    • You don’t have video reviews up for two of the top five (Dreame L20 and X2 Omni)? It’s nice with this summary but I would like to see a full review before purchasing. It also would have been great if you linked to your reviews of the robots, not just to Amazon.

  • I would've been fine with a longer video including more models, explanations, and testing since you have so many robots; this is usually your most anticipated video of the year so I assume you'd want to make it longer too just for more ad revenue. Feeling a bit underwhelmed with just a 6 minute video EDIT: Is there a way to see the spreadsheet? I want to see more details and options between the top and midtier, or just see the scoring in general to make a better informed purchase because I don't think this video provides enough information for everyone

    • it's a lazy video and he's mainly going off deep clean carpet test.. not real world functionality. This is obvious since he's recommending a 600 series over an i3/i5 on sale... i5 w/ mop attachment is currently $230 from IRobot and other retailers. Even if the 600 series hits $150 on blackfriday.. It would be very dumb to purchase it over a slightly more expensive i3 or i5.

  • I'm a big fan of your meticulous and very grounded technical approach to evaluation! The only thing i've been eagerly missing is an actual spreadsheet with all the scores for all the robots you've tested -- when taking my decision i'm looking at specific dimensions more than the others (for ex, i care much less about base station and more about the performance, navigation) and having the scores would make decision making process much simpler (down to pay for access too).

    • This exactly! I don't care at all about mopping ability (I have mostly carpet and don't mind mopping my small bathroom and kitchen myself) and could go either way on a self emptying base, but what I DO want is good obstacle avoidance and navigation, I want to feel like I can run it when I'm gone for the day at work and it won't end up getting stuck somewhere in my house that I need to rescue it when I get home (and the house is either not at all or only partially vacuumed).

  • I love my Roborock S7MaxV Ultra!! A year and a half now and still perfect! Only mapped my house 1 time. Keeps all 4 maps of different floors. Never gotten stuck once. I have mostly hardwood floors and 2 throw down area rugs in the bedroom. Knows exactly where it's at and switches maps to correct floor. Cleans under beds and furniture in bedrooms. If u leave a sock or shoe under the bed, it will go right around it and send me a pic of what it is. Was worth every penny!!

  • Thank you for the summary! It would be great if you could also in the future add an option for more specific scenarios since the features robots get these days get more and more different. For example a pick for someone who wants a reasonably cheap robot with an auto-empty bin that does not have any glaring issues, or for those that as you mentioned, don't really care about mopping. Basically, I'm talking about a role that Q7+ was playing previously. I know that there is a Q5 Pro+, but the difference in price from the base Q5 Pro is huge. Would you say that Dreame D10 Plus or D10s Plus is still worth it?

  • I had the t20 for a week and loved the performance only issue i had was it navigated the cleaning route kinda randomly and would miss zones and it would lower the mops right after it exited the dock and run it leading to a wet spot when it was in mop mode or spinning the brushes on a dirty floor which was an issue. It also lowered the mops when backing into the dock big issue because it struggled to dock as a result of this so i returned it. Long comment to say i want to get the roborock revo because it seems comparable to the t20 minus the software and docking issues. Whats your recommendation or should i get the l20 instead though it seems to be more expensive

  • I have two X2’s, each in a different house. I was looking forward to getting them however I have been disappointed. Most of my frustration is with the mapping feature. The cleaning (if you can get a good map) is actually really good! I have a whole inside wall that the vacuum won’t recognize. It does’t like walls, furniture, or doors at an angle other than 90 degrees. It also splits rooms into two sometimes if there is a bed with a bed skirt. It hated my stationary bike so i had to move that. I also had to move stuff stored under my bed. I mapped my main floor at least 25 times before I got something acceptable which was timely and frustrating. I also had no success splitting rooms. I wrote to customer support and at first they said they would address it with firmware. When I got the 2nd X2 (different/smaller house) and had similar issues they told me that both were defective. In my opinion the battery is weak. I can’t vacuum my main floor on high in one segment without it having to charge (vacuum calcs it at 700 sq feet…I think it’s a bit bigger) Two other things on size and weight. The height is actually taller than my T9 Omni. The lid does sometimes come off easily. It accepts 3 maps which is great but moving the vacuum and station will take a few trips up and down the stairs. It does not like think rugs. I have a rug gable and it often lifts the rug as it is trying to go over it. It has gotten stuck on the rug too. I have found my not in odd places just stopped and in standby. Overall I think it’s too buggy and I’m disappointed. Wish I bought the Dreambot.

  • A word of warning on Roomba: we've been through four of them, two i7 and two J7+ and they all failed in about 6-10 months. The problem is their charging contact design because it eventually fails to make full contact which results in the robot no longer recognizing the base, which means the self-emptying and other features no longer work. Roomba is aware of this deficiency and has instructions to periodically clean the contacts with a melamine cloth, but even then the contacts quit functioning and you're left with a brick. When it fails in the first year they're pretty good about sending replacement units, but once that warranty is up they stop talking to you. By comparison, no problems with Ecovacs or Roborock units we have bought instead because they have different charging contact designs that do not wear out. So for us never again Roomba. For the rest of you, beware! BTW, Vacuum Wars has the best reviews by far, so no discredit to them because they don't have the units long enough to see how reliable they are long term.

