Grimwade House is located along the northern edge of Lake Ashenmoor. While much of the manor has fallen into disrepair, the living quarters remain active as lodging during winter. Guests have reported seeing light emanating from vacant rooms and hearing strange whispers throughout the night.

You actually _can_ hear whispers if you listen carefully enough, along with the occasional creaks. It's hauntingly eerie, but the fire helps keep the ghosts away.

Welcome wearied travelers. Go on, make yourselves comfortable, it’s going to be a long night and it seems the storm has grown too dangerous to brave. Oh, before I leave you, do stay here in this room. What ever you hear, or what ever you may see... do not go into any other part of this old place of dreadful memories. They may not be as welcoming as I am...
But, if you do not mind me asking, what happened? When?
Well, it is a gruesome tale, may you believe an old man like me.. but no more than 20 years ago two travelers came by this place. They went out too far too late and they needed a place to stay. I obliged, as anyone would to a nice couple. That night a heavy storm rolled in, making the road too dangerous to travel, so naturally I offered them a place to sleep. That night I heard a bloodcurdling scream, I hoped with all my heart it was just a nightmare, so I went back to sleep. The next morning, when the storm had gone quiet, I gathered up the courage to check on my guests... Man was away, woman laid badly cut and bruised on the bed. Checked her pulse right away but it was too late.. I, and many guests with me, have heard the screams and moans every single day... But the tea is ready, have a pleasant stay, and remember what I warned you about...
But as I listened, I heard as if from down below in the valley the howling of many wolves. The Count's eyes gleamed, and he said. "Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!" Seeing, I suppose, some expression in my face strange to him, he added, "Ah, sir, you dwellers in the city cannot enter into the feelings of the hunter." Then he rose and said. "But you must be tired. Your bedroom is all ready, and tomorrow you shall sleep as late as you will. I have to be away till the afternoon, so sleep well and dream well!" With a courteous bow, he opened for me himself the door to the octagonal room, and I entered my bedroom. I am all in a sea of wonders. I doubt. I fear. Swinging open the entrance they saw a dilapidated living room with dusted furniture and many cobwebs from the years of abandonment, yet it was peculiar they ventured down a long corridor to emerge in a chamber that would've been the first room seen by anyone who strolled into any house. What nonsense of a home was this ancient place they had been led to? Stepping slowly into the room the roguish male glanced around and let down his guard. "I guess that old man isn't one for housekeeping." The rogue remarked.

That's how I imagine it whenever I read "A Christmas Carol".
You could also listen to this on Christmas Eve, because it gives off major Ebenezer Scrooge at home vibes!

My 100 years old home sounds almost exactly like this in Winter! With wood cracks from the stairs that goes to the attic and to the basement...
I like how this feels realistic, no extra creepy music in the background just a silent room with only wind and fire. Like the occasional voices you can hear too, they aren’t right in your ear or too frequent- actually I probably missed them several times because they are so faint and far apart. I like videos that aren’t made to be some streamers cheap or royalty free Halloween theme background music. It’s easy to get lost in and feel like I’m actually there and not in some cheesy horror film like most of these ambiences turn out to be. (Can you tell I’m picky about what I put on my ambience playlists?- me? Haven’t noticed😂) you’ve done an outstanding job with this one. Very relaxing. 👍🏻

I’ve moved into this new house a few days ago. The place seems off, but nonetheless it is my new home. I grab a book and some warm coffee, and light the fireplace. I sit at the chair and read a book, staying unusually calm, despite all the howling wind and hard pouring rain.
… also, you need a Irish Setter laying by your chair.

The effect of the darkness being so heavy is what I like the most. It makes you feel thankful for the fire, whishing it would never turn off.
I am currently living in a tropical country...ironically, I miss the cold, blankets, fireplaces! Guess you cannot escape your origins.

Really nice picture. Reminds me of an old Hall that was a youth hostel near Edale that I stayed in in the 70's. Creepy as anything and I didn't sleep all night!
Youth hostel near Edale? I thought the closest one to Edale was in Casleton. Although that is nowadays. Do you remember where it was?
@@Erakius323 I misled you slightly. It wasn't part of the YHA. It was run by a charity from the church and accommodated youth groups and retreats and the like.
I think I'd feel a very alert relaxness in this place.

Bro i put rain sound at night and sleep then one it ended the next one was this anyways i was sleeping and i started seeing that im haunted and i wanna get cursed i saw 2 different short stories. Thats really weird without knowing the title or anything and i was sleep this video is really haunted.

Ahhh.. I am so happy to bask in these sounds as I fall asleep. It reminds me of childhood memories. We had a neighbor who was an artist and she had a house to her image. Very basic structure, but she made arts within and on the walls. It was an old house and there was a firepit like in this video. Thr ambience was exactly like this on cold Winter nights. 🩵 This is soothing. Desiree, we all miss you very much and you are always in our thoughts.
This is definitely a keeper. The sounds of the fire burning and the wind blowing are not overpowering like in so many of these types of videos. Nice atmosphere. Well done!

Do you think you could make a Maltese bazaar or market sound please? I visited Malta a while ago in 2013 and it was one of the most amazing places I ever visited. It was the second last trip I went on before my Father's passing, I know he wanted to bring us back to Malta again, and hearing the soundsof a Maltese market by the sea would mean a lot to me. thanks.
