I was truly admiring the unique methods used for such a small selection! Everything they chose had me drooling! I couldn't believe the freshness of that food. I never have raw sushi from fear of getting parasites, but something about the way it was prepared looked so delicious. And the way the seafood was grilled, prepared raw, and the bouncy freshness of it... ugh I could go on. I hate myself for having a disability because I can never get to experience dining out and enjoying life like other people do 😒

Not exactly correct. The fish shown is tai, or red seabream. The other names are different fish. Scup or porgy is Stenotomus chrysops, the Australasian snapper or silver seabream is Pagrus auratu, and seabream, also called red seabream or by its Japanese name tai, is Pagrus major. They are different fish in different regions but in the same family, Sparidae.

youre paying alot for a gimmick and honestly, it isn't actually 'fresh' fish. they're swimming in their own waste in a small artifical pond. you're paying MORE than if you just went to a fish market, for second rate fish. notice how empty the restaurant is? when fish are kept in unnatural conditions it DOES effect the meat and Japanese people know better, this was built for clueless landlocked tourists.

It's crazy to see the price of things as they are shipped across the world. I'm from Maine where lobster are caught, in the summer fishing season was as low as $3.99 a pound, so about $6 a lobster. Off season gets up to $10-12 a pound. Now living in the Midwest at Red Lobster it's about $25-30 a lobster I believe. To see it halfway around the world at $45 is crazy, but it did alot of traveling. Even so, no way in hell is a lobster worth the $45 price tag

Love your videos and this restaurant idea seems like a lot of fun to eat fresh seafood. I'm glad that the tanks look clean, fairly large enough, and not cramped with fish. Also, fyi Lobsters that sit in tanks can eat themselves/waste away from the inside out over time. That is why at shops you should always weigh your lobster to be sure. Don't be fooled by the shell size, you should always weigh them to get the best deal.

I hate myself for having a disability because I can never get to experience dining out and enjoying life like other people do 😒
honestly i think this makes you appreciate your meal and the animal more. In my opinion i believe its more personal and an experience to learn from and be thankful for what youre able to eat/the animals sacrifice
Nice!
I dont think its that deep. In malaysia we have this kind of restaurant too, some ppl eat at these kind of place to eat the food fresh
@@qwerty-cr6po Even so, that's still something to think about
ooor its more fun to catch the fucker with your own hands
Honestly I don't think I can eat here I personally can't handle killing the animal because I'd relate too much with the animal and feel really sad for it
I'll be honest, I never get tired of these videos
I wonder how many tourists accidentally eat the bait thinking it's an appetizer Edit: For those who missed it and are commenting that there is no bait - 0:38
The locals do it all the time😂
🤣
My first thought was I'd accidentally do that. 😂
How did you know I did that?
there is a no bait.
Just as you people are wondering, the fish she caught at 15:20 is called squirefish, porgy or scup in America, snapper in australasia, and red seabream in Japan
Informative comment
Not exactly correct. The fish shown is tai, or red seabream. The other names are different fish. Scup or porgy is Stenotomus chrysops, the Australasian snapper or silver seabream is Pagrus auratu, and seabream, also called red seabream or by its Japanese name tai, is Pagrus major. They are different fish in different regions but in the same family, Sparidae.
While I'm not a big fan of seafood, I have to confess the whole idea of this restaurant is really cool.
And what's better. It's fresh.
I love seafood, it's the high prices and small portions that get me
We have a few catch and cook restaurants in Michigan, but we goes out on the great lakes on a boat to catch perch, walleye, trout, whitefish and Salmon.. Fresh fish tastes so yummy.
😮 I live in Michigan and didn't know we had restaurants kinda like this!
Are there any around lake erie? I live in northern Ohio and I'd love to go to a restaurant like this!
omg where im from portage and never heard of this is it expensive

Thanks for going 2x and showing us different menu items plus prices each time and the way they can be done all in the same video. It is most helpful for us to not only see what is available but educational which all your videos tend to be while showing what may or maynot taste good. Koodos for the places you go to which also allow video recording and explaining the menus too.
I'll pay good money to eat out at this restaurant with my crew and family. It may be tad bit expensive; however, the amount of hospitality, the atmosphere it presents to guests no matter where they're from, and the experience to literally pick out your own seafood and prepared in many different ways... it's truly amazing.
It's definitely a lot cheaper now if you're converting from USD to yen. Yen used to be about a penny each but now they're like 70% of a penny so your money would go a lot farther than it would 4 years ago.
youre paying alot for a gimmick and honestly, it isn't actually 'fresh' fish. they're swimming in their own waste in a small artifical pond. you're paying MORE than if you just went to a fish market, for second rate fish. notice how empty the restaurant is? when fish are kept in unnatural conditions it DOES effect the meat and Japanese people know better, this was built for clueless landlocked tourists.
from what i see is cheaper then frozen fillet fried dish serve with fries here in the state
Rule placard in English, and someone who can explain things in English. They are definitely prepared for tourists. And I recognized the olive flounder from Animal Crossing.
Oh good, I wasn't the only one :D
Don't forget the Turban shells when diving. 🤣
It's hilarious how many of us became mini marine biologists just from playing Animal Crossing during the pandemic lol
You know this place definitely makes big money on tourists
This is an absolutely incredible idea! As a fisherman, I’d definitely eat there
I believe the phrase “shooting fish in a barrel” is apt… ok I want to go there too.

