  • There's a difference between superstars and winners. When the Bulls lost to the Magic in '95, MJ said to Tim Grover "I'll see you tomorrow". When people said Kobe won't win without Shaq, he went out and got 2. When Tim Duncan felt the pain of losing to Miami's Big 3, he went back together with the Spurs next year with a vengeance. Winners listen to criticism, and they work. Superstars listen to it, and they whine. Kyrie is a big star, no doubt about it. But he ain't a winner.

Without the people who create hype and create storylines and create drama, Kyrie is just a man who puts a ball into a hoop well. He built this team and has left them high and dry for much of the past 3 years, but it's the media's fault for shaping the public perception. That's what he does though, any issue he can latch on to he does to garner support that's what he does, Oh it's the vaccine, oh it's the capitol attacks, Kyrie sits at home watching the news scroll to find a reason not to play, so that he doesn't have to face the fact that he's not as good as he thinks he is.

    @mj_traveler4694@mj_traveler46942 жыл бұрын
    • I frankly don't see how both of those things can't be true 🤯. In other words, Harden has already shown us all he can't win with a wide range of talents at his disposal. He also has antecedents on chemistry matters... Kyrie is a show-stopper and extremely gifted, he has won in the past under incredible odds and put up good numbers throughout the season. This Nets team was built around the big three (now big 2) that matters quite a lot! They gave away Harden and literally got a dud and a knockoff Curry out of it. Now, imagine you throw that team against a defensive dynamo like Boston... end of story. I want to see how it will end! I want to see Harden prove the league wrong but it takes more than just a second round run, he must go ahead and help Embid win a chip (at some point).

      @rubenjr3085@rubenjr30852 жыл бұрын
    • @@rubenjr3085 I really don’t understand the wide range of talents around Harden argument? You’re telling me he had the talent around him anywhere close to the last probably 10 champions (with the exceptions of the Bucks). Hardens numbers two’s have been guys like Westbrook. Hardens best number two (outside KD when they were young and this year when they were a mess) was Chris Paul. Good chance they would have won it all if Paul didn’t get hurt. IMHO Harden has done more with less than any other superstar of today outside Giannis. Harden kept everyone of his teams in the hunt…which you can’t even say about Lebron.

Kyrie. Total opposite of what I just described. He feels like he's some kind of insightful guy with a great deal of knowledge, but he comes off as the Kanye of the NBA. • Was about to say. KD wanted this. He wanted to forge his own path with his own superteam but was dumb and got people who are essentially divas not dissimilar to him. He got his buddies and then what happened? One left. One might as well have left and he’s all high and dry stuck up shits creek without a paddle. He hasn’t got the mental toughness to be the main man in a championship team. Don’t act like he was at golden state. That was curry’s team. They already had a ring and just came off of a 73-9 season and only lost because lebron james literally lead every single statistic in that playoff series which is absolutely amazing. Then he joined and the team was completely unstoppable from a shooting perspective. But he joined a team that was already going to go down as (so far) the best regular season team in history. He was not the main guy. Steph’s selfless mature allowed him to shine more and that’s why they worked so well for those two rings. Kd is a terrific player. Skill wise he’s top 15 ever undoubtedly. But he isn’t a winner and is definitely not mentally strong enough to handle being the actual main man on a championship team. He isn’t even mentally strong enough to handle criticism from charles barkley. Let him eat the fruits of his own decisions. Left a team where another ring was on the cards for two divas one of which left him

  • SAS is 100% correct. Makes me appreciate steph curry more who we take for granted. Part of being great is being available, even if curry doesn't play because of injury he's sitting down supporting his teammates. Kyrie is trying to not work, make his own rules, do what he wants and what he feels like and demands ( not wants) money. His ego and tooting his own horn has gone through the roof.

    • Nothing is wrong with kyrie Irving. People value different things in life and see things from a different perspective. You can’t force someone to do something they don’t want to just because you wanna see him play. Basketball is not life it’s a game he has a belief and a religion. And no amount of money or criticism can change that. Some people don’t value money like others because it means nothing foreal It’s a bit selfish how they painted his name in the media just because of him not wanting to do something with HIS body because YOU want to watch him play. He didn’t make the rules

THAT is how desperate Kyrie fans are in trying to validate Kyrie's decisions and rebelling against the media. Kyrie is what he is in regards to availability and Kyrie fans can't defend it no matter how hard they try. The only thing I agree with Kyrie fans on is Stephen A trying so hard to get KD to confront Kyrie. If KD had a problem he would've handled it. The ONLY one who openly stated he had a problem is no longer on the team and is still in the playoffs.

  • My biggest takeaway from Kyries and Stephen As feud is the shift of the perception towards the workforce within generations. Stephen A believes- if you are getting paid good money to do your job you better show up because you have teammates, fans, and a whole organization relying on you. You signed up for this so unless you’re injured you better show up. Kyrie believes- that is slave mentality; just because I’m getting paid to do my job doesn’t mean I have to forget about what I believe in and not put me and my families well being first. He believes Stephen A is a puppet because Stephen A will do whatever for ESPN. Kyrie believes Stephen A is puppet because Stephen A voice holds weight because ESPN says so. Stephen A will continue to be the personality he is because it generates revenue for ESPN, but as soon as he says something that jeopardizes ESPNs business (even if its something he believes or something for HIS well being) he would get cut off just like anyone else. Kyrie could do a better job maybe being clear and not so cryptic in what he says and posts so maybe his fans can get behind him but that’s not my place on what he should do Stephen As philosophy is do whatever it takes to protect your job/money because that is what got you to this point of success(This is the 2000 gen mentality) Kyrie’s philosophy is do whatever you feel is going protect your well being even if it may jeopardize your pay in the future or how your boss views you. (New generation “job is slavery mentality) I understand both point of views but the main thing from all this is that we are witnessing the mentalities of two different generations bumping heads. Underneath all of this we can relate thats why its hard to disagree with everything both sides are saying.
