There's alot going on in a split second....taking into account Necas lost his edge(luckily), Trouble would have made contact with his body. Elbow went by his head and he did poke out the chicken wing. But all of that happened in less than a second. Blink and it's over. It would have been a hard board check. A REALLY hard check. Slow the video down at 0:25, which is just before trouba goes flying. It’s pretty clear that the only reason his feet leave the ice is the get kicked out from under him. Also, I believe this moment to be the anticipation point of contact from trouba, so if necas is not 45 degrees and is more upright skating, the hit likely goes through the body. The elbow should be more tucked, sure, but look at the play. It looks way worse because trouba goes flying into the boards head on, but if you know how hockey players hit, trouba is not trying to go into that hit head on, he’s going from an angle leading with his side. Necas is about as tall as trouba, if he doesn’t fall over, the hit is through the chest, which I’m also at least partially basing on eyeballing where trouba’s arm is height wise in relation to the boards, as well as necas’ height which you can also see normally at 0:24 when he’s skating with the puck. Frankly, if he makes contact and necas isn’t falling over, it’s probably a similar hit to the Deangelo hit in game 1, except necas isn’t 4 inches taller than trouba, like cullye is for Deangelo . All in all, trouba probably should’ve kept the elbow in tighter, but if he doesn’t extend after his feet get taken out, he might have a broken neck. People act like trouba is Tom Wilson. Trouba is a player that dances the line between clean and dirty, but most of his hits are clean, big and brutal, but clean. I won’t pretend like all of them are, but some people seem to think every hit he throws is dirty. I think if normal contact is made with necas not falling over, it’s through the body, but borderline on cleanliness because the elbow isn’t tucked enough, but I doubt it would’ve caught his head. I think it looks worse because it looks like he’s just trying to make some contact with necas after he sees him falling, but if he wanted to do that he’d actually drop the elbow down and to the left, so idk. I’d guess the initial intention was a classic strong hit through the chest, but it fell apart when necas fell, leading to, at worst, a really bad looking last ditch effort to make any contact. Also, anyone who thinks trouba brought his skate down on necas’ head on purpose is a complete clown. There’s absolutely no way he had the wherewithal to do that, and even if he did, he wouldn’t, especially after what happened earlier this year. Trouba was falling and it happened to go that way, complete accident

This is honestly a big problem rn in the NHL. I understand the NHL wants to have a boys have at it approach, but this is how people get hurt. If games were actually officiated probably, then we would never see 5 on 5 play. Unfortunately until they decide to start calling games with 20 plus powerplays, the injuries are going to keep going up and players that play like this will never be disaplined by coaching staffs for losing them games by sitting in the box.

There's more that one thing wrong with that sequence. You'd have to change the entire position and everything to make that not a dangerous hit. No elbow. Don't launch yourself off the ice. Come in at a different angle. So I completely disagree. I think it's almost entirely unacceptable from any angle. Just purely dangerous with obvious intent to injure.

In recent years alot of amateur/pro hockey players put themselves in bad positions normally in past keep your head up/no death passes in middle of Ice. Now they don't learn and think they can do it. You now have parents want kids in game participation is welcome but if not expecting play junior higher levels just play A3 or just for fun. 160 pound kids or who have medical issues shouldn't be allowed if can't take it go to college or get regular job. Few years ago kid USHL and junior had seizure shaking on ice. Looks graphic but I'm sure if your doctor knew you were putting yourself in a game with medical issues reccomend not to do it.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a missed hit. Simple, but funny. Then I noticed how he was going for an elbow to the face, much less funnier and more concerning. Finally, when he missed with his elbow Trouba decides to bring his skate down on Necas's head: the way his right leg moves is absolutely intentional, there's no way Trouba didn't know Necas was there. Slow the video down at 0:25, which is just before trouba goes flying. It’s pretty clear that the only reason his feet leave the ice is the get kicked out from under him. Also, I believe this moment to be the anticipation point of contact from trouba, so if necas is not 45 degrees and is more upright skating, the hit likely goes through the body. The elbow should be more tucked, sure, but look at the play. It looks way worse because trouba goes flying into the boards head on, but if you know how hockey players hit, trouba is not trying to go into that hit head on, he’s going from an angle leading with his side. Necas is about as tall as trouba, if he doesn’t fall over, the hit is through the chest, which I’m also at least partially basing on eyeballing where trouba’s arm is height wise in relation to the boards, as well as necas’ height which you can also see normally at 0:24 when he’s skating with the puck. Frankly, if he makes contact and necas isn’t falling over, it’s probably a similar hit to the Deangelo hit in game 1, except necas isn’t 4 inches taller than trouba, like cullye is for Deangelo . All in all, trouba probably should’ve kept the elbow in tighter, but if he doesn’t extend after his feet get taken out, he might have a broken neck. People act like trouba is Tom Wilson. Trouba is a player that dances the line between clean and dirty, but most of his hits are clean, big and brutal, but clean. I won’t pretend like all of them are, but some people seem to think every hit he throws is dirty. I think if normal contact is made with necas not falling over, it’s through the body, but borderline on cleanliness because the elbow isn’t tucked enough, but I doubt it would’ve caught his head. I think it looks worse because it looks like he’s just trying to make some contact with necas after he sees him falling, but if he wanted to do that he’d actually drop the elbow down and to the left, so idk. I’d guess the initial intention was a classic strong hit through the chest, but it fell apart when necas fell, leading to, at worst, a really bad looking last ditch effort to make any contact. Also, anyone who thinks trouba brought his skate down on necas’ head on purpose is a complete clown. There’s absolutely no way he had the wherewithal to do that, and even if he did, he wouldn’t, especially after what happened earlier this year. Trouba was falling and it happened to go that way, complete accident
