KFC Canada opened its doors and let customers behind the counter with the world’s first KFC Cooking School. Although KFC franchises around the world have allowed customers and fans behind the scenes in the past, letting the public cook their own meals is a KFC world-first. Everything was revealed except their 11 herbs and spices.
I paid $5 to learn more about the KFC brand and cook my own fried chicken from start to finish. Plus, we were able to devour it too.

Chef dude just stands there like an idle GTA character cause they told him "don't put your hands in your pockets or do anything weird"
He stands like Korean militaries at the DMZ
Thats what i like to say 😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣
lol
😂😂😂😂😂
To be frank this video was more educational and well explained by the Staff. This video shows how professional is KFC and how serious they take their business.
You actually think they do it like this when the customers aren’t in the kitchen?
It's always up to the people how serious and professional you want to do your job
You just know David felt awkward AF having to stand there like that. Feel for him.
What they don't show as well is how much a shift runner or manager blames the cooks for every little thing that goes wrong. Don't show how a cook gets told to stop cooking for a bit then getting verbally abused for not having chicken cooked the second they want it also don't show how filthy the back can get during a busy lunch or dinner time rush, which again is the cooks fault according to management. By the way I speak from experience, I was a cook for KFC in the UK.
init. team leaders are all brain dead
oh course they didn't show that you moron
David looks like his bodyguard... scoping out the room for anyone who will try to steal the recipe. 2:10
Back in the day in Orillia Ontario @ " The Sundial Restaurant ", the colonel attended the first opening of his KFC with my boss Rob greenwood. I was the first person to cook and run the drive-through. I had 6 hand-dipped pressure cookers running all the time.
😱😱💪💪
Why David back there standing like that? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anyone else come to this video after watching another older video on KFC training??? I'm happy to see the progress on cooking such delicious fast food chicken.
Lol they really didn't like that "chicken is dead" comment 😂😂
Thanks for the effort ad the info
Gotta say, I am a kitchen hand at KFC and this is semi-accurate although there is ALOT of show put on for this. For 1, we use gloves when breeding the chicken 2 wash our hands almost every 2 minutes, 3 use bare hands to handle the cookers and keep them on "Drop" temp (About 175-180 degrees C), only record chicken temp and times for the OP diaries and some other things, but this is farely accurate. Plus idk about other KFC's but usually music is blaring and the breeding table is 10x more messy xD
ITSMRPOPO1804 I would use more than gloves for breeding the chickens. And don’t get caught, that is illegal in most states.
Ooooooo I want to see the breeding table!👍🍆🚬👪
Just make sure u grease the glove before u breed the chickens. :)
This is true man
The guy David look so proud .. he does not move. He looks like he took 5 doses of mdma to rip this thing apart
I worked before at kfc many years ago in the philippines and we dont have that kind of fryer. The kfc in the philippines uses Henny Penny Fryers but some of the methods shown on here is the same in the philippines
Love the staff room 😂 a table
Great explanation
Whoa your guys stuff look so better than nz well the cold burger station area. Even the cooks area is better 😍😍
Good job David!
KFC cuts the chicken pieces in half, sometime even smaller. KFC is a shell of it former self! The Colonel Sanders must be spinning in his grave! His restaurant has gone so far downhill, and he was ALL about quality!! RIP Colonel...
100%
Thanks to the KFC management and the show us their secret kitchen on how they cook their KFC... Very clean and advance...
thanks for the video ! i'm starting to work at KFC at this gives me a very good idea of what to do as a cook
can you say the time, temp, pressure ratio? and the secret ingredients?
@@thegoldenboy294 all us cooks know is the time and temp nothing else

