    • No concern for himself even. The guy that went to retreive the boar was the same. He knew what it meant to go out there but he took the risk anyways which is why he pumped himself up first and beat his chest like King Kong. He went straight for the meat instead of his comrade. So much is communicated without words. This group of humanoids is operating under the understanding that the individual doesn't matter so long as they can supplement the group as a whole. They were willing to lay down their lives for the betterment of the society. Theses primitaves are capable of being more emotionally intelligent than us at a base level. The foundations of emotions and caring.

  • I gotta tip my hat to Spear in this one because he saved that apeman’s life *and* the kill he obtained for his family in the bargain, even though doing so put his own life in danger. It just goes to show you that even in a world as uncouth and violent as this one, you can expect to find just a little bit of compassion.

      @cj6498@cj64982 жыл бұрын
    • Empathy. The more complex a social animal is, the more developed that trait is, because it favors cooperation. We developed it so much that our own bodies evolved to be able to express a wide range of emotions, and we can even feel empathy towards other species. Think about it. When you feel sad or happy for an animal, you're imagining yourself in their place. That's empathy.

    • It's great. In effect, how many of his actions would have benefited other, relatively docile, hominid species? Even in the latest couple of episodes- what are they doing, beyond getting rid of a thing that would have just kept whittling away at our various tribes/subspecies/kin. It's kind of funny, thinking of Primal like a western, with a wandering hero, saving humanity wherever he goes, but I love it.

  • 3:47 the visual storytelling here is just incredible. You're introduced to the danger of the scene and the stakes. The tribe needs food but going out without cover is obviously a death sentence. Something is in the sky. So at the moment of the brave hunter's seeming defeat the most badass member of the tribe reveals himself to handle shit. He's old as fuck. Old as fucking balls. Which means he obviously has handled crazy shit to live that long. He goes for the goal, the young hunter is a liability, the family needs food. The second his hands touch the food, the baddest motherfucker in the tribe is gone. Now you know what Spear and Fang are up against. Something that'll take out the baddest member of another species without any effort.

To let a creature sit on top of you, because you recognize his ability to sling this stick, and the ability it has to draw the scent of everyone's blood but hers. The trust she exhibits to mimic him (he hits cover, she hits cover), for her own benefit. The confusion she must feel whenever she sees danger, watches the creature she _knows_ is smart enough to recognize it as well, and yet still rushes out to save this food and his food, for no personal benefit to them.

    • They live underground and use the rocks as hatches or hiding places. It's easy to get around because these apes can hide under a rock if a bat gets too close but the issue is that is not possible if you are carrying something like lets say a boar.

  • Although not historically accurate, this series reflects upon how at one time every moment was a fight for survival for humanity. Now people cower in fear at the idea of getting a cold, how far we have come.

    • Pretty sure people feared sickness more often then. Heck people care more about certain injuries than we do now. It was much more closer to death. No getting cozy in bed and microwaving some soup to help recover. If you’re alone your screwed if you live in a tribe you have to count on them. That’s part reason we lived in such huge groups. A caveman could survive a broken leg much easier than a solitary animal.