    • 100 % agree. I have had my roomba i7+ for about two years, it was amazing, but the metal disks to charge are worn down and I cleaned it regularly. Now it will not charge or connect. They do not sell those parts to fix it.

  • I would love a category of "Best for only carpets" or at least a breakdown of the scores by performance category. This is different than the Roomba 692 which seemed to be recommended as best for carpets only . . . and no frills. I'm looking for a vacuum for our second floor that is all carpet and I don't need or want mopping features but still want a full featured robot with a carpet deep cleaning only focus. I already have a Ecovacs OZMO T8 Omni AIVI for my first floor based on reviews from this channel for mixed rug, hard floor cleaning.

At that price I felt it was by the best price to performance of the entire list. Considering the number one pick is more than double cost. Granted the reviews are mixed, at that price I’m willing to give it a go. First thing I noticed was how quiet it is! Wow my old roomba is significantly louder. We have a 1 year old, and our old Roomba was loud enough to avoid using it at night while sleeping. The T20 is so quiet, I have ZERO concerns about it waking our 1 year old.

  • I have had the Ecovacs X2 Omni for a little over a month now. I really wanted a Roborock, but their docking stations were just too large to fit where I wanted to put it in the house. The Ecovacs docking station fits perfectly. My mother also bought the same one a few weeks ago. We frequently give updates to each other on its performance since we have different house layouts and use requirements. Overall, I’ve been pretty happy with it and it was a huge upgrade over my Neato Botvac D7 Connected and Roomba Braava Jet M6. I never realized until now how much nicer it is to have a self emptying and self cleaning bot. Mapping and navigation of my house has been pretty solid, no WiFi issues, but there are some quirks that need improvement, mostly with the app (nonexistent walls that can’t be removed, unable to split certain rooms, etc. ). Areas of critique I have with it are fairly minor and most I think can be addressed by future firmware and app updates. The brush head isn’t as large nor as close to the front as the Neato, but it does do a better job with hair not tangling around the main part of the brush. But it does get quite a bit wrapped around the ends, so make sure you clean it about once a week to remove those off the ends (pretty easy). I have one steep threshold into a bathroom that my Neato never had issues with but the Ecovacs it has been hit or miss getting over it. If it is vacuuming only and hits it straight on, no problem. If it tries to attack it at an angle or is mopping and vacuuming at the same time, it will often slip and struggle to make it over without needing assistance. Also, once in a blue moon it manages to lose its cover. I have yet to discover what it is hitting to dislodge it. The app, while nice and has a lot of capability, still needs some improvements and has some areas where it falls behind how the Roomba and Neato apps work. Some of it may be a learning curve. But I truly believe that it won’t take much in the way of an app update to address my issues and make the app even more useful. This post is already long enough, so I won’t go into the details. I’m curious what your findings are.

      @Sailor_Zeb@Sailor_Zeb5 ай бұрын
    • @@Sailor_Zeb , Roomba and Neato’s apps weren’t without their issues either, there is just some things I feel were easier in their app. For example, my Roomba app would often say my mop bot was offline until I would remove and reinsert the water reservoir. But the Roomba app I liked how it allowed me to setup the room order for a job. Neato’s app would often error anytime I updated the map, saying the change failed but it would actually apply it successfully to the bot. But I liked how it was able to map out the room, actually recording 45° angles properly. I also felt it was easier to measure out size and distance to more accurately place boundaries. The Ecovacs app hasn’t really been “buggy”, per se, mostly just some design quirks. Some of the things I would like to see improved: -Improve mapping to better identify 45° angles. Not all houses have just right angles. Neato’s app did a decent job at this. -ability to divide up rooms more than once. Homes with open floor plans or with large entryways get seen as one room and the app limits how you can divide them. My kitchen, dining room, and living room are all seen as one room. I can divide the space to a living room and kitchen, but can’t divide the kitchen and the dining room. -Remove fake walls from the app. App thinks the space between my bed and dresser is a doorway and created walls in the middle of the room. It doesn’t impact the coverage of the room, just makes the map look weird. -If a room is identified to be completely carpeted, some sections of the app make it hard to select the room, you end up selecting the carpet instead. Doesn’t make much of a difference other than how you prefer to select rooms. -When using whole house AI cleaning mode, you can’t choose the cleaning preferences. So I can’t tell it to vacuum then mop when using this mode. It will do what it thinks is best and vac/mop at the same time. -A larger selection of room names to choose from would be nice. There is no office or entryway to choose and having the map list bathroom 1 and bathroom 2 or bedrooms for that matter is a bit confusing. -I would like to be able to rearrange the order of rooms being tackled in a job instead of having to always select them in the order I want. It doesn’t do a good job at showing what order they were selected. Roomba’s app does a good job at this. -When adding furniture or boundaries to the map, it always drops it in an odd spot (like the far corner) and I have to drag it across the map to where I want.