@jakel5801 would you choose the hook rod or the bait rod?
@@spindude3456 It has nothing to with how poor or rich you are here in the States. It's simply a difference of cultural mannerisms between Japan and the States. I love how the Japanese culture is so respectful and calm. You don’t hear people yelling over each other and being rude in restaurants.

Super disrespectful to the fish though
Bro Japan literally has the best restaurants out there you can literally FISH YOUR OWN FOOD!!!! That's just epic!

Where do you think the expression "like shooting fish in a barrel" comes from? No sport or challenge involved.

ngl I feel bad for the sharks... swimming around in 2 feet of water barely 10m long... at least the prawns/clams/etc wouldn't notice it but for the sharks that would be like torture...
I can deal with the fish being in there but I’m a bit horrified that two sharks are in such small tanks.
Not a fan of that either. I also doubt quite mucho grande they have one of those oxygen wells at one point in the ponds for the shark to enjoy himself and reload.
Same. Somehow I drew an imaginary line when it came to the sharks. I think the fact that they're literally decorations gives it an extra ick
While in China they just cut the fins off and throw them back into the ocean.
i already feel bad for the fish, the sharks being in there feels like abuse :( plus, what will they do if someone tries to fish up a shark? espically with the piercing hook
technically the sharks are in large enough tanks with minimum size for nurse sharks being around 1400 gallons
I stumbled on this channel because of the fun vending machine videos, and now its my favorite channel. The vibe of all the videos is also really calming.
This is one of the most chill, positive channels on the Tubes and I love it very much for that.
Your restaurant choices in japan are amazing and neat. Your videos are always so well organized and comprehensive. Keep it up.!
This channel is so amazing, as someone who loves food thanks for showing us
Another great and delicious looking video! You two are the best for bringing such awesome foodie content...and I'm very glad I found your videos.
You don't want to know what they charge you for (half!!!) a lobster here in Germany ... :')
I’m surprised, I figured Japan would be the most!! Lobster travels to the opposite side of the world to reach Japan, but Germany is only 1/4 of the world away from the source (6 time zones). You guys are getting ripped off in Germany! I would guess it’d be because of trade routes but crossing the sea from Maine to the UK is 5 time zones and it’s already almost to Germany from that point, that’s quite strange to me!
At $6 a lobster id eat about three of them
なんか海外から来てくれた方がこうやって楽しんでくれるのを見てると嬉しいな
It looks really expensive but the seafood is so fresh. I think the larger items like the fish are worth it.
I've said it before, but I just love and am so thankful for your videos. I love that you include how much each item cost. It's very insightful for those thinking of traveling. I also really appreciate your honesty.if you like it... You say it. If don't, you admit it.... It's so refreshing to see honesty instead of brand pushing. Lastly, Lady Bacon is so cute! 🫰🏽
I’m sure the olive flounder hand rolls tasted so good, I love when you can tell Ms Dancing Bacons is enjoying the food when she brings her hand up and nods it makes me so happy ❤
I took my son to this restaurant a few weeks ago. He got a spiny lobster and I went for the flounder that flounde sashimi was the best I've ever had since it was so fresh. I tried his lobster too just to make sure they did a good job cooking it. This place is legit.
I've never fallen in love with a restaurant just from its premise. But it changed with this restaurant
I love this concept so much, how fun. They did such a great way of presenting the information as well. I'd love to try this!
Circle of life just out in public for entertainment purpose, interesting. Japan has so many unique places to eat & visit. I truly hope to get to visit Japan someday when my health improves. Wasn't expecting the bonus visit! Way cool
This place is amazing! I never knew fishing restaurants existed. You guys are living the dream. Thanks for sharing!
Man, my dad would probably love this restaurant! My dad, and his dad, both love seafood; one time, they and two friends went to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet here in America, and they literally decided to take advantage of the "all-you-can-eat" slogan, and stayed there so long, the manager had to request them to leave.
I wish I could eat seafood (allergic) because this looks like such a fun and interesting experience!
Take ur allergic pills before and after eating because i had same problem like urs 😂
I went here before! It is a very fun experience for me as a kid. The fish are very big and delicious, would recommend highly
Love that smile shes shows while snacking on the fried shrimp. Awesome!

I find this both really cool and fun since I'm a fisherman but it also seems cruel
Japan always does things so over the top.... Awesome!
This place seems so fun! I don't know if I could do it though, if only because there are some fish in the ponds I have never tried and won't know if I'll like and be able to eat. But the fact they can prepare it in different ways is wonderful.
This is really a unique experience. Nice feast.
Another channel I watch called, "The Crane Couple" came here as well. It's a really neat idea, they enjoyed it as well. She lucked out with her catch. If it was smaller you can't get it cooked 2 ways. So awesome job & thank you for the vid! Be safe & take care! ❤
My favorite part of your videos is seeing the happy face of your wife when you guys are eating. She makes it feel that more delicious!
Have this place on my list to visit when I go to Japan in the fall, looks like a lot of fun.

Honestly I just think its cruel having the fish in a prison like that waiting to die, it must be terrifying for them seeing others get hooked and disappear knowing they will be next one day
I was thinking same but tried to see the bright side of at least the tank looked clean and spacious vs a packed aquarium you see in markets.
