SteelSeries Arctis 7 vs HyperX Cloud Flight

Check out my comparison of the GSP 500 and Game One - two awesome gaming headsets by Sennheiser that ultimately earned my money over the Cloud Flight and Arctis 7: • GSP 500 vs Game One
I decided to start a channel. Help support me by using my link to buy one of these headsets!
Amazon US:
Arctis 7 (2019): amzn.to/2EdHsKn
Cloud Flight: amzn.to/2Ah4gnM
My current headset, the Sennheiser GameOne: amzn.to/2Vc3Gk3
*UPDATE*
I forgot to include this in the video. The LED on the side of the Cloud Flight doesn't save your preference, meaning if you want to turn it off (for max battery life), you have to toggle it off every time you turn on the headset.
I discuss my experience with the Arctis 7 and the Cloud Flight.
I go category by category and tell you which one I think is best, and point out the flaws in each

  • Thanks so much for the support on this video everyone! I never expected it to get this many views. I've since decided to start a channel that's tech focused, while keeping things practical. Audio and video quality has definitely improved, but that's not saying much compared to this vid haha. Hope you find the video helpful!

  • Thank you very much for the awesome comparison and review! I have been doing research and trying to decide on a wireless headset for about a month now. After looking at over 30 options, these 2 are the one's I narrowed it down to for my price point. I have been using a wired headset for about 3 to 4 years and after my wife and I have yanked it enough times, one side no longer works so I am done with wired. You would think that with the technology of today, there would be a ton a high quality, comfortable fit, and fully featured options around the $150 mark but as it turns out, many are cheap and overpriced and honestly don't offer much more than what the $30 wired options provided. Without paying $300+, these truly are the 2 best wireless options from what I have researched and all I was missing was a nice video comparison to truly make my decision on and you provided it! Thanks again!

  • Good Video Spencer! FYI - The small usb-dongle cable on "Arctis 7" adds an extra Wireless Antenna with a big wireless walking-around range of 125 feet (38 meters) ... "Flight Cloud" usb-flat-plug range is only 65 feet (19 meters). It has no added antenna cable going to the dongle. Of course open line-of-sight and walls effect distance. (Below, Erick Leon has a good tip to place Flight Cloud plug as high as you can.) ... Another Arctis 7 benefit is input/output plugs on the dongle for easy audio switching to external speakers for music and videos.

  • Thanks for the review. One thing i will say about the reviews i've seen on the Arctis 7 headphones. Everyone says that you can't adjust the band but, the band is held on by velcro, which you can easily take off and adjust if need be. May not be a large adjustment but, you can give yourself a little room. Overall, this is not a bad review.

    @HD-mm1iz@HD-mm1iz5 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks man! Yeah I know you can do that and adjust it slightly, it's just such a small difference I didn't think it really counted. Like it's not what you would typically think of as an adjustment ya know? So if someone new is looking at the headset I don't want them to think they can do a big adjustment

  • Hey Spencer. I've been using Senn HD 558's for 2 years. I've been looking for a pair of wireless that might compete on sound-quality and thought maybe finally the cloud-flights might be the ones. Are they really that much worse? I'll probably still pick up a pair and give'm a whirl but your closing statement doesn't have me very positive. I'm mainly looking for positional audio for games like csgo.

    @Cheesyfry@Cheesyfry5 жыл бұрын
    • They do fine, but I think my thing was more I had never tried open back headphones til the GameOne and GSP 500 so it blew my mind how good they were. The Flight's are still good, just not as good and the wireless wasn't worth the downgrade in sound imo. But hey, sound is super subjective, so if I were you, and you really want wireless, I'd buy a pair knowing you can return them if they don't fit what you're looking for :)

  • So the Steelseries is for those who do JUST gaming, right? Is what you're saying? That's pretty much what I want a headset for is strictly gaming. Not to take outdoors, or listen to music with, maybe listen to music a little while I play like black metal music for RPG like Skyrim and Dungeons and Dragons type games, but I think I'll be doing more gaming than music play. I was thinking of getting the steel series. I have Monster in-ear earphones and Bose Noise Cancelling QC35II headsets. I just want something for strictly gaming and with surround sound.

  • Hi, great video, very helpful! I've been looking into a buying a new headset and have been watching your videos a lot. I wanted to ask your opinion on some of the headsets that I've been looking into. Basically, I want a headset that is good sound quality, primarily with tracking footsteps/enemy locations (mainly for Fortnite, but also other games). I've come down to a few options. The first being the Logitech g633 (now at around $100), the Hyper X Cloud II (not sure whether to go with the Cloud Alpha Pro or Cloud II), and finally possibly an Astro headset. I also looked into the Steelseries, but after watching a review on another channel thought it might not be a great fit. My price range is around $100, I'd possibly spend up to $150, but would prefer to spend less. Thanks!

    @kamranbina4396@kamranbina43966 жыл бұрын
    • Kamran Bina the only one I can speak to is the Hyper X Cloud II. I had one for 4 years until it broke (read - I raged and broke it lol), but all my friends who have a Hyper X headset love them. In your price range, I have no problem recommending anything Hyper X. A word of advice though, see if it has simulated 7.1 surround or not. Some people love the simulated 7.1, others hate it. Just something to be aware of Two other options, the Corsair Void Pro I've heard good things about. It wasn't for me but it's under 100 and wireless, I also have a few friends that really like it. My personal recommendation would be the Sennheiser Game One. It's gonna be about $150 but man, is it worth it. Can't beat it for the money! It's an open back though, so look into that and see if it suits your needs. Koss also makes an open back gaming headset that's $80 if I remember correctly. I haven't used it, but BadSeed Tech did a review and spoke highly of it Hope this helps!

  • I bought the Arctis 7 and absolutely love it. Mic picks me up even when stowed. Sound is great. Very comfortable at first. However, maybe my ears stick off the side of my head more than some so if yours are very close, might not be an issue but after a while, started to hurt my ears. Funny that I started writing this as soon as the video started and he mentioned the same issue as I was typing it. None of the reviews I had seen mentioned this. Weren't many for the 7 anyway, most are for Arctis 5. But overall, happy with the headset. But it's honestly better just to get some high quality headphones and a separate mic.

Can you listen music really loud with the flights? And please help me decide. I have a semi big head and ears so comfort may come a problem with the arctis.

    @don9889@don98895 жыл бұрын

    • Both are a steal at that price. I like the sound of the hyper X personally, but the lower price and feature set of the Artis 7 would make me lean that way. So Arctis 7 is what I think I'd do, but both are a good buy

      @SpencerDean14@SpencerDean145 жыл бұрын
  • Why did they place that small mute button on the top left in "Arctis 7"? Same time the "Siberia 800" (older model) has this bigger button on the right, that works as mute and power button. I've never missed the mute button with my thumb because it has this edge and the button is kinda inside the headset.

    @casputin1@casputin16 жыл бұрын
    • Does that really count though? I did try playing with that, but the adjustment was negligible (thats why I didn't mention it). If you have the headset and like it though awesome, its popular for a reason. I just have a small head which makes headsets tricky, especially with that design

      @SpencerDean14@SpencerDean146 жыл бұрын

    @GamerJW235@GamerJW2355 жыл бұрын
    • Something to keep in mind - Sony compresses the hell out of their chat for PS4. Idc if you keep the Flights or not ya know, just don't want you to return em if you're digging em minus the mic quality. Maybe let one of your friends borrow it so you can hear how the mic sounds or something? At the end of the day, PS4 chat is compressed so much that mic quality would be my last concern (I game on PC so I can't speak to a specific mic that sounds good on PS4, I just know most of them don't sound great due to the compression)