    • People had the same app problems you just stated, since Ecovacs T8 or whatever was their 1st app model. They never fixed it. Still a buggy unreliable mess that occasionally will lose its map. I have T9 and I will never recommend Ecovacs to anybody. Just buy Roborock / Dreame / Xiaomi.

    • I have two X2’s, each in a different house. I was looking forward to getting them however I do have the exact same problems/complaints as you. Overall I think it’s too buggy and I’m disappointed. Wish I bought the Dreambot.

    • @@houseofwarmth2578 When I first received the X2, I was initially disappointed in its battery life considering how much larger the battery should be over the Neato D7 Connected (4200 mA vs 6400mA). The D7 more often than not would be able to vacuum the whole house on a single charge (sometimes it took more than one if it got stuck somewhere). But they do go back to recharge and I also figured the more tech and a more powerful vacuum in the X2 are the reason for the shorter life (logs calculate between 850-900 sqft of coverage). I am not sure if it was the latest firmware update or the battery just needed some conditioning, but it seems like the more times it has been used the longer the battery is lasting. Most of my scheduled runs now finish using just a single charge. Only when I have it do a whole house vacuum THEN a mop it may need to stop and recharge to finish the house.

After 5 times we just decided to return it. We keep other IOTs in the same network and we didn´t have any issues. The 800 euros robot should handle a network failure (like reboot, reconfigure etc etc) like my 20 euros camera . Please include network performance in your tests 😁.

  • Thanks so much for your excellent reviews. I opted for the Roomba Combo j9+, but I am having to return the second one due to mopping problems. The first had a hardware issue straight out of the box, and the second's mopping is so poor that it just leaves water lines on the floor. The vacuuming function is great, but this model is too expensive to use it purely as a vacuum. Having looked at the rest of the options on the market, and the new models coming out later this year, I've decided to opt for a basic to mid-level robot that focuses on vacuuming. I plan to then move this model upstairs when I feel the vacuum/mop options have improved further. I was thinking of the Roomba j7+ but I worry about the lower suction level on carpet and smaller battery. Can I ask what you would choose for a vacuum-only option, with a self emptying base and has decent obstacle avoidance and mapping?

  • Thanks to your review, I purchased the Costco version of the Ecovacs T20 Omni called TEO. I bought it with a rebate, so it was an excellent deal at $699. I liked it so much that I purchased a second unit for my parents as an early Christmas present. My only concern is the app that I constantly have to reset. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. I had the Roborock S7 prior, and I would say that the app is better and the navigation and speed at which it cleans was better. However, for the money and all the features, it's the T20 for me. • Hey, I was thinking the same thing when I bought the Wyze vacuum three years ago. One of the worst purchases I've made and I've stayed away from Wyze ever since. They reel you in with the price point, marketing, and impressive looking specs and software, but the product is just poorly implemented and supported. It's not worth having a robot vacuum if you have to keep baby sitting it and hoping that it works. You cannot have faith in it's ability to complete a job reliably. It will get stuck, or it will bump into random objects and fail, or it will just give up for no reason. I contacted Wyze and they sent a replacement vacuum, but the BRAND NEW replacement suffers from the SAME issues. I should have spent the extra dough on something much more reliable. Don't make the same mistake as me.

I have roughly 1" floor transitions at my current place and I'm looking to purchase a premium robot vaccum with mopping around Black Friday. I would prefer the Dreame L20 Ultra, but this concern is making me hesitant, and I'm thinking of compromising with the Ecovacs X2 Omni specifically because I've heard its design handles high floor transitions better than most

    @Streicher119@Streicher1195 ай бұрын
    • Can't speak to the X2 Omni, but the Ecovacs we had a couple years ago always got stuck trying to cross a much smaller 1/4" threshold. To their credit Ecovacs refunded our money 11 months after purchase because of this, so as a brand we would definitely try them again. Roomba is great at crossing thresholds, but their contacts always wear out within a year so we will never buy them again. Our older Roborock was great until the laser failed, our current Roborock S7 has been bulletproof and is a keeper. Once it fails, hopefully years down the road, we'll buy whatever is best and on sale at the time.

I THOUGHT I would set up schedules etc.. this may or may not be you but i NEVER used those features. It turned out for me that I would just turn it on and clean about every 2 days'ish manually because.... if you have it on auto clean on a schedule it can definitely be annoying to turn on while you or the spouse is watching TV or talking to friend etc, so we would always just turn it on the day we want it to and let it go... you might want to consider the vacuum WITHOUT the vacuum docking station, if they have the option available for your chosen vacuum. ONE last thing, they are worth their weight in GOLD, so splurge if you can and get a better model if you think its worth it (it is) just imagine having to vacuum your house EVERY 2 days etc.. manually. its a HUGE time saver, probably ther best time saver we have ever purchased next to internet and a computer/car. 15-30 minutes every 2-4 days or....... turn on your Robo Vacuum and let er' eat. Add up that time saved over 3-5 years and see how much money it actually SAVES you.
