"Acting is like sculpture, it's what you take away from yourself to reveal the truth of what you're doing that makes a performance" - Orson Welles
I wanted to continue our cinema projects, now concentrating on "acting".
If any of your favourite actors (or movies) have not made it into this under 3 minute video, then I am sorry - what I have included here is scenes that have resonated with me over the years. Movies are provided in the video as TONS of you ask in the comments. Here's hoping this will clear up all the confusion.
Wonderful monologues from the great Orson Welles and Elia Kazan.

This is why many actors and actresses have depression, they become a completely different person when acting and it takes away a part of themselves. People don't know how hard it is until they've tried it.
Oh stfu
@@hassanking4275 hillbilly
Adam Sandler😔😔
They either start depressed, can't handle losing relevance or can't handle being wealthy, it's nothing to do with the acting.
@Hassan Tahri so did you.. cuz you're everywhere to see, he is there..

I only wish there was less crying. Acting is about so much more than crying and yelling. In fact, performing as a quiet or an uplifting character tends to be much more difficult.
Brian Cranston is one of my favorites in terms of quiet and subtle cues in acting.
Yeah, agreed. But as an editor I am obliged to keep the flow, it does not shift well when I mash up all of it together. And there is so much u can fit in 2min+ video
@@TheGaroStudios I'd say that a video which smoothly crosses from tragic to more lighthearted atmosphere makes for a more engaging and inspiring experience. Making it a minute longer wouldn't hurt.
@@UmbrellaGent Appreciate the input, will keep that in mind
I'd want to see Casey Affleck in Manchester by The Sea here.
I don't know why everybody is criticising for his clips of crying. This is an important part of acting. He chose beautiful clips and with a beautiful editing and a background music he presents us with a beautiful piece of video which made me cry cause I got the feel of remembering all of the clips of all the videos. And it is grasping me. Oh how much I love cinema !
excactly this video tries to show some moments of the purest rawest moments of emotion. and the scene in there will be blood or scent of a woman show that.
this video is about acting right. acting isn't just about sadness. it's all the emotions. and if acting is just about sadness, then hollywood must be doing a shit job.
But the video says art of acting and where as I know being sad isn't the only part of acting , there are many emotion , the ways to present a charecter written on paper

what is your favorite performance of all time?
I love acting. It's small and doesn't really get shown to anyone when I do it, but it matters so much to me. The ability to become someone I'm not, or someone I struggle so much to be. The freedom of anything. I want to play the perfect hero who gets everything he wants, as it's what I dream to be. I want to play someone angry at the world, as I want to shout at it for all the horrible things that happen in it. I want to play the darkest villian so I can unleash my anger without consequences or without judgement. I'm only playing a fool and the audience is me. All of those things are in me, it's just about trying to find the best one but I so often don't. It's true freedom, true escapism. I'm playing a fool, and the only audience is me.
i really like the way you speak your mind :-)
u will catch a break one day
Feel exact same
British One remember, understanding struggle is also a very important part of acting, its not what you feel or get in the end. Its how you feel during struggle, the determination, the will that inspires you to act.
British One, have you got plays of yourself on KZhead?
Every time i hear Al Pacino saying: " You understand? I'm in the dark!", I start crying. His performance in Scent of a Woman is so special.

The hardest part about acting is believing and being the character you play.
Jack Graham friendly tip i found out, like the video said, acting is what you leave behind before leaving the dressing room. A part of that you leave is your own beliefs and understandings of things. YOU dont exist when acting, the character does

Joaquin Phoenix in the master is the best performance I’ve ever seen on film

This cinema project is my favourite thing!!!!
Art.
when an actress/actor is able to make you feel something or change you somehow after you see them perform, they have done their job. it’s truly a beautiful work of art.
I don't understand why in the world you don't have millions of subscribers. The editing is phenomenal, and brings out every emotional part of me. The videos make me smile, the videos make me cry. The videos make me hate humanity, or gives me hope in humanity. Well done, well done❤❤❤.
It's like I'm watching a hit film documentary series that makes me more excited for the next episode to release. Amazing work David!
this must be one of the most beautiful edits you have ever made! Every single artist you include is magnificent. You truly touched the beauty that is the art of acting
As an actor I can't help but completely agree. If you think acting is just a job you haven't acted. It's an art form that takes so much out of you. You start to lose yourself in the role and that's when you know you're acting. You know you're acting when you lose yourself in the role
It's crazy how every time I watch your videos I think: that's it. I want to work in film. I don't know how, but you manage to capture that essence that makes cinema the seventh art. And I have this feeling of nostalgia that takes me, and at the same time the feeling of knowing where I'm going and where I belong. So thank you.
what is your favorite performance of all time?
Acting is just one of those things like any talent where you either have it or your don’t. Like being good at the piano.
I want to be an actor someday. I have an extreme passion of everything that is related to artistry. ✨
I love how the video started with marlon brando and ended with marlon brando.
Daniel-day Lewis is at another level of mastery
No one can act now a days like these but i am so proud to live in the era of these legends 😭😭
every now and then I come back to this video to realise how much I am in love with being an actor
Ever since I watched How to Train Your Dragon as a kid, I've been entranced by films and film making. One of the most interesting parts about it is that each actor could play the same part and they could be entirely different. The experiences an actor has will be different from any other actor so they will approach a character from their personal view.

Great edit!! But anyone else miss Di Caprio??
Watching Marlon Brando (what a start and end of the video!), the epitome and paradox of acting, made me think about Elia Kazan and what he used to write in the scripts to his cast: "the only way to understand any character is through yourself. Everyone is much more alike than they willingly admit - if you will dig and be honest about what you see".

No matter how many times I poke fun, no matter how many criticisms, I will never know the lengths an actor will take.
This video deserves a minimum of 100 million views just for the amount of emotions he was able to show with this insane editing

Notice the tribute given to Marlon Brando at the beginning and end of the video. He obviously deserves it being the greatest actor ever.

Christoph Waltz performance in IB needs to have a standing ovation..amazing performance.

I love cinema. It's visual literature. If a picture is worth a thousand words, I don't know how many more a motion picture is worth.
To know a great actor is to realize they have triggered something within you, whether relevant to the scene, not always necessary. Human expression, through human expression.
Probably i found your video months ago, but i still rewatch this masterpiece again and again. This video gives me an inspiration and beautiful feelings. I still proud that Cinema is my favourite art.

That pause from Michael Keaton after he says "I'm a fu*king actor" gives me chills everytime
I'm an actor and I've been getting back to this video every now and again for years every time I need an inspiration and move on! Thank you!
I truly appreciate the guts it takes to expose ones vulnerability as these clips show. But like a comment that was made is the greatest performances are the ones that show the better souls in men and who make the simple things look interesting. This is the crying face and then there’s the happy face. Wonderful job with this piece.

Tobey Maguire is criminally underrated his performance in Pawn Sacrifice and Brothers were simply astonishing.

Bloody brilliant. The scene choices and general formatting thematically are incredible, and I can't understate how incredible. Couple with that the amazing flow from start to finish, tieing this together beautifully. It's a remarkable, masterful, and resonating edit, man. You've picked so many standout moments from movies that I too have used in multifandom edits of my own, so seeing personal favourite scenes placed together with a class and delicacy makes my affinity for this video slyrocket on just my first watch.

What an amazing video! Throughout the last 5 years I finally started to appreciate very good acting and the clips that you showed in this edit are definitely some of the best acting performance of all time. Adam Driver gave my personal favorite performance in Marriage Story.
