"Acting is like sculpture, it's what you take away from yourself to reveal the truth of what you're doing that makes a performance" - Orson Welles
I wanted to continue our cinema projects, now concentrating on "acting".
If any of your favourite actors (or movies) have not made it into this under 3 minute video, then I am sorry - what I have included here is scenes that have resonated with me over the years. Movies are provided in the video as TONS of you ask in the comments. Here's hoping this will clear up all the confusion.
Wonderful monologues from the great Orson Welles and Elia Kazan.

  • This is why many actors and actresses have depression, they become a completely different person when acting and it takes away a part of themselves. People don't know how hard it is until they've tried it.

  • I love acting. It's small and doesn't really get shown to anyone when I do it, but it matters so much to me. The ability to become someone I'm not, or someone I struggle so much to be. The freedom of anything. I want to play the perfect hero who gets everything he wants, as it's what I dream to be. I want to play someone angry at the world, as I want to shout at it for all the horrible things that happen in it. I want to play the darkest villian so I can unleash my anger without consequences or without judgement. I'm only playing a fool and the audience is me. All of those things are in me, it's just about trying to find the best one but I so often don't. It's true freedom, true escapism. I'm playing a fool, and the only audience is me.

One of the most interesting parts about it is that each actor could play the same part and they could be entirely different. The experiences an actor has will be different from any other actor so they will approach a character from their personal view.

  • I truly appreciate the guts it takes to expose ones vulnerability as these clips show. But like a comment that was made is the greatest performances are the ones that show the better souls in men and who make the simple things look interesting. This is the crying face and then there’s the happy face. Wonderful job with this piece.

  • Bloody brilliant. The scene choices and general formatting thematically are incredible, and I can't understate how incredible. Couple with that the amazing flow from start to finish, tieing this together beautifully. It's a remarkable, masterful, and resonating edit, man. You've picked so many standout moments from movies that I too have used in multifandom edits of my own, so seeing personal favourite scenes placed together with a class and delicacy makes my affinity for this video slyrocket on just my first watch.

  • What an amazing video! Throughout the last 5 years I finally started to appreciate very good acting and the clips that you showed in this edit are definitely some of the best acting performance of all time. Adam Driver gave my personal favorite performance in Marriage Story. His acting is so subtle in the beginning but you feel how his sadness and desperation grow throughout the movie until he finally lets his emotions out in the incredible argument scene. That scene brings me to tears every time.
