Especially the fight nights that only have 1-2 ranked fights and are filled with matchups between two no-names that are 1 loss away from being cut, or even if they win probably only get 1-2 more fights before they’re also cut. It gets old watching entire fight cards with essentially no stakes.

  • Weasle you're the reason why my knowledge and appreciation of mma has increased so much over the years, I remember discovering your channel back in 2017 and I've been happily subscribed since then. In addition, I've always wanted to learn how to handle myself in case I need to defend myself and/or those who I care about, but your channel has inspired me to take it to the next level and because of that I've been practicing muay thai from 2019-2020 (took a year off due to the pandemic), and then resumed till this day. I will have my first exhibition match this either this weekend or the next one because it's unclear if my opponent will be able to compete this weekend, but the point is that I'm grateful that your channel was a major catalyst to my interest in martial arts. Although you have certain takes that I disagree with, your consistency in producing top quality content is outstanding and I have the upmost respect for you especially because you don't get involved in unnecessary toxicity unlike other channels. @TheWeasleMMA@TheWeasleMMAАй бұрын
    • @@TheWeasleMMA I will make sure to let you know on this comment thread, tbh it's surreal because I never thought that I would ever compete due to a health condition, but yet here we are. Although I'm aware that this is an exhibition bout and we're not supposed to try to knock each other out nor throw elbows, it makes it more interesting to think about my opponent's tendencies and come up with a game plan to execute. I'm an orthodox going up against a south paw who is 6-7 cm taller than me and he has a 5 cm reach advantage over me. I noticed in his last match that he tends to blitz forward starting with his lead right hook followed by body head combos along with body kicks and I'm been visualizing ways of countering him if he tries that against me. Since he has a longer reach than me, it will be more tricky to counter him without getting caught at the end of his punches. Two of the counters which feels the most natural to me are slipping and pivoting clockwise while throwing my left hook as a counter and continuing a striking combo while he's not in the best position defensively and the other is throwing a jab while slipping and pivoting counterclockwise and continuing a combination to accumulate points. Do you think that the 2 mentioned counters would work or if not what would you recommend instead? Love your content👊

  • beautiful wording on the Sanchez thing. Very thoughtful! I do want to say, as much of a deceptive manipulator Fabia appears to be, that doesn't mean the bone-conditioning idea is necessarily a bad one. People have focused a lot on stuff like that, instead of Fabia's actual bad qualities. I keep hearing how he was punching upside-down Diego in the head, but honestly that's not really what we saw. It was actually light knocking and they both said they were doing that with the arms & legs as well. It reminds me of how Muay Thai boxers like to sit there whacking their shins when not in the gym. To condition the bone. It's unconventional in MMA but... maybe not so stupid or crazy like people say. And focusing on stuff like that just makes Sanchez sound stupid more than anything else I think. Otherwise though the way you worded it did give Diego a lot of respect, moreso than I've heard from others regarding this Fabia thing. Really the bad qualities about Fabia have more to do with his manipulative self-interest & also how he gets too confrontational with people who don't respect him. But when people give him a chance to talk and actually listen and engage the convo without an agenda to smear the guy, it actually gets really interesting! Luke Thomas has the discipline to hang in there with someone like that and when they talked Luke began to realize he was shooting himself in the foot trying to make this guy look like a clown. I really wished that interview would have gone on a couple more hours!

  • Actually saw an analysis video stating that the data showed that Hill is much more defensively sound than Perreira. Interesting if you could go deeper into this match up. I still favor Perreira. But I honestly think that Hill's best chance is not wrestling. Hill has never shot a takedown in his career (cmiiw), and Perreira already showed that he can defend against Jan.

  • Hey Weasle, With how bad the fight night cards have been, what do you think would be the optimal calendar/schedule for fight nights & ppvs? I feel like the amount of shows the UFC puts on at this point is what bogs down fight nights, and even some ppvs. But on the other hand, having so many shows allows for more fighters to fight more often (in theory). Thanks for the videos bro.

    @brandonconley7864@brandonconley7864Ай бұрын
    • Maybe 1 fight night and 1 ppv card a month. We have to be honest too, there are a lot of fighters that aren't "UFC caliber," so there is no need for so many cards.

  • Please keep up the Nightmare Matchups video in the format they are now. But may I suggest doing it after UFC 300? I know it's too soon, but we can use 300 as kind of a "season reset" point. It's a nice round number, also some titles will be determined there as well as the contenders in a bunch of other divisions.

    @georgivasilev8428@georgivasilev8428Ай бұрын
  • I very much agree with Dopeslicer on the scoring criteria. We don't need to score defense. We don't need to score position. We only really need to score offense. With the unreliability of judges I think keeping the criteria as simple as possible is the right way to go. Also I think the base purpose of a fight is to finish/quit the other opponent and that's mainly gonna be through damage so I think it tracks on every level. I think getting advantagous positions should only count in tiebreakers, like takedowns. Also if you're winning in the grappling you should be able to inflict offense by striking if you have no path to a sub. Edit: I think boxing is probably the prime example we should use when making the MMA scoring. Boxing scoring is a prime example of what should NEVER happen to MMA scoring. I def don't think we should be scoring octagon control for anything else than tie breakers, at the end of the day, the better striker is the one who successfully hits more/harder.

  • Unfortunately agree when it comes to the fighter pay stuff the fighters are just too selfish and not unified enough to make a change in the sport (anytime soon anyway) so sadly we'll see more and more fighters trying to do "big money fights" and change promotions and chase the money because their pay is just not where it should be in the UFC.

  • When ufc first went to the apex during COVID I thought it was cool because I hear the corners during the fight, but now the novelty has worn out. The crowd brings an excitement that cannot be denied. Whenever there’s like a 5 round. battle or slobber knocker and the fight ends with no crowd I feel cheated. I think the APEX novelty is DONE.

  • Yeah I think they want to extend McG's contract. Also maybe renegotiate the terms so he isn't guaranteed a ppv main event. Chael has suggested they already are trying to give him a co-main & maybe Connor has not agreed for that reason. Since he has the contractual right to hold out for a ppv main event. Citing that normal policy is to have title fights or title eliminators for the ppv mains.
