  • Thank you for the vid. I always struggle with actually “clamping” down / pinching them. They seem to sense me and just dip back into their hole. I did also try working pliers but they either end up breaking at the head or they end up getting sand between worm and pliers and so the worm escapes. Any tips on how to best clamp them? You seems to use sand to clamp them?

    @YouSydneyTube@YouSydneyTube2 жыл бұрын
    • I use a different method then her seems to work really well. Put your fingers under the sand a bit wait for the worm to arch it’s back and just before it goes to pull the bait back down the hole clamp it. It won’t have any strength if you time it right. Then you just work it out slowly. Grab it with the other hand when the first one gets a grip.

  • Awesome video, have you ever tried metho? Or is salt the best way to do them? I’ve never tried either, but I’ll be giving it a go next trip to Fraser. 😀 cheers

    @drewby9672@drewby96722 жыл бұрын
    • My husband and I have enjoyed over the recent while catching out own bait, using a combination of placing the worms in a combination solution of metho & red 'cake icing' dye for about 30 seconds (after which the worm's flesh toughens, the red dye maintaining their colour) before putting say 5 at a time in little zip bags, prior to freezing. Just a couple of days ago, I happened to strike up a conversation with an old and experienced fisher in a local Anaconda store. He suggested rather than use the metho approach (which he found horrible!), putting the worms into a heavily salted solution was the best method, prior to freezing. He advised that when they thaw, the worms better resemble a freshly caught worm than the metho approach, as well, the worms better retain their natural colour. I admire the way the young lass in this video goes about catching the worms though (which I intend trying next time!), but we have also found success in using a special beach worm plastic pliers (available from fishing stores, including BCF) which I'll post a link.) and this little tool has also helped us catch lots of worms, as well, you don't tend to get 'nipped' by its little claws LOL. With the plier approach though, we adapted ours by cutting/shortening one of the handles so that the pliers better close down on the worm. We saw this recommended on another video which proved helpful. Happy worming. www.bcf.com.au/p/alvey-worming-pliers/400687.html
