  • The loss today can be explained very simply with one thing: no strength left in the legs. This trickles to slow first step to the ball, slow movement overall, shanking shots all over the place (many unforced errors) because ball is not centered in the middle of the racquet because of being late to the ball, slower first and second serves and no energy all around affecting the mental game also. It’s all related to the legs!!! Those operations and age is really hurting Roger. It’s a miracle he made it to the quarters but he was exposed by a confident strong player.

  • 2.58 The reason why Federer missed the volley at 2-3 behind in the 2nd set tiebreak.... He made a choice to try hit a forehand volley, but the ball was going to his left. Moving towards the left, his right foot slipped on the center line. (Play at 25% speed) Remember, there's chalk there and it's grass. Also, trying to position himself in an open-stance FH volley didn't help. The right foot was planted too far back (towards baseline). Serious loss of balance followed, and he was unable to stabilize with left leg (quads, knee stability). Also, the yells of people just before the volley were probably too much of a disturbance.
