I absolutely love the way her character is not even once minimized for her femininity. Everyone who watched this show would agree she has never looked weak or fragile. The makeup and costume people did her so right. I absolutely love that you can see the Indian reference in her clothes and makeup all the time. This show is such a masterpiece.

And when they did show her weak and vulnerable, it was because she was an old Earth politician in space and not her gender, which was further emphasized with how she was juxtaposed with Bobbie Draper's strength at that time.
I think it goes further than that, she uses her femininity as a source of strength. When she puts on fancy gowns and expensive jewelry it's like she's getting ready for battle

It would either be the verbal smackdown or tactical love affair for the ages. But most likely both, in that order. Heaven help us all.
It'd be funny, but I think Olenna was a lot more flowery with her insults while Chrisjen would probably call Cersei the c word to her face.
And then add the Dowager Countess Violet Crawley to get a touch of graciously refined insults.
Chrisja Avasarala, Lady Olenna Tyrell, and the Dowager Countess of Grantham. The levels of shade and savagery would be beyond comprehension.
She'd burry Olenna. The queen of thorns is good at what she does, but is limited by the cultural norms she grew up in.
The expanse would not be the same without Shohreh Aghdashloo as Avasarala.
True - but the great characters are so abundant - Ashford, Drummer, Miller, Bobby, Fred, Dawes - nothing else comes near the depth. The only real weakness seems to be the villains.

I think what there planning is finishing the expanse at s6 just at the time jump point in the books then doing a "spin off" show that covers the post jump part
Ya, I remember Ty saying discreetly that there's a natural end point at s6 but that considering it an "ending" is out of place, and that shows nowadays should always be considered open to further development
This comment needs way more votes. I can understand taking a bit of a break after season six due to the time gap but I'm thinking three more seasons is a must, the Laconian story line is just too good to give up on, it's the culmination of the entire series, why would you quit a race within sight of the finish line?
I've read somewhere there might be a movie trilogy in planning, that could be the material after book 6

shohreh aghdashloo is one of the very few people who honestly got more alluring as she aged. if you look at pics of her when she was in her 20s, she was pretty but nothing showstopping. now she practically oozes glamour, audacity and power.
Its the fantastic wardrobe as well. Its nothing most people have seen before..Its not just Indian wear. its couture indian.

She is not only one of my all time favourite characters in The Expanse - she is one of my favourite characters of ALL TIME in any series or genre and that's REALLY saying a lot. It's hard to put into words just how absolutely astonishing Shohreh Aghdashloo is at her craft, she so UTTERLY NAILED this character so amazingly I think she a carpenter more than an actress. This is a performance for the ages.
Definitely one of my favorite characters in any SF books. And perfect casting of Shohreh Aghdashloo, imo; really love her in this role. The writing feels true to the books, too; which feels rare for screen adaptations. It's a well done series, imo. Thanks for this executive summary!

Only discovered "The Expanse" a few months ago and ended up binge-watching 6 seasons in 3 weeks. Shohreh Aghdashloo's character was - for me - the best in the series.

That speech, threat, warning, promise, is the best in the series by any of the characters. Perfectly written and perfectly delivered. I was disappointed it was not included in this vignette.

what a QUEEN I remember the first thing I saw her in was the exorcism of emily rose and ever since I've always been drawn to her as an actress, her voice is like whiskey and a good cigar and I cant get enough of it

If you haven't seen "House of Sand and Fog" I recommend it most highly. She was Oscar-nominated for it - deservedly, in my opinion - and remains the only Persian-born actress ever nominated for an Academy Award. She's so good that she's even perfect in scenes where she's in the background. Oh, and Season 4 of "24" features her in a major guest role that the fans eventually dubbed - quite fondly - "Terror Mom".

That's what I first saw her in too, such a shame that even after her Oscar nomination she really only had supporting roles, she got to shine so bright in the show a stole every single scene she was in, what a treasure.

I first saw her in Twenty-Four as the wife of a Terrorist Cell in America...she was utterly incredible. Next time was Mass Effect. Her ascent worked so well as the Quarian Admiral. She is a massive treasure to the screen she appears on but her voice is simply Iconic.

This show, Battlestar, Exosquad, and DS9 are about the only sci fi I watch or repeat, having the authors as consultants is paying dividends in how well this show is written!
