I remember when Jon Jones who was at the peak of his UFC run began to turn into a villain; many (me included) were routing for humble rumble to whoop him. Sad it never happened.
He was 10-2 at Welterweight despite cutting from 230 and being completely weight drained from that cut, and the only fighter to beat him at his best was Daniel Cormier who is one of the greatest of all time.

His last video is heartbreaking. He goes to visit a kid with skin disease to lighten the kids mood up. He says he stopped by on the way for his own visit to the hospital. People's last acts show who they are, Rumble chose to uplift someone while he was likely in severe pain himself. Didn't know of him much, but now he is unforgettable to me ❤

I think the reason this has rocked so many, besides from AJ being a great fighter and person, is because it's unreal to see a guy we regard as being almost super human cut down in such a way in his prime. It makes you think about your own mortality.

Rumble and Kevin randleman was the greatest ever.... these two are a legend up above the clouds hanging out right now and enjoying their life in the after life in another dimension. The warrior's life is over and it is time for them to enjoy and relax. A beast a warrior and a legend. If there was ever to be a story or a movie of a badass cool and humble dude, it would be rumble and Kevin randleman.

I remember when he first came to the UFC. Even though he was a badass, he was not liked at first. After being gone for a min he came back to the UFC and was a different guy. You could see instantly who he really was and it was beautiful. He touched a lot of people the right way, right away. I remember hearing him speak his first fight back and I got goose bumps. I was pretty critical at the time and he stood out due to that. GOD bless his soul. GOD bless his family and friends. I will always remember him as a real man. He knew what was up and he raised to the occasion…so impressive!!! ❤❤❤

This was the first time I cried when hearing the news of an athlete I admired since hearing the news of Kobe's passing. I'll never forget seeing my dad's expression when I broke the news. Our household is very adamant MMA fans, and watching my dad's jaw drop was an overwhelming gut punch. We will miss you, Rumble.

It's sad that I've discovered him only his second run in UFC as LHW, but since that he was my one of the favorites fighter of all UFC roaster. For a long time I was a Jimi Manuwa fan due to story of his fighter's beginning and I've to say that I cheered for Manuwa against Rumbe at UFC 191, but after all those year we'd see, who's the real Man, truly inspirational great guy better than athlete as greatest he was. He was one of the few who kept on coming back to fight, regardless when he said about retiring again and again. He kept coming back to fight because he loved the sport. I still remember when he was back in Welterweight, look at how his career made him a worthy opponent against others as he got older and when he bulked up for each division of it's competitor's.
