The male budgie my family had years ago would show plenty of excitement every time he'd see a piece of fruit/vegetable or even egg yolk in my hands, heading for his cage! Before eating, he would chirp loudly, moving his head up and down, then approach the piece of food and gently touch it with his foot and beak, while leaning closer and murmuring softly to it. It was like he was making a love confesssion to his treats before eating them, lol! I miss him so, watching him being like this would cheer up even the worst days... He had such a character!

I tried feeding one of my budgies an apple... she used it as a perch...
Lol

Lol. That’s so funny
Just try everyday a few veggies and fruits to know what your bird likes
Lol😂
Budgies = happiness ❤️🙏
10-30% seeds 50-70% pellets (i recommend tops, zupreem, or roudybush) 10-20% vegetables and occasional fruits (just because fruits are high in sugar) bgut introducing budgies to new diets is very hard so do lots of research and be patient
Zupreem pellets have soy, corn, artificial color, sugar, and vegetable oil. It's like junk food to birds. I recommend Top's pellets. It's cold pressed, does not have corn, soy, sugars, and random ingredients.
my birds taught each other, since they came from differnt backrounds, my yellow (Banana) one taught the one from Petsmart how to eat veggies, and I blend pellets with seed and veggies on the side, my babies are super healthy
My bird eats Harrison’s pellets
My parakeets is my children however one of them is pregnant now. Does that make me a grandma? I'm too scared to be in that position at my age of 10.
only if you were a parakeet
Eve Hopskin 😂😂 that's sweet in is own way
yes grandma. rad up on your bird hatching her eggs, I just went thru it and it is amazing ! they are 3 months old now and I love to watch them. Having babies at such a young age is just for the birds , Not you. You have school and college work to finish first. Enjoy your babies GRANDMA kzhead.info/sun/npGhaLiQaoaQaKs/bejne.html
Eve Hopskin I'm 10 years old too and I have a male parakeet
I’m close to your age, a bit older, and I’m trying to convince my mum to get a budgie
My last budgie lived for 14 years 4 months. She lived on a seed and grain mix, millet and honey sticks. They are native to Australia and are ground feeding seed eaters. It was a beautiful sight to see large flocks of budgies in the wild, although they are considered by some to be pests.
Mines never eat the fruit or veggies they just look at it and fly away
What seed/grains did you feed it? And what honey stick I’ve never even heard of that lol
@@amandakay789 I buy Kaytee honey flavoured treat sticks. I usually use Kaytee gourmet recipe seeds. I also feed Moore's millet seeds. I live in Canada.
@@jocelynkelland287 ok but I can't seem to feed my parakeet anything else but sun flower seeds AND just sun flower seeds he doesn't even eat any other seed i think it's because the shop we got him from would treat all the animals very poorly they put like 10 rabbits in 1 small cage so I think they only feed the birds sunflower seeds not only did they sale only sunflowers seeds but yeah can you help me change his diet?
@@sherazali3751 I'm not an expert, but I think if you offer a variety of seeds at the same time but not in the same cup. I hang millet in one part of the cage and a honey sick on another wall plus the regular food in his cup. It not only adds a variety of food but gives the bird something to think about. You can also stop feeding for a couple of hours then try feeding from your hand. This works particularly well for male birds I've had. I hope this helps 🙂
I've just got two 15 week old baby budgies I love them to bits, they are my life, a boy an a girl , everyday I live for them
Thats so good
wow..ive been making so many mistakes. like feeding my budgies seed only, I thought it’d be fine. definitely feeding it more things from now on!
please try convert your bird to pellets
Tilly Cox-Thompson this was a while back..I’ve decided to ditch the commercial seed food since then and I feed them the chop for parakeets that bird tricks came up with! I also mix commercial pellets in with that. Zupreem seems to be the best brand.
this guy in the video is making a lot of mistakes as well
Good luck trying to make them eat it

