At 5:4 15-40 it was clear Ostapenko's point, because the ball on the baseline after her shot and at 5:6 15:30 too it was Ostapenko's winner, because ball again landed on the baseline, but umpires in both instances called those shots as outs. Rules disagree with you and umpires of this match. Ostapenko didn't choke, you disgrace of tennis community, umpires robbed the win from her. Just face the facts. What a crazy match! Just when you think it is over at 5-3 with the serve to end the match , Ons happened. This is high-level tennis right here! Both players were amazing and gave us an outstanding match!

Amanda Coetzer was top 5 and made a few slam SFs. Cara Black was top 30 or so in singles before becoming an incredible doubles player. What Jabeur is doing right now is really impressive, especially for someone from a smaller tennis nation, and groundbreaking for Arabs, but there have been African female players who helped pave the way.

It's a very high risk game, and unlike, say, Sabalenka, she hasn't added a "Plan B". All or nothing.

Actually it was Jabeur who hugged ostapenko and not the other way around then Ostapenko responded. Good for her! Time to grow up. Lets do not forget that Jabeur was given last year the championship of best sportmanship!
It's easy to have good sportsmanship when you win. It's much harder to have it after a tough loss. Ons forced the hug from Penko, but at least good for Penko for playing along.
For years Jabeur is known to be a hugger either she wins or looses whereas Ostapenko is well known to be rude at the net even when she wins! Last year Jabeur won the sportsmanship because other female players had voted for her. I remember her hugging Swiatek (Rome and US Open) and Rybakina in Wimbledon after loosing against them. Today Ostapenko just hugged her back !! If you still think the opposite, good for you!

Uncontrolled power is NOT the power as I said. Even though Ons dropped the first set with a large margin against Ostapenko, I had predicted that she was going to come back along with the determinative set. Ons JABEUR is the winner one in the end of this ardous appearance. Jabeur has definitely demonstrated a more robust, relentless and resilient performance than Ostapenko especially after the first set. Many congratulations to Ons JABEUR!
Despite the fact that Ons was one set down, as I watched these highlights I was still convinced she will come back and win this match. There is a reason she is the 3rd seed. Ons sure knows how to come from behind to turn games around. Knows exactly when and how to turn up the game another gear. Kudos to her.

Man, what a match!
it was painful to see Ostapenko let this go. She missed an open forehand at 30-30, 5-3 up, with Jabeur serving; she smiled, as everything was going on her favor until that point. Jabeur went on to hold and then broke Ostapenko for 5-5. After being up 5-3 in the second, Ostapenko only managed to win 3 more games in the match. Jabeur closed it 10-3. Ostapenko was playing such a clean hitting power tennis that was a beauty to watch... until it wasn't. I was salivating for a Rybakina / Ostapenko match in the quarters, pure fire power... now (if both Jabeur and Rybakina win their next match) I get to see a repetition of the Wimbledon final, not bad either.
