Lmao wth
💀💀 as soon as I read “Mordecai”, I immediately pictured him narrating
That was a really good episode
IM SO ANGRY because there are mushrooms that imitate anything yet none of these are farmed
Some are difficult to farm because they have a symbiotic relationship with the trees and even other microorganisms that live in that soil. So to farm them you would need to also farm the trees with a sample of the soil where the mushroom grows around their roots, and hope for the best. Pd: Remember, the main body of the fungus is not the mushroom, is their hyphae. The mushroom is more like his fruit or his reproductive apparatus
@@la912 so… a di-
@@TheUKisTherewhy do you think they're shaped so similarly?
instead of being angry and complaining poser, why don't you farm them yourself? be the change you want to see.

Im grateful that Mordecai is educating me about foraging mushrooms
He says the blue mushrooms are sweet and beautiful to look at because they're the same color as him.
He knows about the shrooms
Maybe a KZhead short isn’t the way to pick wild mushrooms to eat
This joke was funny the first few times
“Mordecai and rigby, stop picking wild mushrooms or your fired!”
What I’ve taken away from this is that, the mushroom kingdom has a wide range of uses.
I think they're like the failsafe for plants. I believe Chernobyl is beginning to grow some fungi.

There's a type of bolete called the cornflower bolete which is even weirder: it _looks_ normal at first, but _turns_ blue when cut or damaged.

My thoughts exactly. Only few natural sources have blue

Cool mushrooms! Wish I had them in my area

That was the first thing that came to mind.. not a very smart video to post without a warning.. it’s really hard to confuse it with other fungi, especially if you’re not too familiar with them.

You should put a warning cause one has to be very certain of mushroom before its use and that only comes from being taught by an expert .

Oh wow, thank you! You just helped me identify one of the mushrooms growing on a stump in my mom's backyard. It's artist conk, and there are four other kinds growing on and around the stump. I'm pretty sure one of the others are dead man's fingers. Two down, three to go!
It does mushrooms and plants both. And insects I think but I've never tried that.
Woah that’s awesome! Happy foraging ❤

Thank you thank you thank you. I love all your information and your completeness, not to mention your good rugged looks!
I cant be the only one saving these for camping or hiking or getting lost in the woods etc 😂
in cantonese we call the cauliflower mushroom 雪耳, which means snow ear. whereas jelly ear fungus is called 木耳 or 雲耳 which means wood ear or cloud ear :-)
I love wood ear, only found it once in the wild.
Remember dear viewers, if you are going to forage you cannot take all of them. You can only take as much as the forest will let you, if you take too much they won't regrow for next year's/the year afters harvest.
When does the forest kindly ask me to stop?
A good way to go about that is only take about 1/3 of what is there since you have to assume somebody else or another animal is going to take some
cauliflower mushroom is actually a parasitic mushroom as far as I know and slowly kills the host tree. It's actually good for tree health if you limit their spread. Also as long as you harvest a mushroom after it had a chance to release it's spores it does not matter. At that point it probably has less impact than picking wild fruits and berries
mushroom foragers in eastern european countries would carry their foraging haul in wicker baskets as they gathered that way the spores could fall out and reseed the forest for the next harvest
@@LANSl0t where'd you get that from?

Instructions unclear, now I have a swarm of fairies crawling up my arms trying to get into my mouth. GET. THEM. OFF. Just kidding. I was always told the ones that turn blue or purple when you break them were the “special” ones. Is that true? That cauliflower type looks cool, I’d be willing to try it if I found some. Much love from Texas.
If you're talking about "special" as in "magic" or "psychedelic" then you heard wrong.

Hey! I knew about two of these before watching this video. Didn't know about the indigo one, but it looks so cool! Thanks for sharing!
I would appreciate it if you did not rip fungi off of trees just to draw on and throw away after. Fun fact, those fungi can live 30 years so they should be respected.

Is there any bioluminescent mushroom? 🤔
Quite a few, I don't think most of them can be eaten through

Whoa! I used to work for a world-famous mycology expert, and I've never even heard of some of these...let alone seen them! That indigo milkcap is unfreakingreal- I'd always heard to watch out for blue mushrooms, because those often can mean they contain psilocybin. Before this, I'd only ever seen one edible blue 'shroom! Wow!!! Soooo coooool!! I love mushrooms, but, I don't know too much about foraging for them. I really want to learn more!😊😊😊❤❤❤
in Russia we usually went to forest to search edible mushrooms xd
Absolutely loved picking up artisr conk shrooms and finding a thin stick to doodle on them. Though my parents were always telling me to be careful since mushrooms can be dangerous if you don't know what they are.. maybe that's why now I'm terrified of mushrooms 😂😭
I love mushrooms, especially the trippy ones. Nothing like being on mushrooms while hunting for mushrooms.
When he said that it's also used for indigo dye... "That's the most Minecraft thing I've heard today"
When I first saw indigo milk caps in the wild, I thought I was looking at a piece of ceramic tile that someone had thrown into the woods. It was too beautiful to pick.
I swear, mushrooms are the most alien thing besides aliens.
That cauliflower mushroom sounds amazing, texture of both pasta and noodles at the same time

Very cool info MORDECAI ✨
You’re so cool I love your vids! Definitely going to use these mushies for art references
Please DO NOT pull them but cut the mushrooms, they will then grow back next year. If you pull them, they won't! Cauliflower mushroom (Krause Gluck in Austria) is rare!
It's also a parasitic mushroom that kills the host tree. If they're rare in your area that's a good thing for the forest because when they show up en masse something ain't right with your forest. Or they're rare because your local forest doesn't have it's primary target trees. My dad always cuts them but as far as I knew it's because that makes it easier to pick it up without it crumbling in your hands.
Disclaimer: parasites are important parts of the ecosystem too and fill important roles. Large cauliflower mushroom growth booms are an indicator that your forest is not healthy. They also primarily target hardwood and conifers. So if your forest doesn't have many of those Glucke will be rare
⚠️Don't just eat any plant/mushroom unless you know what your eating!
I think you should mention to people that the blue mushroom does not make you hallucinate… and in Alaska, we call those artist conks bear bread. Native folks use them to paint beautiful scenes on usually of the northern lights or a sled dog team in front of the mountains. we find them everywhere and people use them to make tea and some of the native tribes grind them up to make some kind of like dip for their mouth like skoal or Copenhagen
Thanks for sharing 👍

Cauliflower mushrooms are really good. Had a soup one time and they were just like egg noodles.
In China we eat cauliflower fungi as a sweet soup combined with water and sugar chunks, and sometimes with dried fruit to make a delicious hot soup that is also sweet as well

I absolutely love the cauliflower mushrooms, I remember the first time my father bring it from his foraging trip, I ate some of it raw because it was so good. I had it maybe 2 or 3 times but I wish I had it some more. In the forests where we live they are very rare to find, and usually not in very big clumps, but I still absolutely love these mushrooms, I'd say my 3rd favourite after enoki and king oyster mushrooms.
Smurf cat is goin to be angry with this one
The first one looks like snow fungus. We got my grandma's stash of chinese food ingredients and these were pretty good in soup.

I actually have a petrified Artists Conk! It was stuck to the side of a tree, but after a while of kicking and hitting it, it actually snapped off whole. It's as hard as a rock, so I can't really draw on it anymore, but it's still pretty cool.
Man Dog flowers are already crazy, now this one's a mushroom too!?
i was expecting the blue shroom to be poisonous since bright colors are usually a no-no. i didnt expect it to be described as smelling like froot loops