Why I love living in Toronto . I’m Orginally am from Pennsylvania and they neverrrrrrrrrrr do this in USA
Why in the beginning is David standing like he's waiting to dash across the restaurant and choke me the fuck out. He has the body language of a Eastern European hit man. Guy cooks hella good chicken though.
Abbotsford, BC!!!
11:30 flour not topped up enough. would get marked down for that on a kfc inspection
Those velocity pressure cookers nowadays can handle 26 lbs at a time. I’m thinking that a good comparison would be the marinated birds vs seasoned breaded. Sanders was working with a totally different bird when he started up. Requires longer cooking time and difficult to get consistent browning of the breading. Thanks for the video
i have worked in a KFC for a few years, we NEVER and i mean NEVER discarded any product after 90min or any other period of time. some people would get 3h old chicken, if your chicken was nasty tasting/super dry that's why. also NO book to record when the trays come up.
whats the time, temp, pressure?
Paul Games please tell me Paul i'm so interested why is KFC Chicken so damn Greasy compared to mary browns & Popeyes ?
its cooked in a pressure cooker for about 20 min so it's basically submerged in oil, it absorbing the oil, that's why its so greasy
I started KFC over 4 decades ago - say twice year, Always hot, crispy and juicy, Bought it once a year after that, noticing it wasn't like it once was. Gave up a decade ago and make my own on my birthday with my 6 herbs and spices and in my pressure cooker. Since then, friends and family at social events demand I make mine for them. I get free beer and at times the 'special' chicken = chick.
Paul games. I work in KFC and if you don't waste the product after it should be then you're in trouble. And also, the books are gone. Now it's computer that says how much stuff you have to waste and when. The numbers are added to computer automatically as you press the product and quantity on the pressure fryer.
"Don't touch it" 😂😂
Never knew they had machines like that for breading chicken.
Great video! I work in KFC Venezuela.
can you say the time, temp, pressure ratio? and the secret ingredients?
Thank you
Very Nice love KFC
So Crispy and Spicy have a different breading mix than original?
They use to brown (open fry) then pressure cook for the final cooking /browning. Cool video though!
Yeah they open them up there in Canada while they close ALL of them down here in the south like Louisiana and been closed since yes 2017 or 2018
It's actually nice to hear a KFC employee speak proudly about the brand. I live in the Toronto area and service is universally BAD here. Employees are generally indifferent, unapologetic when service is slow, they're not polite and refer to their famous Original Recipe as "regular" chicken. You would NEVER, EVER hear that in the United States.
Of course he is going to speak proudly lol. His bosses will see this. Do you think he will have a job if he slags it off?
Same process like we do im MXN
Soooo, you basically did an hours worth of KFC new-hire training, except you paid them as opposed them paying you to be trained.
KFC in Canada use to be a nice clean place but not now.
@15:00 kinda like the kickstarter of its time... kinda like starting a business bro
Lol that chef standing like an NPC
Nice video
Where I can get racking chart? Somebody can provide
Plenty of work goes into making their chicken and different than other restaurants and that is great and the reason I love their chicken most of all, especially their original recipe chicken.
Really you would deep fry your food at home by having a pot of bubbling oil over a exposed heating element or flame. some glad nothing ever happens while doing that. :) BUT sounds scary as hell to me. but if someone from KFC is teaching people about safe food handling and food prep and cooking they obviously know what they are talking about. Thanks KFC.
KFC COOKING SCHOOL!? Why aren't you participating already!
The finished texture looks nothing like what KFC outlets used to produce. Combine that fact with the lower quantity (if not absence of) the eleven herbs and spices, and what you're left with is an over-priced product that tastes nothing like it used to. Oh, did I mention the fact there's a dried egg and milk mixture that's added to the breading flour that they didn't bother to mention? The last time I ate KFC from an outlet was three weeks ago, and it tasted mostly of pure sodium. The pieces appeared burnt and the coating was very thin. A total waste of money when better fried chicken can be found elsewhere for a lower price. What qualifies me to say all this? Merely the fact I can emulate the original recipe and texture to a "T". And no, I don't rely on the bullshit "Leaked" version from the Chicago Tribune. My source likely originates from an executive who became pissed off with what the KFC brand has become. I also use a pressure-fryer and a frying medium that consists of canola and shortening blended together. The rest is a solid technique that includes prep, time, and temperature to achieve optimal results.
So what is the recipe?
Total horseshit.
@@markwinston3119 What is horseshit about what I'm saying? Have you eaten their crappy food lately? Prove me wrong.
@@RebuttalRecords you could replicate the OR to a T? I call horseshit. And not all branches serve bad chicken. Some still really serve excellent ones.
@@markwinston3119 I'd say pretty darn close, especially the texture. To get the classic texture you need to pressure-fry in a mixture of canola oil and vegetable shortening (2:1 works well). As for the spices, there's an obscure list of them floating around on the 'Net. Not many people know about that recipe, and it's the closest one I've found where the flavor of the OR from the 70s and 80s is concerned.
Show this too PETA
First: The production facility makes a special "secret spice" and "other' ingredients in a marinade. This marinade is shipped to the chicken/meat production facility, where the marinade is applied a specific way, for a specific amount of time. The meat is then shipped to restaurants, where it it's prepared, a specific way. Even the manager in this video, has NO CLUE, how the secret recipe works ;-) I have left out even MORE specific details, due to secrecy standards.
Quit lying
@@perezdavidangel: Not a lie. Here is more truth: I can make it at home - the original recipe, with eleven herbs and spices. NOT this new one with only three.
@@perezdavidangel: The secret is in the marinade at the production facility, where the eleven herbs and spices are infused into the raw chicken for 24 hours - it's not just in the flour or the chicken would taste bland with only the tasty crust. In case no one has researched KFC, the eleven herbs and spices no longer exist - it was reduced to save money and time, several years ago.
Great video! It shows exactly how KFC is meant to be prepared. Sadly though, its hard to trust that these high standards will be followed by the teenage workers they employ, especially when under the pump during the dinner time rush hours. But, still, I do love me a nice feed of Dirty-Bird!
Question...why is David standing with his legs spread?
Well , he thought he is at millitary school of something...or that his own style of standing..
It looks like he has a butt plug in.
If kfc had crispy chicken like popeyes it would be better..why its soggy is beyond me, in canada kfc needs to step up their game
Before eating my KFC, I always whisper a silent prayer to the selfless Gallus gallus domesticus that selflessly surrendered its life force for me in order to that I, a mere human can savour it's sacrificial flesh. The herbs and spices are purely incidental.
Flour with spices - spices = flour... Hmm, makes sense
It's completely different I work at kfc in Georgia in the US
Cool
Where the gloves at im about to start working at kfc ill update you guys on some of this stuff in florida there set-up does look the same

