I lost my dad 2007 and I inherited his car .... This was the song that was playing when I drove it home . It will always mean so much more to me ❤
Sorry for loss of your father but you inherited a great song, and hopefully many more from this amazing era. Take care ❤
I’m so sorry that you lost your father ❤️🩹 This song is one of my father’s favorite songs also, we actually engraved his stone with “Always the sun” and also played it in his funeral and in my wedding in honor of him. Our father’s has great taste in music. Lots of hugs to you ❤️
I am sorry that you lost your father. This is a great song. It is a pity that the Stranglers had their bust up when they were making their best songs !
I’ve lots of songs that remind me of dad. They all make me smile. Hopefully this one makes you smile ❤
God bless 🧡💐💐
one of the best things about 50 years old,is the fact that i lived my teenage years in the 80's that is priceless and i am grateful !!!
I'm with you there mate I'm 45 now and the 80s were the best bu far the world and people were so different it's sad seeing the changes but at least there's always the Sun all the best mate
Wished I could go back and stay there forever so miss the 80s
Knocks spots of the shit we are living in these days
There were so many great bands about in the late 70s early 80s. This is my favourite stranglers era and this song will always bring a smile to my face. On cold January and February nights just play this and you'll know spring is around the corner.
Agreed
God bless you, Jet Black. We will miss you.
Génial
Just turned 58, and I am increasingly seeking out these 80's gems. Oh, for a time machine! So glad I grew up during the 80's.
So right my friend the 80s were brilliant
It's all here in KZhead, just keep searching
I listened to them in the seventies. They matured from an angry new wave band into the band that played Golden Brown/always the sun, etc.My favourite band from the punk/ new wave era.
Just a brilliant band sadly only JJ and Chris from the original brand left hopefully they could get back together and produce some more magic
I was born in 1965 too. We’ve grown up in the best of times, musically, my friend.
R:I:P Jet, there will always be the Sun. Sleep well,

Would you tell me the same kind words in a few months when I will be in the foreversun?
He almost got to the sun. ❤
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard... I'm in tears... There's always the Sun...
I'd go back to the 80's in a heart beat and stay there.
Couldn't agree more...I was 17 in 1982 just finishing school then 6th form college back in Manchester went to Xaverian VI form in Rusholme...funny but even then i knew I never wanted to grow up....my mother in law said I never did !!
pick me up on the way will ya 😉

The greatest power of the brain is memory, the down side is reminding you of the past!
There must be millions in the queue waiting to go back sadly we can't but we can listen to the majic of the 80s
There aren’t many upsides to being old, but being in high school when The Stranglers was at their peak is one of them.
I just heard that they are playing in my town next year in April.
You were in high school for 13 years?

So true. I think I read on a CD jacket that the French voted this as the best song ever.

FAN BLOODY TASTIC song!! Don’t think I appreciated it when it was released but I certainly do now. I friggin love it. !!!
2024 and still a top tune from yesteryear.😊
Yes we always need the sun, without it there would be no life. When the sun shines on the world the world for a moment becomes a happier place, it brings warmth and comfort to those who might be feeling sad, hurt and lonely.
But the sun shines on the world constantly - no matter what, there is always the Sun... could be behind the clouds or on the other side of the planet or outside the room you are locked in, but still there.
R.I.P. David Paul Greenfield. ❤️ (29/03/49-03/05/20)

One of those absolutely perfect pop songs. I loved them in their day and still listen to them all the time. RIP Mr Greenfield. We miss you.
And now J.B. RIP also.
Yes it is perfect. How on Earth it only got to number 30 in the UK chart when cr*p like the Chicken Song got to number 1 is beyond me. People have no taste.

The 80s. When life was a lot easier!
My cool musician/computer scientist husband introduced me to this song; he loved it, played it. He departed from this life a year ago. I am spending tonight, Saturday, listening to it over and over again. I feel that my soul reaches where they are with the sun !☀️ What a beautiful evocative work! Thank you 🙏🏻

if you like this song, it says absolutely nothing about your age - it says a lot about your musical taste. enjoy everyone!
It's a quite brilliant song....as close to perfection as a pop song gets.
Perhaps their most world-weary song. Which Sun were they referring to the celestial body that gives us heat and light or (sarcastically) the newspaper,or rather, this being the 80s,comic?
Correct a was born in a leap year still love that song
RIP David Greenfield, very sad news, amazing musician. My favourite Stranglers track ❤️

People come into our lives and people go, sometimes forever. But in our memories it is like they still exist, they shine. And sometimes they shape us into who we are.

The end of the video is symbolic and beautiful... they are walking out from the dark straight to the light. There is always the sun, never be afraid and always find the light in your heart!
Please catch the message of this song: there may be any kind of tragedy in your life, you just have to stand with it. Don't worry for it, you just have to know there'll always be the sun. God I only wish I knew this song before😶
The Sun is a 4d quantum energy portal. It's where you go when you die..... heaven is in the infinite energy of the quantum realm. This is something the Ancient Egyptians knew and even Jesus alludes to.
@@jamesedgewood4643 Wrong. You go in the ground or up the flue. That's where it ends, in the Big Sleep. So enjoy what you can of it. And keep thinking happy thoughts.
The Stranglers have a unique ability to capture words and sentiments like petals from a flower. Very impressive.

The Stranglers were so criminally underrated, but all of their hits are timeless & still sound crisp, tight, fresh & are still fascinating to me.
Right? They're barely even played on the radio and they're never in movies or TV. Thank God my Da is a fan or I'd never have known how great they were.
They were actually very successful - unless you judge "success" by American chart standings.
Save me, Who cares?... we liked them..that's all you need...and I miss Rugely?

Amazing song, so much phenomenal music created from our little island in the 80s. So proud, when we were allowed to be at least
Yo, Agree with you there mate. And that from an Irish man. Mr Boyle had it right when he showcased Brit music in the fab finale of the 2012 Olympics. This music will be remembered 500 years from now and beyond..if we are still around. It was a renaissance...music of a free people. I saw the Stranglers in The Red Lion on Putney High St in 1976 when they played "Dagenam Dave" for the first time. Who would have 'thunk' so many years later that they would become so much a part of my "old man" (I'm now 60) life. What a great song. I love the opening lines. I was for many years a bass player in a rock n roll band; much influenced by the 'growling;' sounds of jj.
