Oliver North - Memo To History (1987) | Iran Contra Hearings Documentary

Oliver Laurence North (born October 7, 1943) is an American political commentator, television host, military historian, author, and retired United States Marine Corps lieutenant colonel. He was convicted in the Iran-Contra affair of the late 1980s, but his convictions were vacated and reversed, and all charges against him dismissed in 1991.
North is primarily remembered for his term as a National Security Council staff member during the Iran-Contra affair, a political scandal of the late 1980s. The scandal involved the illegal sale of weapons to Iran to encourage the release of U.S. hostages then held in Lebanon. North formulated the second part of the plan, which was to divert proceeds from the arms sales to support the Contra rebel groups in Nicaragua, which had been specifically prohibited under the Boland Amendment. North was granted limited immunity from prosecution in exchange for testifying before Congress about the scheme. - Wikipedia

  • In a nutshell The Oliver North scandal, also known as the Iran-Contra affair, was a political scandal that unfolded in the United States during the 1980s. Oliver North, a United States Marine Corps officer, was a key figure in the scandal. In the mid-1980s, during the Reagan administration, a covert operation was carried out to sell arms to Iran, despite an arms embargo in place. The aim was to gain leverage to secure the release of American hostages held by Hezbollah in Lebanon. The profits from these arms sales were then diverted to support the Contras, a rebel group fighting the socialist Sandinista government in Nicaragua, even though there was a congressional ban on providing aid to the Contras. The scandal came to light in 1986 when a plane, carrying weapons for the Contras, was shot down inside Nicaragua. This event exposed the secret arms sales and the diversion of funds, leading to a public outcry. Congressional hearings were held, revealing the involvement of high-ranking officials, including Oliver North, who was a member of the National Security Council. Oliver North became a central figure due to his role in coordinating and overseeing the operation. He testified before Congress, admitting his involvement but claiming it was necessary for national security. North was later indicted on charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstructing Congress, and accepting an illegal gratuity. However, those convictions were ultimately overturned on appeal due to immunity granted for his testimony. The Iran-Contra affair had significant political repercussions, tarnishing the Reagan administration and raising questions about the legality of U.S. foreign policy actions. It also led to a reevaluation of the balance of power between the executive branch and Congress in matters of national security.

Ronnie had nothing really to do with this Criminals In Action scheme. Funny thing is a cokehead from Arkansas who became POTUS 42 was recruited for this shady deal because of his love of snorting blow off of the cleavages of women with legal or financial problems in the Little Rock area. Information heard in the first person from a former Democrat governor of Georgia and several other members of a party I wholly despise.

The LA newspaper stumbled go g up on a big government scheme, and people had to die to maintain the secret. But only the US government could have created and disseminated a drug like crack cocaine to black and brown communities throughout this country in the manner it did and as fast as it did. Essentially the US government robbed young people of color of their livelihoods, voting rights, families, as well as their freedom and future. There are millions of people still trying to put their lives back together. And the gun violence is just another by-product of the crack culture.

    • This is US Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Oliver North. He is a Vietnam war veteran and worked for President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush Sr. on the National Security Council in the 1980s. The National Security Council is one of the most secretive US government organizations that advises the President on national security and military affairs . Its a small group of people, generals directors of the CIA, etc that meet with the President and Vice President to do clandestine secretive work in the US and all over the world. Oliver North was the commander of the Operational Sub Groups or "OSG" that did illegal cocaine production and smuggling in Central America, arming the anti communist "Contra" rebels in Honduras, selling arms to Iran. This is him testifying in Congress after these illegal operations were discovered by a newspaper reporter named Gary Webb in the 1980s. Oliver North is basically lying his ass off here for 2 hours misleading Congress and the public. By the way Gary Webb was found dead in a hotel with two gun shot wounds to the head. The police called it a suicide . I dont believe that

He told on them and how they plotted to destroy black neighborhoods and they did but it ended up backfiring because you know what a lot of other kids other than black were or fell victim to the drug epidemics it wasn't until white kids were hooked on drugs. Kensington PA, Seattle I can go on and on. The face of drugs are no longer just black. You know what white folks in Kensington PA and certain parts in Philadelphia or doing drugs right in front of the cops and nothing is being done about it but when blackheads and black people were on drugs they were stopping and arresting them frisking them. Now they only stopped black people to see if they can get drugs off of me because you know what I believe a lot of them are on drugs. Are they required to take drug test like surprise drug test like bus drivers like truck drivers?

We were fighting communism. The Dems in DC didn't think we should be meddling in other countries and voted no to this much needed funding. I was a secretary who copied all the cables stating Sandanista atrocities and typed up many things to try to get support including publications we'd send to congress. I would read the Pentagon's daily foreign broadcasts and media stories to compose a one-page summary every morning that was distributed thru the dept and to WH speechwriters. I often answered the phone and there would be "Ollie". The office was put under the under-secy of Inter-American Affairs, Elliott Abrams. Sandinistas are bad and the dictator is still in charge there. Thanks to the Democrats who don't like to meddle??????

Barry Seal is the real victim // that should NOT be forgotten Nor 4 given May bee a Minute Man will Tell Time 4 Oliver and a North of the Lights type by using that WMD known as the Hoax God Bless the Minute Men that do endure and risk their lives to Purge them that would defy Article 1 S 8 P1 during war time, as per President Andrew Jackson. thanks for the upload i actually jogged for 40 minutes to sell that Crazy way out of WHY would U wanrt to do that ? i was bored being a paper pushed and wanted some Conspiracy and Public Trials and Hearings Consumption had Taken Place at Wendy's (or at least at Dave's) ass 4 oliver he is anti NRA now go figure