Kirsch Kern, mistakes happen and if you get a bird again youll know more 😁
Yes, I can understand. Now if you have enough time then you can start it over once again. I Started once again after a lapse of 20 years, during this lock down, the best way to remove your stress and forget everything and give time to these Buddies.
I put my budgie on tank cause I thought my bird will be a fish too after that I realease her to wild🤦♂️
@@floydninosimblante4688 u just set a bird to be killed ... it would have been nice if you have given it to someone who would love to take care of the budgie.
Its really weird to see a bird eating a egg...even tho they come to life in a egg edit : guys, this comment is 3 years old now. No need to prove how budgies can eat other species' eggs, lmao. I was around 12 at that time too.
it's like eating a child
I srsly love irony!
I donno I eat meat and I also come from meat and I'm fine with that. The egg isn't even from their breed.
It’s complicated
I mean, you also came from an egg
So my budgies don’t drink water they just like to poop in it
If a budgie doesnt trust you they wont drink water if you are around
Omg my sister birds do that lmao 😂
Put ur water somewhere higher where ur budgie can drink but cant poop in it
Same lol
Same with my budgie
Budgies are a great pet for all ages very friendly and beautiful in colours
Like every other video, very informative but including your adorable ones kept everyone captivated! Keep up the good work.

i’m super proud of my parakeets because they finally tried a second fruit and they loved it (it was an apple)
Congrats
I haven’t got a bird but my favorite thing to make is noodles with egg and butter is it okay to feed a budgie a small bit of it as a rare snack?
My parakeet is literally terrified of every fruit/vegetable I give him access to :I HELP
Christina Knight mine have never eaten anything but seed and millet...
I gave them a grape and my budgie thew a mini tantrum
Maybe cut them up into smaller pieces and mix with seeds/pellets
I give them fruit with seed on them, they eat the seed and accidentally taste a little bit of the fruit, then they love it.

My budgie who died a few days ago would always try to eat the foods I eat If I had a cookie he would fly to my shoulder and try to eat if I had a crossient or buns literally everything :( I miss him soo much
Thank you for this, I was confused about this I’m picking up my bird tomorrow! You really helped with all my budgie questions!..
What this is saying is all incorrect. They should be eating 50%-70% pellets and 20% seeds and sould always be given fruit and vegatable s
Fascinating, helpful and interesting video. Thank you. Who'd have thought budgies like to eat fruit and vegetables. So much to take in and learn. I get mine tomorrow morning. Not had one since a young lad so really looking forward to it. Quite daunting at the same time. :)
I know you think of budgies as being like outside birds that only eat seeds. Not like other parts who might eat off your plate.
Thank you so much for making this video! This was very helpful to me considering i have my own little budgie
My budgies were not eating banana. So I dipped their banana in their trio mixed seeds and they liked it. By this way I comforted them having banana. Now they have banana without dipping them in their seeds!
@BrianTheGaemr Thank you! Try to feed them varieties of fruits and veggies. If they don't like it bare, then try dipping the fruits or veggies in trio mixed seed!
@BrianTheGaemr welcome 🤗
Tq for your trick
😂I really thought it was bad feeding cheese to my parakeets... but mostly I give them their most favorite fruit and vegetables
Eeeyyy my favourite channel on youtube posted again!
I made my budgies listen to your budgies sounds and your intro came on and they got startled 😂
Could you also make a video on your personal daily diet, like what you feed your birds in a day?
Yes please
They are called Budgerigar, native to Australia. Thanks for the tips.
I don't get why 750 people dislike these videos. What the hell do they find wrong in these videos? These videos are the best and very helpful
They arent actually good info first of no millet in the cage, pellets should be base food (cold pressed) seeds only in foraging toys fruits at a max 3 times per week and a veggie chop with each veggie benefiting a specific part of the birds body for them to get proper nutrients.
Thanks for all this help!😁
Very good video Alen your budgies are so cute , I will take this advice of the feeding of the budgies

My late grandfather had a little budgie 1977-2003,the budgie was about a year old when he was given to him, making the budgie over 26 years old
Grant Rennie seems a little fake since budgies only live up to around 17 years
drshuwho The oldest budgie was 73, so a 27 year old budgie isn’t too exaggerated.

Best budgie set up ever!!! I cant find the cage and set up like this. Will try my best and follow your instruction. Thank you.
what do you mean the setup sucks the cages are not good, the millet in the cage, the dowel and plastic perches and mirrors..
hi , I love your channel, I have just bought two budgies and I was wondering how to sort out out the dead seed from the good, every morning I check their pots and there's always seed husks on top of unused seed, I tried skimming it off but it doesn't work so I'm throwing a lot of food away, any ideas would be great, many thanks, Lynne.
I bought my budgie from a breeder yesterday , he told me that she doesn’t need to eat anything other than seeds, after watching this my heart broke! I’m going to start teaching her how to eat fruits and veggies, she’s already eating oranges and apples. Wish me luck!
Yayyy
If your budgie will start eating other things, you won't go back to that shop to buy food, making a loss for them, hence they bluff/scare you to not feed them anything
You certainly bought them from someone who doesn't know shit about birds. Next time, I say adopt. How's your budgie now tho?
They will do anything for 💰
Agree.... The person i have taken the budgies he also suggested not give anything other than seeds that I bought from his shop... Only Fenugreek green leaves can be given... Other foods may sound good but later on they may create health issues .....so i stopped other things
what and how to feed your budgie - brilliant! thank you :)
Great video! Your budgie is so cute❤️👍

