  • IM SO ANGRY because there are mushrooms that imitate anything yet none of these are farmed

    @jacekmaraj1774@jacekmaraj17749 ай бұрын
    • Some are difficult to farm because they have a symbiotic relationship with the trees and even other microorganisms that live in that soil. So to farm them you would need to also farm the trees with a sample of the soil where the mushroom grows around their roots, and hope for the best. Pd: Remember, the main body of the fungus is not the mushroom, is their hyphae. The mushroom is more like his fruit or his reproductive apparatus

    • cauliflower mushroom is actually a parasitic mushroom as far as I know and slowly kills the host tree. It's actually good for tree health if you limit their spread. Also as long as you harvest a mushroom after it had a chance to release it's spores it does not matter. At that point it probably has less impact than picking wild fruits and berries

  • Absolutely loved picking up artisr conk shrooms and finding a thin stick to doodle on them. Though my parents were always telling me to be careful since mushrooms can be dangerous if you don't know what they are.. maybe that's why now I'm terrified of mushrooms 😂😭

  • Please DO NOT pull them but cut the mushrooms, they will then grow back next year. If you pull them, they won't! Cauliflower mushroom (Krause Gluck in Austria) is rare!

    • It's also a parasitic mushroom that kills the host tree. If they're rare in your area that's a good thing for the forest because when they show up en masse something ain't right with your forest. Or they're rare because your local forest doesn't have it's primary target trees. My dad always cuts them but as far as I knew it's because that makes it easier to pick it up without it crumbling in your hands.

    • Disclaimer: parasites are important parts of the ecosystem too and fill important roles. Large cauliflower mushroom growth booms are an indicator that your forest is not healthy. They also primarily target hardwood and conifers. So if your forest doesn't have many of those Glucke will be rare

  • I think you should mention to people that the blue mushroom does not make you hallucinate… and in Alaska, we call those artist conks bear bread. Native folks use them to paint beautiful scenes on usually of the northern lights or a sled dog team in front of the mountains. we find them everywhere and people use them to make tea and some of the native tribes grind them up to make some kind of like dip for their mouth like skoal or Copenhagen

  • I absolutely love the cauliflower mushrooms, I remember the first time my father bring it from his foraging trip, I ate some of it raw because it was so good. I had it maybe 2 or 3 times but I wish I had it some more. In the forests where we live they are very rare to find, and usually not in very big clumps, but I still absolutely love these mushrooms, I'd say my 3rd favourite after enoki and king oyster mushrooms.
