    • There were so many great bands about in the late 70s early 80s. This is my favourite stranglers era and this song will always bring a smile to my face. On cold January and February nights just play this and you'll know spring is around the corner.

This music will be remembered 500 years from now and beyond..if we are still around. It was a renaissance...music of a free people. As for this song, I love it as a "fuck it all" song after a hard year before I head off to Spain ...when you take your power back.

    • Yes, spot on. I had a friend who was a busker and called Joe who played this beautifully and has now gone back to his country of origin - Portugal. I wish I had a photo of him. I gave him money and cried at the beauty of his guitar playing. He was so amazing. I did at least tell him that he was fantastic and that he. had made me happy for two years

  • Well I'm 59 now (dear Lord how time flies) and am so pleased I was around and really enjoyed these guys, not to mention all the other ground breaking musical stuff emerging then ... sigh. Going to be 60 in July ... feeling very old looking back at these videos but I have great memories of being really young and free back then.

    • @@silviofelix1991 I guess so. I went to see them at Rock City at Nottingham in the 80s. I was with a friend who had been in the punk band The Fall. At their fab concert, they celebrated their rebellious streak in their punk songs, but now and then we heard a ballad. RIP Dave Greenfield, an absolute fab pianist.

  • I saw the Stranglers in The Red Lion on Putney High St in 1976 when they played "Dagenam Dave" for the first time. Who would have 'thunk' so many years later that they would become so much a part of my "old man" (I'm now 60) life. What a great song. I love the opening lines. I was for many years a bass player in a rock n roll band; much influenced by the 'growling;' sounds of jj.