My budgie will not eat anything other than seats millet and sometimes freeze dried fruit please help I’ve tried feeding it apples blueberries papaya strawberries hard boil eggs but I will not eat it also my female bird just laid a fertile egg any tips could help
My budgies will only eat apples tried every trick I saw with other veggies and fruits (dipping them in seeds, cutting small pieces and mixing them into seed-pellet mix, cutting into different shapes, taking the seed-pellet mix out and just leaving fresh food, eating in front of them, etc)

It was a very nice video keep doing this job
My mother and I grew strawberries in our garden. I gave to them, Well they eat strawberry.
1:39 cabinalisam
Actually no, because that is chicken eggs, not budgie eggs, plus birds eat other birds, same as humans eat other mammals
BlueDiamond Well, I see your idea there but modern laws would rather bury your body and take up land. Eating them when they are dead wouldn't be the best idea, who would eat their loved ones? Even a person that didnr know them. Cannibalism wold have worked 1000 years ago, but now we have better food then a dead person, and as I said they make laws against it. I see your idea though.
BlueDiamond people are a lot of calories, so a lot of living people would become an unhealthy weight, so I don’t think that’s a very good idea but I see how you got it.
umm no not at all please think and use your bee brain

Hi Alex, how do you record these videos. I meant did you use GoPro action cameras or any other mobile camera or video camera. It's clear and much detailed clarity. Appreciate your response.
Nice video, thank you for sharing ❤
What this is saying is incorrect
Just one tip, mirros AREN'T good for birds, but overall, this is a great video.
Potato Chip, they think that the mirror reflection is another bird and try to bond with it, trying to feed it and so on, imagine you in a enclosed area with a mirror, not knowing what it is, and thinking your reflection is another person.
Mirrors are good for birds because it helps promote the idea of a flock. It is not a bad thing for them to think there are other birds, that's the point. Most birds (including budgies) are flock animals and mirrors in their cage help promote the idea of a larger flock. They dont try to feed the other budgie, they just interact with the mirror.
They're okay for a little bit. Mirrors also substitute other birds and if you have a mirror up for a little bit, it gives you time to get another bird for them.
@@Scott_From_Canada non true thing, They can be stressed. And they try to feed it, that's bad. They need real mate. Budgies live in flocks, that's why never buy one budgie
They can be good, but you should never keep one in its cage at all times. Maybe once a week, then trade it out for another toy. That's what I do, and my budgies see it as like a playdate with a friend!
Iv been feeding seeds for a LONG time

Love that- I really hope my budgies don’t do that because they’re rescues and they were mistreated and fed only seeds. I’m trying to be slow with it but I’m just worried
Thanks for this informative information
my budgie is scared of new food. She always fly's away. help?
Deciduous Frost maybe if you start out with a little bit and give it a little more each day.
Deciduous Frost You can hang greens in his cage like toys to gain interest. Try giving foods of different tastes and colours, and chop and blend them to gain interest. Even try cooking the veggies. Sometimes your budgie seeing you eat these foods alows him to trust them.
Deciduous Frost if it's really big foods try cutting them up and hand feeding them
First, make sure your feathery friend is NOT afraid of the hand that brings new food to her! :) Then, try and mix some pieces (cut in small pieces for a small customer ^^) with the regular food. Or try and have some (solid enough) big pieces of fruit/veg threaded with a couple of colourful yarn, so that you can hang it from the top of the cage as a toy ( tying also a small bell recommended!). Any mix and match of colours, shapes and textures will surely draw her attention! :)
Mine were too, at the minute, Iv'e got them eating millet (which they are ADDICTED to, it also gives them something to do), broccoli, seed mix and I'm now trying them with grape which they like the flavor but not the texture. try broccoli first, for some reason they were both instantly hooked.