Ohhh this side of youtube
how do they prepare the breading of spicy crunchy chicken , please ??
dcspeedskater Any Change you know what spicy spices they put in it? Do they put it in the flour(breading) or after the chicken is frying?
dcspeedskater Ty for response Bro..
Jefke Theboss I think dcspeedskater is right I would think they would marinate it before breading but we only make oringal and crispy were I work
goodmeal12345 the spicy chicken is marinated and then put in flour dipped in the water then back in the flour that’s how the spicy crunchy chicken is battered the extra dip in the water then back in flour is what gives it the extra crunchy skin🤗
❤️
Did he ever mention what that one or two spices were?
he said salt and pepper.
Great presentation however todays KFC have steered from this and have taken shortcuts !!
Very interesting and well presented & yes why do they not wear gloves?
It can get in the food and be a real bad time
They don't use gloves?
They don't put an egg batter to the chicken most people does..!
Kfc doesn't
Lol just because thia is how there supposesd to do things doesnt mean they do lmao
can u take the herbs ans spices home
S u can 😜
there are plenty good recipes for fry chicken on youtube. No need to even want the spices.
So why is Canada's KFC so greasy ? 🤔 don't change oil or they pour grease on chicken after it's made
Yeah and those chips...that grease just pours down your arm doesn't it? chicken juice
@Create Tube what Kfc is greasy in Canada unless you love Greasy Chicken & fries

I control several mass food production places. Word to the wise, if you doing a training video where are you gloves?
Everyone seems twacked out y'all must be on some ish up there in canadia. Like the persons foot shaking was irritating in the beginning. The cook guy moving around like he's just itching to batter some chicken, or wait for Canadian dana snyder to stfu. KFC was my second job and it was terrible. I was a cook, nastiest job I ever had. The prep station wasn't grounded properly and if my hands were wet, I'd get a nasty shock preparing the "fresh chicken" We got robbed 3 times while I was there, our little doorbell style alarms under the registers didn't work. I gained about 30 lbs because we could eat whatever we wanted to. We smoked on shift in the restaurant. One time we put leftover nasty ass dark meat chicken in the pissed off dishwasher's tailpipe and he blew his engine because it was packed so hard. He had a heart attack over the stress. It was pure chaos there.
Oh yeah, another time a new guy tried to force open the pressure cooker and ended up going to the hospital for really bad burns and also took the back window cashier with him. It was gnarly. Guess it was my fault for not telling him, but I was 15 and wasn't trained properly either. The store burned down a few years after I left and got rebuilt into something called "freddie's burgers". 90 minutes my ass, we were told to hold until it got sold.
Sooo, not even the employes get to know the secret ingredients? they take the flour mixed with the ingredients already to the kfc locations?
The flour comes in large bags which we add first then we add the spices which are in bags also to the mix then hand mix and sift through it once
@@Jay-zu5yb interesting, thanks. What if i took a portion of the spices to analyze for all the ingredients? You think it would work?
@@thegoldenboy294 probably not as the mixture is so fine and a manager will stop you before you get that far and if you do make it out of the store you'll have a surprise phone call bc every store is cctv monitored good luck

Plenty of MSG. Also dry egg powder and powder milk is mixed to the flour mix along with spices and salt. The frying oil is also responsible for the specific flavor.

I wanna try Canadian KFC cause the USA 🇺🇸 KFC original is disgusting these days. Super oily and cheap tasting now like they left out a few herbs and spices or didn’t cook it right lol. It’s seriously not good in the states anymore. It used to be amazing in the 80s and 90s. My stomach hated me for it last month, the original never tastes the same like it once did and now tastes like cooked in gutter oil or something.

I thought they slaughtered live chickens on the premises to ensure freshness. How disappointing!
That's a dumb comment.
good video, it didn't show how often the cook has to wash his/her hands. After the chicken is breaded, aren't the hands washed again before the gloves are put on? I didn't see the cook wearing a hairnet, only a baseball cap. why aren't latex gloves worn instead of bare hands, aren't there latex gloves long enuff to use in place of always washing hands and wut about towel lint being transferred onto the hands?
Lmao this is why they call it FAST food. News check buddy, if you're worried about stuff like this maybe stop eating fast food. I've seen horrendous things on the other side of the counter.
Latex gloves are not more hygienic than regularly washed hands. In fact, they can often be worse. They aren't immune to bacteria.
