How difficult is it to learn a darkslide? It’s one of the most stylish kiteboarding tricks, but learning how to do a darkslide isn't easy - and usually involves a lot of face plants. Our group of kite friends spent a two sessions in Hatteras attempting to learn darkslides - check out the video to see how we did…

  • So nice to see you guys having so much fun learning together, so different from the seriousness and narcisism we see too often in "cool" or "extreme" sports. Cheers!

  • A couple of folk are trying to drag the front of the board, not the back. I got mentally stuck on that too. I named this variation on the trick "The Daftslide"

  • Was in the OBX at the same time as you guys. Was hoping to bump into ya. Oh well. Dark slides are sweet and they unlock a bunch more tricks ones ya get the kite movement down.

  • Thank you, great content! Now I know what to expect when trying first time 😂😂 but what I recognized is, most of you had both hands on the bar, tending to oversteer. Maybe results get better with the back hand at the middle of bar and the front hand holding the tip of the board up. I know it’s said easy when not experienced in darkslides. 😉 But it looked like you had a lot of fun and progress 👍🏽👍🏽

  • Watched your downloaded Noobs video on flight today from Dakhla to Casablanca - it was very entertaining - great commentary from the team. I loved your green rock island base hangout as well. Can’t wait to try but I think I need more room for errors- were some of the spots not a bit tight ? 😊 Thanks!

    @dougdemonde@dougdemonde2 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 😊 ya - it was sort of tight going into the flat water spot in front of the pier - not a ton of room for error. It looks closer than it was on camera, and thankfully no people or kites crashed into it!

  • Hi i was wondering if you could give some advice. I recently bought a 11.5m 2011 (i think) best kahoona kite And a 2012 9m fone most wanted bandit both with bars and lines. The kites themselves look structurally sound but im concerned about breaking lines or the chicken loop not working 'under preasure' they both work when tested. Should i replace them? And if so with what? Can i simply get new lines? Do i need to check anything else? Not a lot of people kite around me and the nearest kite shop is about 100miles away.

    • It’s hard for us to say without seeing the kites in person. The best thing to do would be to have more experienced kiters take a look if possible
