never been funnier than in this skit. This man😂…… wow!!
I think funniest was when his character was an old man, white haired wig and hat, barely able to transverse while shuffling his feet.
The password skit!
The elephant story!
@@TheOtherBill yep, that's the one where they played password.
@@denisenj7648 They couldn't air the good elephant story with the original password skit, it was sold and later shown separately. Vicki dropped a curse and Tim Conway literally fell on the floor laughing.
This is the way humor should be!
And just like that, the concept to form Spirit Airlines was born.
My grandma and me loved to watch this. It brought joy to us both.
Aww they cut the good part out where carol burnett used the Fire extinguisher on Tim😂😂😂😂😂
I don't laugh easily but The Carol Burnett Show has never failed me yet Absolutely Hilarious
Harvey and Tim were an awesome combination
This was hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣...first the unexpected kick "get your foot off our rug" then the secret emergency procedure then the rope seat belt...the creativity of this was genius👌
I saw this when it came on originally, great TV era.
This was the funniest show on television way back then ....
Vicki's smile at the end of the intro lets you know you're in for a bumpy ride ...These folks were geniuses
I’m glad they posted this skit! I couldn’t find it on KZhead before and was really upset. But this is one of my favorite skits! Tim Conway was and always will be the best 😅
My back is killing me from laughing so hard! So worth it!🤣🤣🤣
Even no frills back then was so spacious and comfy. But for sure I can see it. I love Carol
Oh my !! I have not laughed like this in such a long time. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 wow!!! Thank you!!!
All the self entitled complainers you see being rude to flight crew needs Tim Conway's seat 😂
"The back of the plane gets there the same time as the front." ... Truer words haver never been spoken so eloquently and delivered with such brilliant genius.
And thus, Spirit Airlines was born!
I remember every time we watched this show if it wasn't what was being said or done, it was whenever Harvey Corman was trying to keep from laughing, Tim Conway was such a rare breed of comedian, his unnatural timing of how he would say things, his innate ability to go off the cuff, I couldn't believe so many times him making everybody on the cast explode in the loudest guffaws. Thank you Carole for the joy you brought to our home.
Tim Conway is on record saying that his goal in every skit he did with Harvey was to get him to break up.
OMG! I was in tears when that seat started shaking! Tim Conway was hilarious
I miss clean and no holds bar comedy.
Same here. Don’t know why some people think fowl language is funny
@@rachaelgreen7143 Which fowl language? Like "gobble gobble," cock-a-doodle-doo," or "quack quack?"🐓🦃 🦆
Barred not bar lol Foul not fowl lol
I don’t think “clean” and “no holds barred” are compatible. By definition.
Are you familiar with "Dry Bar Comedy"?
This is how I felt the first time I flew Southwest. I was befuddled by the lack of assigned seating. It just did not compute as I had flown internationally for many years and enjoyed great service
You mean the airline that nickel and dimes you the least?
I love southwest ....haven't had any problems....
You should try Spirit. I'm surprised they don't have pay toilets.
Nowadays, all of coach is the no frills section.
I laughed out loud...and both my cats looked at each other...then at me....like WTH happened
These skits never get old !!
Amazingly, I've never seen this skit...hilarious!
Great! So funny. Loved the turbulence part. Nowadays it’s pretty much like this! Pretty soon they will be charging extra for the air to breathe in.
Perfection! Spirit and Southwest Airlines predecessor!
I cried when CB ended its 11 years run. My favorite show of all time! Always laughed til my stomach hurt 😅🤣😂.
Hahahahaha!! It’s payback time for Tim!! Especially after the dental and the Siamese elephant skits!!
Carol, Kornan and Conway... Those three were gold every time they worked in the same sketch.
This has aged exceptionally well! 😂😂

The physical comedy of Tim Conway 😂😂. Loved the Carol Burnett show ❤❤

Predicted flying in the 21st century perfectly 🙂
Always good laughs with Carol Burnett show so funny !

Legend has it Spirit is still flying that same plane
Pure comedy. No politics.
"ever hear of a plane backing into a mountain" 🤣🤣
Really great, clean, comedy that to me is still funny and brings a smile to my face and brings back memories of times long gone. Compared to todays frazzled mess in society its refreshing to know I lived through and experienced these times...the "good o'l days" as my grandmah used to say..
I love this kind of comedy 😊
I remember watching this when it aired. I was in tears. Good stuff.
I wish they bring back The Carol Burnett show iand Mamma's family
Reminds me of today's Frontier and Spirit Airlines
Categorically more creative, original, and loads funnier than EVERYTHING in the last 30 years.
I miss this kind of comedy.
I remember seeing this on network tv when I was but a little lass.
Utterly hilarious!😂
The genius lies in making fun of Spirit Airlines before they even existed!!!😂😂😂 I miss the fine art comedy...please bring it back
Omg, I thought I'd seen all the Tim Conway sketches, but not this one! It slayed me!
I was on a Continental flight a few years back. There was a passive aggressive flight attendant who hilariously treated us passengers like annoying shits. When I mentioned my pre-ordered vegetarian meal had meat on the plate she just grabbed the flat slab of meat and shoved it in her pocket. Her finale was slinging warm wet towels over peoples' heads with such accuracy they landed on faces. Bald heads were a definite target. I actually heard her tell a man off for being tall - his legs were stuck out in the aisle. She told him to fly with a better airline and not be a cheapskate, that way he would get more leg room.
Basil Fawlty Syndrome!
I think I know that person! 😂😂😂😂😂
Spirit Airlines hasn’t really changed that much
So Carol Burnett predicted Spirit Air. Impressive forecasting that.
I remember seeing this episode when it originally aired. Those warm peaceful Saturday nights watching Carol Burnett with the family!
Poor Tim! 😂🤣😂
Turbulence for thee, but not for me that’s brilliant
There’s no frills it’s a perfect for the people that cause problems today on airlines. Stick them back there and tell them to shut up. 😅
Most people causing problems are usually provoked by an asshole with a little authority that's gone to his head
The turbulence 😂😂😂
The space between those seats is massive.
Tim Conway is having the worst treatment aboard an airplane.
Not if you’ve flown RyanAir 😂
