Hot take: no one. Let’s not have Joker in this universe, it’s an overdone part for a character that has been saturated and exhausted out of their exciting potential. Even the Phoenix films have nothing to do with what the character is about, despite their obvious quality. Let’s make way for the other 86 interesting Batman villains.

I think Javier Bardem would be an interesting choice. We already know he can play a deranged killer from his role in ‘No Country for Old Men’. Plus, he’d be coming off of a stellar performance in Dune.
Willem Dafoe always struck me as a natural for the role. Have you seen his face, the shape of his jawlines, that sinister smile of his he flashed in his role as Green Goblin?
I’ve wanted this for so long. I’ve always wondered how different his Joker would be than his goblin.

Rami Malek. If you ever watched Mr. Robot, even if you didn't end up liking the show, you can't deny how much of a disturbed, intelligent, and wild card character he played as Elliot Alderson. This dude is phenomenal and has amazing acting chops but he isn't being given the right roles. Though to be fair, any actor who ends up playing this role, will certainly benefit if they have the right director.

I'm surprised none of you during the show had in mind to mention Tom Hiddleston. Now... I know that his bond with Loki is very strong and difficult to forget when watching him after so many years in the character, BUT, if you look at Joker's features from the animated series, I think that Tom has already all the attributes and very little need of make-up to give us one of the craziest smiling Joker. A perfect real world translation from the cartoons and the video game, which would still appear as a new direction I believe. I'd like to hear your opinion on this nominee. Thanks.

I know I’m probably the 792,956,201st person to say this but I would love Bill Skarsgard for Joker!!!! From IT to John Wick 4, I feel like he could easily pull off the genius yet sociopathic aspects of the character!!! Also especially with John Wick 4 where he is wearing all those nice suits and just seeing all those wide shots where you see his lanky build, I can’t help but get severe Joker vibes. Also another name that I can’t help but wonder (even though it may be either just crazy or crazy enough to work) is Michael Pitt!!!! Absolutely loved how psychotic he was as Mason Verger in Hannibal and I feel like he can easily bring that energy to Joker (even though I’m not sure what his doing now).

William Defoe! He might be too old but come on! He was born to play him. I would want him to play the classic Joker too, not even Jack nailed that. I always thought that Caesar Romero's Joker in the old Adam West show but in a more serious realm, without the slapstick, and be truly murderous would be terrifying. Have Defoe do THAT. Maybe more reserved at times. I have yet to see the true Joker on the screen. Heath was the closest in a weird way for me, but of course a bit of grunge rock. Walter Goggins would be great, or even Timothy Olyphant! Will Poulter I can see. Adam Driver would be a stretch but interesting.

ya know what would be crazy... with Gunn's ability to draw out an actor's best, with the love that people have for him now... Hayden Christensen would excite the hell out of me. Out of the ones listed by John, I think Jim Carrey is genius. Jeff isn't too far off with Sandler... But Ray, they slept on your pick... give Orlando Bloom the chance! I love that man's filmography and I think he could rise to the occasion. (just look at the work he put in from 2001 to 2007 - he's ready for the spotlight again)
