Full kudos to @ChazzRavenelle for taking on a barrage of lightning bolts to the brain for coming up with this delicious mashup! Its like The Lighthouse meets The Batman! Haha I immediately got to work on voice matching Willem Dafoe as if he was cast opposite of Robert Pattinson’s Batman! Yes I’m the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude! A ton of my style and writing was infused into this and I truly enjoyed the process. For the artwork, I retrofitted a Dafoe Joker I had made some time ago so that he is more in line with the Matt Reeves Batverse. Which was easy because Dafoe already has the perfect face reminiscent of the man who laughs! Also the guy IS the Smile Man!
The care and investment Chazz put into this experience goes way above any production titles I could possibly use to describe what he did. He went beyond the call of a music composer, sound designer, animator and visual effects editor. Even when this video was audio only at first he made my voice shine through. He knew every tune and motif represented in The Batman by Michael Giacchino. THIS theme is the most involved piece of music Chazz has EVER done and it compliments Riddlers and Batman’s perfectly! Total deconstructive ingenuity! He was patient and had incredible knowledge to share whenever I had any questions! Seeing just a glimpse of the technical side of the visual components was so rewarding, let alone experiencing the finalized version! THANKS FOR THE NIGHTMARE FUEL HAHAHA Many of you will be entranced by it, with his hypnotic vampire stare! Extremely grateful to meet the moment and deliver artwork and a voice performance only Chazz knows how to elevate. I wouldn’t have been able to embark on this journey without you brother. Thank YOU!

One thing I like about having an older Joker like a hypothetical Dafoe's paired against a younger Batman (Battinson) in this setup is that it almost makes Joker a mentor-like figure. A twisted one, but a mentor nonetheless, almost like a guide in this new world of madness that people like the Batman or the Riddler live in. Which I guess is essentially exactly what the original Hannibal Lecter-Clarice Starling dynamic was in Silence of the Lambs, which is clearly where this scene (and many others) got its inspiration.
I agree whole-heartedly. My favorite Joker is the original Golden Age/Criminal Joker from those early Batman issues where he's clearly an older, veteran gangster up against a younger Batman, and I think Dafoe would capture that aspect perfectly.
We ain't getting a Willem in the Battison world but maybe James Gunn can bring it to the new world since they haven't cast one yet. Hopefully.

He would also be very similar to the Jack Nicholson joker because he killed his parents and the original Tim Burton Batman. Therefore, it would be more logical to have the age gap.

I am convinced that we were robbed of this. Love Barry but honestly would have been cool to see Willem Dafoe play Joker It's like ingrained into his DNA.
Personally I thought the stars were aligned when Dafoe and Pattinson made The Lighthouse together but perhaps there was a schedule conflict. Happens to the best. Besides The Batman was in limbo for years and Barrys Joker wasn’t integral to the story at all so that tells me they had to make up loosing their original Joker card. Could be wrong but I think it’s safe to say EVERY BAT FAN WOULDA GONE NUTS!

As much as I agree, animation would be a disservice to his effortless body language and facial expressions he IS animated! But yes that would be wonderful as well

I genuinely forgot at points that this wasn't Willem speaking, that's how spot on the voice work is! Genuinely believe that WB dropped the ball in not having Dafoe as Joker, nothing against Mr. Keoghan but I just don't see him as THE Joker, perhaps as a follower/copycat or his son and the laugh sounds too much like a 16 year old's. After watching The Lighthouse in theaters, I was PRAYING Dafoe got cast because that film essentially proved how perfect Pattinson and Dafoe would be in their hypothetical Batman and Joker dynamic. When I heard that this young Irish dude that I barely heard of was being speculated to play Joker, I was so sad and irate because I felt as though a perfect opportunity was missed and like I get it, this is a younger Batman ergo, his villains should be closer in age but I never really saw Joker as the same age as Bruce, much less do I see Joker as even younger than Batman because that's the vibe given in the few scenes Keoghan's Joker appears in.

Even thought about Dafoe being papa joker just a few days ago too! Wow hahaha this is funny! No way home might have been the deciding factor in this casting unfortunately! My thing about the age similarities is that it feels safe when the heroes are in the same class as the villains. Whereas in the original star wars trilogy, we had vader, tarkin, the emperor, etc who were much older and posed more of a threat to the young trio. Hux and Kylo are not threatening in any way. So I like a mixed bag of backgrounds but Im hoping they make it work! Still woulda loved Dafoe Joker! Thanks for commenting, I enjoyed your insight!

Willem Defoe needs to be joker in James Gunn’s Universe
I still like to think in the back of my mind, that the suposed Joker from Barry is just a copycat, a crazy follower. So the real Joker could show up later in the story to trick all of us, and be played by Dafoe. I mean, Dafoe is there and already show interest in the character. WB dropped the ball on the oportunity. It would be a dream come true. It would be the creepiest Joker ever. Look at him!
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought so, I don't hate Barry but he's not fully convincing me that he's the "real Joker", this is a retcon I would absolutely support especially with how much of a crime it is that Dafoe hasn't been cast, like WB needs to stop wasting him in Aquaman (he would have been perfect as Batfleck's Joker) and make him THE Joker.

Reeves’s grin idea is definitely a nod to Dafoe’s role in the smile man short film, though I’m not sure where the idea was to apply an abundance of prosthetics on Barry when Dafoe simply held his smile and it worked wonderfully! Yeah I can see where that would get a little old but I think there is a beauty in it too, try to find his stage performance as a military officer, they doll him up in clown white and green hair and it’s gorgeous!
