  • Epic. I am little surprised the mechanics do not use any gloves, there is no risk of corosion? The parts did not seem to be greasy yet. And what is an overall weight of this monster?

    • You need a new engine quicker( more profit) and you save on oil for production (even more profit) As MAN is run by VW you know they do it on purpose

  • MAN TGX + V8 engine producing 500 kW / 680 hp & 3000 Nm = WOOOOOWWWW!!! But sadly, I have recently read that this sensational engine is out of production... Anyway, the new "D38" six-cylinder engines are also fantastic, and the top version has the same maximum torque (3000 Nm) and only 40 hp less. Joan (John in Catalan). Barcelona.

  • i allways fill the oil into a rebuilt engine through the valve covers, to make sure the camshaft and rockers are oiled before i start the engine..

    • Some components already been oiled, though hard to see here. Then engines are pre-lubed prior to initial starting, rather like a large marine diesel is at every start.

    • sixmagpies the pistons, and the piston rings they not have any oil at all, if you assembly without oil, the piston rings could suffer a crack, the connecting rod or crankshaft rod metals are made of copper, iron and lead and they are not a good metals to withstand the friction

    • These components are pre-lubricated with a purpose made spray assembly oil. They don't mess about with oil cans at MAN!
